Welcome

This summer has been slightly different, with our events taking place in venues across the city as we managed to re-home shows that would normally take place within the Assembly Rooms. We’ve also seen huge marquees on the market place house both the Derby Comedy Festival and the annual Summer Beer Festival. As we make our way into the autumn period, there’s plenty to see and do with some great drama at the Guildhall Theatre – including a Daphne Du Maurier double bill in Watching the Living, and an inspirational must-see play - Not About Heroes that explores the friendship between Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen, weaving their great poetry into the story. The Derby Folk Festival will bring concerts, dance displays, workshops and craft stalls to the Cathedral Quarter in early

October, and as Christmas approaches, we hope you’ll want to see our family show Naughty Meg and the Christmas Elves. We have a packed season of outdoor events, kicking off with the annual Darley Park Concert, followed by two days of unforgettable acts at Derby Festé. As the weather turns colder, we are also excited to bring you Derby’s biggest Bonfire and Fireworks display, and of course the Christmas Lights Switch-On. Christmas does feel a long way off at the moment, but as always, it will come around fast, and we’ll soon all be taking a spin on the Derby Christmas Ice Rink.
