Why choose this course? Photography has the ability to educate, stimulate, shock, document in minute detail and convey emotion. It’s a means of communication and through exploring the possibilities of photography, we aim to expand your thinking and development not just as a photographer but as an individual. About the course This course is designed to help you to learn how to use photography to communicate your ideas and feelings to others. The introduction of a broad range of techniques means that you can explore the possibilities that photography has to offer so that over your time studying you will become confident in your skills as a photographer. Teaching and learning The course uses technology enhanced learning to support your study through the use of online learning materials, galleries, slideshows, e-books, screencasts and videos as well as developing your skills in establishing digital photographic workflows and image management. The course integrates Personal Development Planning in a way that stimulates your photographic practice from personal career directions through to reflection on your progress and supporting your development as a professional practitioner.

Additional information As with all courses whether full or part time, you’re expected to dedicate time outside the taught and practical sessions to work on projects as well as engaging with the online learning materials. We have strong links with local businesses and professionals, so you will have the chance to develop your knowledge in commercial and industrial situations, through ‘live’ projects, client briefs and work experience. Your career We’ve designed this course to take into account the needs of a wide range of employers in the photography and visual communication industries. When you graduate you could go on to work for a wide variety of organisations in the photoimaging sector of the creative industries. Or you may choose to work as a photographer on a freelance basis.
