Teaching and learning You will be taught by a variety of learning and teaching methods which include:problem solving, reflective practice, analysis of given problem with synthesis of solution, portfolio building, group work, the use of influences files, report writing, group critiques, negotiated learning, design development, design translation, presentation and demonstration.

About the course Your first semester will allow for personal development within a number of disciplines for Fashion, which include, pattern cutting and manufacturing, print and knit, gaining valuable skills to be used throughout your degree. Contextual Studies and Professional Development (CPD) will also give you a clear direction and specialist knowledge. Industry speakers outline their area of expertise and help you with decision making in regards to your own personal direction. This integration of skills and studies in fashion has produced innovative and ambitious fashion creative on this unique course of Fashion Studies.

Options Diploma in Professional Practice You will have the opportunity of a placement year which will lead to the University’s Diploma in Professional Practice qualification, on completion of the following two modules: Applied Professional Practice Contemporary Issues in Professional Practice. Additional information Study visits are undertaken and encouraged each year for all stages. We regularly visit London and Europe, as well as research trips to more local destinations such as the Trend Boutique (Trend Forecasters), Nottingham Contemporary, and museums and art galleries. You will have the chance to exhibit internationally. Lucy Outhwaite and Ravinder Marathu showed their work on the catwalk at the three-day 15th Ningbo International Fashion Fair in China.

Over 85% of our graduates over the past six years have found jobs in a broad range of careers, within a year of completing the course including:fashion design, knitwear design, sportswear, fashion forecasting, PR, marketing, buying, merchandising, styling and production.
