Your career You’ll have a great chance of getting a job; around 90% of our graduates are working or in further study within six months of graduating. Some now work for organisations including Clear Environmental Consultants Ltd, the National Trust, Caterpillar UK, Yorkshire Water, Derby City Council, the Civil Service and the AQA exam board. You’ll develop the knowledge and skills employers look for in graduates, and our graduates have often said the degree has really helped them in their career, even if they gained employment outside of geography.

Physical Geography of the Human Realm

SPRING

You’ll be taught by lecturers who are active researchers and consultants in the UK and overseas, so you’ll be kept right up to date with what’s new in geography. Current research interests include flood and environmental risk management, climate change and population migration. You’ll be taught through lectures, field study, workshops and practical sessions, as well as tutorials and one to one sessions.

You can tailor this course to suit your geographical interests and career aspirations by choosing from our wide range of optional modules. You’ll have opportunities to apply what you learn and put it into practice as well as develop your employability skills. There are also a range of day and residential fieldtrips in the UK and overseas including the local Peak District National Park, Belgium and Morocco.

Entry requirements: Academic – 240 UCAS tariff points, of which at least 200 must be from your International Baccalaureate or equivalent qualification.
