Teaching and learning Teaching is delivered mainly through studio based and experiential learning using project briefs. This is mixed with tutorials, lectures, seminars, visiting speakers and visits to galleries and exhibitions. You will create a Personal Development Plan which will allow you to reflect on your studies, and progress and plan your future career.

About the course This course will support you in developing dynamic and individual responses to creative projects, ranging from corporate identity, branding, advertising and typography to packaging and screen based moving images.

We’ll encourage you to participate in live industry briefs throughout the course to allow you to develop the skills and knowledge you will need for a career in this field.

Options Stage Two You will choose one module from:  Design Strategies  Sequential Illustration  Digital Moving Image. Additional information This is an undergraduate and postgraduate course combined. You will study for four years and gain a masters degree in Graphic Design. During the course you will be encouraged to enter national competitions to develop your portfolio and CV when you graduate. You will also have the opportunity to exhibit your final year work as part of our degree show. This creative festival allows you to showcase your work and make vital industry contacts, and it’s a really high profile event in the city’s arts calendar.

Realisation

Your career As a graduate you could work in a design studio, as a freelance designer or in numerous areas including, art direction, editorial design, typography, branding, advertising, corporate identity, interactive media, signage, design consultancy or web design. You may also decide to progress on to alternative careers such as teaching. Throughout the course you will get regular support and advice on careers from specialist staff including recognised practitioners, researchers and educators, who are actively engaged in contemporary graphic design practice.
