About the course The mathematics pathways offer you the opportunity to gain knowledge of concepts in mathematics, statistics and operational research. You will develop analytical problem solving skills, communication skills and IT skills and our links with local companies means you can integrate and apply your knowledge to practical, real life situations.

Additional information With joint honours, you can study for an honours degree in two or even three subjects. You can study Mathematics as either a major, joint or minor pathway.

Teaching and learning Formal lectures are supported by smaller tutorial groups where consolidation of understanding and problem solving take place. A weekly drop-in mathematics clinic ensures you will have the access to help when needed and our staff are always willing to see you on a one-to-one basis to resolve problems. A work placement year is optional but recommended.

Your career With a degree in mathematics you will have a wide range of career opportunities open to you. Our graduates have gone on to work in companies such as IBM, Microsoft, Rolls-Royce PLC and on the London Stock Exchange. Many go into teaching and lecturing while others continue their studies through postgraduate research and masters courses.

The maths lecturers are really enthusiastic about what they’re teaching and have a remarkable ability to relate the subject to everyday life - which really helps you to understand the concepts being taught. Nick Morris
