Teaching and learning You will take part in lectures, seminars, workshops, group activities and practical work, and have the opportunity to work in innovative ways using web forums and virtual learning environments, such as Second Life. Recent quality inspectors praised us ‘for being at the forefront of technology-enhanced learning’. We use a variety of assessment methods, reflecting the range of skills our students acquire. Alongside written coursework and exams, there are also practical activities such as debates, presentations, preparing posters and designing and carrying out research studies. Additional information Our facilities include high specification computing labs with software for designing experiments, and physiology labs, housing a range of physiological recording equipment. Our observation suite has video recording facilities and a state of the art eye tracker, which allows you to analyse eye movements. We’re not involved in animal research.

About the course Psychology is the scientific study of human thought and behaviour. You will cover the social, developmental, cognitive and biological dimensions of behaviour and the applications of psychology in a range of areas. Our staff are active in research so you will be kept right up-to-date with current developments.

This course is accredited as conferring eligibility for the Graduate basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society, provided the minimum standard of a second class honours is achieved. This is the first step to becoming a professional psychologist. In the 2013 National Student Survey, 93% of our students were satisfied with the teaching on this course.

Previous graduates have qualified in clinical and educational psychology, enrolled for PhDs and worked in other professions where psychological knowledge is relevant such as teaching or working in mental health settings.
