Ken Mathieson’s Classic Jazz Orchestra Salutes the Kings of Jazz

The Bevvy Sisters Mixing classy original songs, vibrant vintage folk and artful contemporary covers into the headiest of musical cocktails. Scottish harmony outfit The Bevvy Sisters unites the richly seasoned voices of Heather Macleod, Kaela Rowan and Lindsey Black with Shooglenifty percussionist James Mackintosh and David Donnelly (ex-Salsa Celtica/Finlay Quaye) on guitar, mandolin and backing vocals.

Take a stroll down Bourbon Street as this legendary orchestra perform a selection by some of the jazz greats including Jelly Roll Morton, Benny Goodman and Bob Crosby. A re-interpretation of jazz styles which evolved organically from the early 1900s to the 70s but is recognisably the one timeless music.

“These are the harmonies heard when men had shooters under their suits and women on their arms. Radio-era chic, now retro cool. The Bevvy Sisters are reinventing the genre and covering all exits.” Scotland on Sunday

Furnace Mountain Appalachian Roots Music

The music of Furnace Mountain is at times lively and raucous, with spirited fiddle melodies weaving in and around the powerful rhythms of the bass and bouzouki. It is at other times poignant and poetic, with sublime vocal harmonies beautifully interpreting some of the oldest songs ever written. Get set to have a great night in the company of this truly great band from the Southern Appalachians.

The Baghdaddies An eclectic fusion of rhythms and melodies plucked from around the world. The Baghdaddies’ music has strong Balkan tendencies alongside Caribbean grooves, Middle Eastern rhythms and even some Geordie touches, all delivered with theatre and exuberance. Uplifting and infectiously danceable, full of blistering brass, rousing 5 part vocal harmonies and a rhythm section that will ensure you can’t keep still. Songs to listen to and party!

“blisteringly good” Americana UK “Like the mountains and rivers, their sounds reflect the soul of the region” The Piedmont Virginian

“The band have a particular flair for the Balkans and capture its frenetic energy and flamboyance wonderfully – an anarchic fusion where Ivo Papasov meets The Clash meets The Beat” Songlines magazine
