Reasons to Ride July 2024

Page 1

FROM THE PUBLISHER

There are countless folks out there that constantly tell me to keep my politics and faith to myself, and that it has no place in business or on our social media page – but this is my editorial page, so I feel empowered and less restrained here.

And frankly, I believe that WE ALL need to speak up MORE and STOP keeping our opinions to ourselves. I also believe that it’s impossible to separate what’s going on in the world, in our own communities, from what we are doing here in the riding community.

Our name “REASONS TO RIDE” refers to whatever it is that calls us to ride. NO – you don’t “need a reason” to ride; but chances are that you have one. Otherwise, why are you? It could be simply that it puts a smile on your face and wind in your sails. Do you enjoy riding? If so – it could be that simple, that’s your reason to ride. Or it could be more practical reasons – such as a more efficient means during the summer or more convenient around town. There are countless “reasons” to ride.

Then there are the callings… the causes, that prompt us to “saddle up”.

We could be riding to honor a fallen soldier or first responder. We could be riding for a charity that needs our help. Or you could be riding to make a social statement – in support of a cause or group.

Answering a call and taking a stand for something that matters – that’s what we are called to do when bad things happen or people might challenge what we hold as important to our community, our faith, or families.

As Toby Keith sang (with Willie Nelson) – “Cause justice is the one thing you should always find, You got to saddle up your boys, you got to draw a hard line..”

This isn’t a statement about politics – one party or another, it’s about taking a stance for what we believe in. It’s about making sure our voices are heard.

But in this case, we are bikers. The roar of our bikes can speak for us, in some cases.

So this summer, I challenge you to take a stand and RIDE for causes that you believe in. Sure have some fun and ENJOY THE RIDE, but consider who you’re riding with and what they are riding for. Do they represent you and your beliefs? Do they represent who you truly are?

Regardless of your politics or who you are supporting this Fall – chances are that you’re not happy with how things are in the world. And while it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and wonder what you can do – change and every movement in the history has started the same way. One step. One person – or maybe in this case, one rider.

So, I challenge you to make a difference. RIDE FOR A REASON, and support the businesses, the causes, and the people you believe in.

We can’t sit back just throwing stones or grumbling and leave it to others. If we want to see things change – or stay the same, if you prefer that – then we need to make sure our voice (and vote) is heard.

It’s time to saddle up and fire up those bikes… and draw a hard line!

Sincerely,

Ride n’ Win!

This month we begin announcing winners for our 2024 Ride n’ Win Riding Challenge! Each month we will draw winners from those entering in the challenge! This isn’t a skills challenge – it’s a challenge to just get out and ride as much as possible and share where you’ve been. We encourage riders to explore new areas and check out new events. We challenge riders to join us at new rallies and rides all across the Midwest – and even at some of the biggest national events across the country. And along the way, we’re looking for new places to stop!

When you participate in one of our shows – voting for your favorite bikes or tattoos, or simply entering in one of our raffle drawings –your name gets into the system and you have a chance of winning. You can also “check-in” at various ride stops found within the pages of these magazines and through our online pages. While visiting these partners and recommended ride stops, you simply have to post up a pic on your facebook, Instagram, or twitter account with the hashtag #ReasonsToRide. Our system will handle the rest… You then just have to look for your name on the list of winners.

You have a chance to win concert tickets, subscriptions, lots of gear, and even a few motorcycles. All for simply getting out and riding or participating in our events!

Since its launch in 2011, this program has evolved and grown every year as we try to improve things and ensure that it’s a great time for everyone. This year is no exception, as we add even MORE STOPS and WAY MORE PRIZES! Our primary area of focus for our Midwest stops is across Michigan and Ohio. However, we will are also adding stops throughout West Virginia, Kentucky, and Western Pennsylvania as we develop our new Reasons To Ride: Appalachia magazine and in upstate New York and even Southern Ontario as we expand in that direction with HARD TALES MAGAZINE. Our network of magazines cover some of the best riding in the country and there are literally thousands of really cool stops to discover.

If you own a business, are hosting a ride or other motorcycle friendly event, or would like to recommend a place for riders to visit – shoot us an email for more information on how to become a ride stop.

Over 50,000 riders have participated in this program since launched – and we’ve awarded over 5,000 prizes – including motorcycles, travel packages, rally passes, concert tickets – and of course HUNDREDS of t-shirts and other swag! For more information, email us at Info@ ReasonsToRide.com

BECOME A LOCAL ROAD REP

If you’re a rider that’s active in your local riding community, we’d invite you to consider becoming a Local Road Rep for Reasons To Ride. This is NOT meant to be a sales position or full time job for anyone – but is a chance to help promote local events and businesses, while making a “few dollars” to support your riding habit!

Like most things, you get what you put out of it – but it’s meant to be a fun gig for riding enthusiasts. If you’re really active and cover a larger area, you can make good money –but that takes time and a commitment. The real payoff is to have a good time as the person to see about getting their events or even just their picture in the local biker mag.

We aren’t looking for guys wanting to be “part-time bad guys” or any nonsense like that, we’re looking for reliable good folks that want to help support others in the community. The ideal folks might be active supporters of a local charity ride, and are looking to expand their activities while getting more exposure for their own ride. We can handle the sales aspects of the area, but we will look to you for pictures of local events and updates as to what’s coming up. And you’ll be able to make some money doing what you’re most likely already doing.

We’re asking for a minimum time commitment of 8-10 hours a month. It helps if you have a laptop and a camera – although a smartphone can usually do it. You’ll get some cool swag, access to rallies and other events, and a chance to help a lot of local folks. As our coverage and presence in the area increases, you are able to share in the revenue generated. It’s a pretty proven business plan – it’s what built this entire organization. We think it’s a pretty good deal – for the right folks.

If any of this sounds interesting to you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We will be scheduling “Intro Video Seminars” over the next few months to help explain how it all works. And now is the time to jump in, as we prepare for the upcoming riding season!

So don’t delay – send us an email and tell us a little bit about yourself! Info@ReasonsToRide.com

MOTORCYCLE MINISTRIES

Heroes…

There are so many of them, both named and unnamed. Some get the accolades, parades and recognition, some are in the background or never seen.

What makes a hero? The definition of a hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. That description could be for many people, but mostly the ones talked about are public figures and maybe once in a while you might catch a news story about someone who saved a person or an animal or something that was an outstanding feat of unselfishness. Those are great stories, and I am sure each one of us has known someone who they feel was a hero to them, however today I am going to talk about the heroes we don’t know and probably one we do know or would like to.

In June we gave honor to the 80th anniversary of D-Day when thousands of troops landed at Normandy Beach, France to overtake the enemy forces that had attempted to overtake France. It was brutal and most of the boys, and I do mean boys, just barely 18 years old, fresh out of high school then boot camp and met with a challenge not knowing if they would live or die. Did they go just because it was an order, or did they go out of a sense of duty to their country and the country they were sent to save?

You see a true hero doesn’t take thought of themselves or the accolades they may get for doing a great thing. No, their thoughts are on the task at hand. Their mind is set, and their resolve is to go and do regardless of the outcome. True heroes take no thought of reward.

As I looked at the films from the D-Day landing, and then looked at the grave markers at Normandy, I couldn’t help but think of those men and women who chose to fight to maintain the freedoms of others they didn’t even know. Some of them didn’t even make it to the beach, they died right in the water. Yet, even though those around them saw their comrades’ in arms fall, they kept on pushing forward to gain the ground and defeat the enemy. Many lives were lost that day, some were not and the Veterans that are alive yet today were taken over to France this year to be honored for their part in the heroic efforts to secure freedom. I cannot imagine the thoughts they had, the memories they perhaps shoved deep in the back of their minds that came flooding back as they walked the beach and visited the Memorial of their brothers and sisters that were lost that day. My brother had the privilege of meeting one of those Vets just as he was leaving to go over. The man was 99 years old and when I look at his face, I see strength, resolve, commitment and a sense of peace that he has truly lived a good life in the freedoms he so willingly fought for to preserve.

Our God was with them that day…how do I know that? Because they all invited Him to go with them. Prayers were said, scriptures were read and trust that He would help them accomplish the task at hand was instilled in all of them. They won. Just like Jesus won when He unselfishly gave His life for all of us, so we could be free from the hands of the enemy. Loss of life doesn’t mean defeat; it means the final victory is ours! As the living do say, and those who have passed could tell, ‘Sometimes to get to heaven, you have to go through hell, but once you’ve arrived you know you’ve done well.’

Even Jesus went down before He went up, with the keys in His hands saying, ‘It is enough!’

Celebrate Freedom and Honor the Heroes!

RtR CHAMPIONSHIP BIKE SHOW SERIES

PRESENTED BY ERSKINE LAW

PUT HER IN THE SHOW – AND JOIN THE FAM!

After doing these shows for more than 12 years, it’s great seeing how many connections and friendships that have developed over the years between folks coming to the shows. There’s a common bond that exists among folks that customize or even create their own bikes. People start talking about what they’ve built, what they have at home, and what they rode up to the show. And this year – we are doing even more to help facilitate those discussions and really ensure that everyone has a great time at the show! Regardless of what you have – all makes, models, and years are welcome. Come on out and show off what you’ve done – and join the RTR BIKE SHOW FAMILY!

BIKE SHOW YEARBOOKS!

We are excited to announce that we will once again be creating a “Yearbook” upon the completion of the 2024 Bike Show series. It is our hope to have these produced and in-hand in time for the holiday season and Christmas. These books will be hardcover with full color pictures printed on high quality paper stock. It’s our goal to make these keepsakes that are worthy of showcasing the bikes featured inside.

The books will contain photos and recognition of some of the amazing bikes featured throughout the year at Bike Shows ranging from the WILD TURKEY FESTIVAL at the start of the year through to the GENEVA Thunder Zone show. We will also include shots from other regional shows and events – and some of the bikes seen there.

If you’d like to have your bike featured in the yearbooks, we’d encourage you to let us know in advance. We will also be accepting pre-orders for the books through October. If you’d like to reserve a book or find out more information on getting your bike featured, you can email us at BikeShowInfo@gmail.com

OUTSTANDING SOUND / ENGINE AWARDS!

We’ve added two new trophies to our shows this year –

The OUTSTANDING SOUND awards are presented to the winners of informal sound competitions that we are now incorporating into some of our larger RtR Bike Shows this year. These are be “King of the Hill” style competitions with winners chosen based upon overall sound quality – not simply the decibels they can produce. While we will have several classes – the emphasis will be on creating a fun opportunity to showcase qual-

ty sound systems. If you’re at a show and want to set up a “grudge match” style challenge – just let us know! In many cases we will have everything there, including custom trophies for those winning the challenges!

The ENGINE AWARDS are presented based upon appearance and design of the motorcycle engine. They are NOT driven by performance / highest horsepower. In many cases we are seeing more and more show bikes with engines that are truly works of art. These awards give us an opportunity to recognize those that go above and beyond in terms of their bike’s powerplant.

ALSO NEW for 2024!

Exhibitor Lanyards and Pins

Select RTR Bike Shows will now feature special badges and lanyards for those exhibiting motorcycles at the show. This will make it easier for everyone to identify who the builders are and encourage discussion as folks looks to hear more about the bikes. These lanyards will be provided free of any additional cost for those registering in advance for these shows, courtesy our sponsor – Erskine Law.

We will also begin presenting “show pins” for those exhibiting motorcycles. Series and custom show pins will help recognize those that are “seasoned exhibitors” and the shows they have participated in. These collectible pins can be attached to jackets and vests; and will also be provided free of any additional cost for those registering in advance, courtesy Erskine Law

Legacy Bike Recognition

In an effort to showcase Best of Show motorcycles – and possibly give others a chance to win as well, we will now be inviting past winners to come and exhibit their bikes as prominent features of the shows they have won. We have special “extras” for Legacy Winners – and will work to get additional shots and features of these bikes from the shows to showcase within the magazines and online.

Bike of the Nights!

As always, the RtR crew will be out and about hitting various Bike Nights, Rides, and other events throughout the upcoming riding season. At select events, our team and our partners will be recognizing one or two bikes as “BIKE OF THE NIGHT” as part of the 2024 Championship Bike Show Series –presented by Erskine Law.

The owners of these motorcycles will receive a special trophy and invitation to participate in an upcoming bike show – sponsored by the magazine. We will also be featuring some of these bikes in the magazine and / or online.

At some locations, such as Arsenal Harley-Davidson, Tavern of Independence, Artesian Wells, Fink’s, and Zeppe’s – we will be regularly presenting a BIKE OF THE NIGHT Trophy as part of their Bike Nights! Follow them or us on Facebook for more details!

If you’d like our crew to stop by your Bike Night or other event, just email us with details and contact information. Email us at Events@ReasonsToRide.com

Thunder Zone Vendor Areas

For the larger weekend shows, we often host THUNDER ZONE Vendor areas as part of our layout. These vendor areas offer a tremendous opportunity to reach not only thousands of riders – but far more, as many of the events embrace the entire community, drawing attendees from throughout their regions. Many of our shows are part of rallies and events with more than 10,000 in attendance, several more than 50k, and even a few 100k plus! And for all of our Tour Stops – we work with vendors to ensure a seamless, successful experience. However, at most – space is limited! So, email us ASAP to get on the list and reserve your spots!

For a complete schedule and more information on vending at these events, email Email for information - Info@ReasonsToRide.com

REBEL ROADS - Michigan’s premier motorcycle rally returns to the streets of Muskegon, Michigan July 17-21, 2024 – and RtR will be there!

Muskegon’s downtown Western Avenue (forever more known as REBEL ROAD to riders) roars all weekend long with bikes all day and all night. It pulses with the energy of thousands of riders and the roar of their bike creates a backdrop for all the festivities.

It’s an energy and feeling that so many of the national rallies only dream of – it’s the pulse of REBEL ROAD!

Rebel Road is a community driven rally with all of the proceeds going towards the Child Abuse Council of Muskegon County. With an all volunteer staff – Rebel Road is all about the children and supporting the local community.

Running through downtown Muskegon, Rebel Road is the heart of what is now known as Muskegon Bike Week – encompassing both the Bike Time Rally events and promotions held at Hot Rod Harley-Davidson and Rebel Road itself downtown. Other ride stops and organizations come together to support the rally and riders coming to the area.

Muskegon has a rich motorcycle history. It is home to the Musekgon Motorcycle Club (MMC). Founded in 1920, the MMC actually predates the American Motorcycle Association itself. The MMC established what would become the nation’s first professional climb races in 1923. The MMC still hosts professional hillclimb races, as well as harescrambles and other races and rides throughout the year.

The REBEL ROAD RTR Bike Show

In 2023, RtR brought the Championship Bike Show Series® to Muskegon for the Rally and it was an unprecedented success. Bikes came from throughout the area and beyond, filling out a variety of classes with a wide range of makes, models, and years represented.

“We’ve done Bike Shows before, with varying success. It was never a concern this year, as we knew things were handled. Everything was professionally done and the show was a hit!”, commented Gary Ridley with Rebel Road. “We’re looking forward to seeing the Bike Show continue to grow!”

For 2024, the RtR Crew has teamed up with Rebel Road and series sponsors to offer even more to those exhibiting at the show. Preregistered exhibitors will get special lanyards along with FREE Show T-Shirts! New awards include BEST ENGINE, CUSTOM TRIKE, and OUTSTANDING SOUND.

The SOUND awards are awarded to those coming out on top through an informal “King of the Hill” one-on-one sound challenge process by which bikes are pitted against each other – mano e mano. Based upon the judge’s consideration and crowd applause, one bike will progress

from each challenge. And to be clear, the sound challenge is based upon sound quality and the dynamics of the music played. It’s not on overall decibels. Contestants are encouraged to remember the audience and don’t leave them scrambling for cover when you take the stage.

When it comes to the Rebel Road Bike Show, the only thing we ran short of in 2023 was space. So this year we are encouraging everyone to register in advance. In addition to the freebies (t-shirt, lanyards, pins..) exhibitors are also able to have reserved space for them. It’s a much better way to ensure your spot in the show – rather than getting there 2 hours early!

For more information on the SHOW and links to pre-register, check out and follow the Facebook Event – REBEL ROAD Custom & Vintage Bike Show presented by Reasons To Ride Michigan.

THE MUSIC

Rebel Road didn’t just go out and sign up a few performers from the “bike show circuit” – the same bands that everyone else has. They took the time to host a series of BATTLE OF THE BANDS events to showcase local and regional acts – and then they invited the top performers to open for national acts that are known for delivering powerhouse shows.

West Michigan favorite - toxxic hosts the Official Rebel Road Kick Off Party downtown on Wednesday, July 17th on Western Avenue.

Things kick off at 6pm and pretty much run through Sunday, July 21st when Witchcraft Lemonade performs on the big stage.

Michigan native and shares his new release on Thursday, July 18, when he takes the Miller Lite Main Stage with Chad Flores and Backwoods Express. Chad Flores won last year’s Battle of the Bands and really stole the show all week during the rally. He was the talk of the town and is sure to kick things up even more this year.

Friday night, Battle of the Bands finalists Future Things hit the Miller Lite Main Stage and kick off a line up that includes Coldville, Klinical Trial and headliner Josey Scott Band. Josey Scott is best known as the former lead singer of Saliva.

Saturday the main stage features Texas Hippie Coalition, Some People's Kids and Stevie Reidz & Co.. Things are kicked off by Minus Two, one of the most popular acts from Rebel Road 2023.

If you’ve never experienced Texas Hippie Coalition, you’re in for a full force dose of rally music mayhem. Described as a southern rock-influenced band that combines punk, grunge, and pure driven hard rock – you’ll get a sense of everything from Molly Hatchett, Charlie Daniels, Pantera – and of course the spirit of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Yeah, it’s all that – and they are the definition of RALLY ROCK! And they will recharge the rally and have them roaring well into the night on Saturday.

Yeah, it’s all that.

TOAST THE REBEL ROAD

Rebel Road runs along Western Avenue in downtown Musekgon. It is home to countless unique restaurants and bars, shops and entertainment venues. There is a designated social district zone that allows some use of alcohol in public. However, state liquor laws also restricts the Social District drinks from coming into the Miller Lite Main Stage area. So, in the main entertainment areas – where the BIKE SHOW, the MILLER LITE MAIN STAGE, the Ms. Rebel Road contest, and so much more happens – you need to purchase beverages from the Rebel Road bars. Please remember that these are the drinks that not only support the rally, the entertainment on stage, but the Child Abuse Council as well.

As part of RtR’s commitment to the rally and the region, Reasons to Ride dedicated this issue of Reasons To Ride Michigan as a special REBEL ROAD EDITION. In addition to regular content and features – we added an extra focus on the rally, as well as ride stops and other events in the area. With a unique cover complimenting the themed artwork created by the Rebel Road team, the issue is meant to catch the attention of riders and spread the word about not only the Rally – but the entire area as well.

“The Muskegon area is a great one for riders – not only because of the beautiful shoreline and roads to explore, but because of its rich motorcycling history as well!” RtR Publisher Derek Smith affirmed.

“We are proud to be a part of such an incredible event. It’s really amazing what a group of hard-working dedicated volunteers can do – creating one of the coolest motorcycle rallies we’ve ever attended, a nd to have all of the proceeds going to kids in need.. it’s simply amazing!,” commented Smith.

THE REBEL ROAD RALLY

In an effort to help support venues outside the downtown district, Rebel Road and Reasons To Ride have introduced the REBEL ROAD RALLY RUN this year. Wrangling Two Snakes on 2 Wheels:

The Story of Southeast Kentucky’s First Two State Recognized Motorcycle Routes

The Story of Rattlesnake 192 - Brake on the Snake Southeast Kentucky’s first established state-recognized motorcycle route, Rattlesnake 192, began with the vision of Pulaski and Laurel County local governments who recognized the potential for economic development through motorsports tourism. In 2016, Kentucky officially named Highway 192 "The Rattlesnake" to promote tourism and attract motorcyclists and sports car drivers. The road runs from London to Somerset, Kentucky, through the foothills of Daniel Boone National Forest, and has around 150 turns in an 11-mile stretch. The road is known for its excellent pavement and beautiful countryside.

The “Rattlesnake" is easily accessible from I-75 near London, Kentucky. The good curves begin in about five miles, and the official Rattlesnake is another five miles at Buck Creek. “Rattlesnake 192-Brake on the Snake” was included in the Backroads of Appalachia Mobile Application when it was originally released! For more information, Find Rattlesnake 192 - Brake on the Snake on Facebook and come visit us this season and “Get Rattled On Rattlesnake 192’!

The Incredible Cabin Known as the Souvenir Shack

we hear the incredible story of Copperhead Trail from its surviving co-founder at our Annual Copperhead Trail Founders Ride for Cancer Event! Copperhead Trail KY was included in the Backroads of Appalachia Mobile Application when it was originally released along with Rattlesnake 192 and many other great existing and newly created routes! Find Copperhead Trail KY on Facebook and come visit us this season and “Get Bit” By the Beauty of Southeast Kentucky on Copperhead Trail Today!

Bringing it All Together Under One Regional Mission!

Local residents Janice and Billy Green saw an opportunity to enhance the experience for everyone who visits “Rattlesnake 192-Brake on the Snake” by creating a true “Break” for all who wrangle this Kentucky Viper. The Greens spent two years building this Rustic Log Cabin with the inviting front porch now known as the “Souvenir Shack” with their own bare hands! The Shack opened in 2018 and is one place we highly recommend to everyone who comes here. It is a truly “Uniquely Appalachian” Experience as this beautiful log cabin offers a place for riders to take a break, enjoy a cold drink, and purchase Rattlesnake 192 merchandise. The Souvenir Shack or the “Shack” as us local riders call it is one incredible place to visit from the Hammock Chairs hanging outside to the dog laying on the front porch and the stuffed rattlesnakes found inside, The “Shack” epitomizes Central Appalachian hospitality and is a must-visit for all who come here! Find the Souvenir Shack now in the Backroads of Appalachia Mobile Application or visit them on Facebook! You will be glad you did!

The Story of Copperhead Trail KY

Following the lead of Rattlesnake 192, two adjoining counties came together to create yet another great ride that truly encompasses the beauty of Southeast Kentucky in a way that is impossible to put into words. Starting right off of Exit 11 on I-75 at Kentucky Splash Waterpark and Campground in Williamsburg Kentucky you will see the sign for this incredible 60 Miles Motorcycle Ride which includes over 220 Curves and the incredible backdrop that is Daniel Boone National Forest! This ride offers all the incredible beauty, scenery, history, and natural wonders unique to Whitley and McCreary Counties. A highlight of this route is Cumberland Falls, known as the "Niagara of the South," which boasts the highest flowing waterfall south of Niagara and is one of the world’s only places where you can see a moonbow (Full Moon Required!).

Copperhead Trail KY was recognized and marked by the Kentucky State Legislature in 2017 and is the only state-sign marked motorcycle ride at every turn, ensuring riders can fully enjoy this scenic journey. Each year

The establishment of Rattlesnake 192 and Copperhead Trail KY marked significant milestones in promoting motorcycle tourism in Southeast Kentucky. These routes not only offer thrilling rides but also bring economic development to our region while celebrating the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region. As we commemorate the creation of Copperhead Trail KY this month and honor Jeffrey Gray, we continue our unwavering mission to make our region the Number 1 Place to Ride for motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world.

Since we cannot get it all in one article, Join us next month as we delve deeper into the history of our organization and bring you the rest of the Backroads of Appalachia Story including the trail that started it all for Backroads of Appalachia, The one and only Dragonslayer HWY 160 over Kentucky’s Highest Mountain! RECIPES

Crock pot Pierogi Casserole with Kielbasa recipe

INGREDIENTS:

• 3 boxes Mrs. T’s Cheddar Pierogies – Regular or mini. We prefer the mini ones. They are more of a bite size and work well for this casserole.

• 4 cups chicken broth

• 1 8 oz. block cream cheese

• 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

• 1 pound kielbasa – sliced (or other cooked meat mentioned above)

• salt & pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

• Combine all ingredients in your crockpot. Cook on high 3-4 hours, or on low 6 hours.

• Serve with a fresh green salad and crusty bread.

Herb Roasted Potatoes, Carrots and Onions

Ingredients:

• Red Potatoes, 8 to 10 small to medium size

• Carrots, a bunch

• Sweet Onions, 2 or 3

• Sage, 2 to 3 tablespoons, snipped

• Rosemary, 1 to 2 tablespoons, snipped

• Chicken Broth, 1 cup

• Olive Oil

• Coarse Ground Salt and Pepper

Directions:

• Scrub the potatoes and cut them into quarters.

• Give your carrots a haircut, as the lovely lady at the produce place says when she offers to cut the greens off for you.

• Rinse and peel them.Slice them into thick rounds.

• Slice the onion into rings, including a good bit of the green part.

• Snip the herbs.Toss the vegetables and herbs together in big roaster pan.

• Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with a little olive oil.

• Stir it all together until the vegetable are well coated with the oil.

• Add the broth. I used it to keep them from getting too browned and sticking to the pan. It also added a little extra flavor.

• Bake at 375 for 45 minutes to an hour, or until they’re tender.Stir them up in the roaster pan to mix all the herbs, oil and remaining broth.

• Dump them into a serving bowl and enjoy!
