Jokes A man lay sprawled across three entire seats in the posh theatre. When the usher came by and noticed this, he whispered to the man, "Sorry, sir, but you're only allowed one seat." The man groaned but didn't budge. The usher became impatient. "Sir, if you don't get up from there I'm going to have to call the manager." Again, the man just groaned, which infuriated the usher who turned and
The things you do for yourself are gone when you are gone, but the things you do for others remain as your legacy marched briskly back up the aisle in search of his manager. In a few moments, both the usher and the manager returned and stood over the man. Together the two of them tried repeatedly to move him, but with no success. Finally, they summoned the police. The policeman surveyed the situation briefly then asked, "All right, what's your name?" "Sam," the man moaned. "Where are you from, Sam?"

The Irish Association for Supported Employment (IASE) today called for businesses in Tipperary to participate in the sixth annual National Supported Employment Week (22nd to the 28th April). Job Shadow Day (24th April) is the highlight of the week and will see hundreds of people with disabilities shadow a workplace mentor as he or she goes about a normal working day. A number of high profile individuals participated in Job Shadow Day last year, to include An Taoiseach Enda Kenny who was shadowed by 23year-old Cian O’Connor. Commenting on his experience of the Job Shadow initiative, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny said: "I really enjoyed my day with Cian last year. He came with me to meetings with farming organisations, tourism businesses, students and visitors from the USA and he was very forthright in his participation. His media appearances and attendance at the Dail were I think very good for people in supported employment and I'm a big supporter of Job Shadow Day. I would encourage more people to get involved and offer a person with disabilities a chance to come and work with them for a day. Trust me, you'll be glad you did!" Other supporters included former IASE patron Sean Gallagher; Senator David Norris; Minister Joan Burton; Minister Kathleen Lynch and adventurer Mark Pollock.

Initiatives such as Job Shadow Day offer individuals with a disability a unique opportunity to get a close up look at the world of work, enabling
them to discover and learn about the skills and education required to compete and succeed in the workplace. Other well-known individuals already committed for Job Shadow Day 2013 include celebrity chef Neven Maguire and Kerry footballer Colm Cooper. Teresa Mallon, Chairperson, IASE commented: “Job Shadow Day is a collaborative effort involving the IASE, supported employment organisations nationwide, job seekers and employers. It is a very positive initiative to raise awareness among employers of the important role and contribution individuals with disabilities can make in the workplace. To date hundreds of employers have opened their doors to demonstrate their commitment to equal employment opportunities for individuals with a disability and we have received very positive feedback from participating businesses.” Ms. Mallon continued: “The IASE, along with the other organisations involved, put all of the necessary planning and supports in place so employers and job seekers can simply enjoy taking part and get the maximum benefit from the day.” IrishJobs.ie, Ireland’s number one recruitment website, is once again one of the main sponsors of National Supported Employment Week and the Job Shadow initiative. Employers and job seekers interested in participating in Job Shadow Day 2013 are invited to register their interest at www.iase.ie.

Ingenious Uses For White Vinegar Kitchen Remedies Adding a few tablespoons of white vinegar to the water when poaching eggs helps the whites stay formed. Add a few tablespoons to the water when boiling eggs, and if any shells crack, the whites won’t leak out.
towels soaked in vinegar, let them sit, and the cloudy deposits will rinse right off. There’s no need to use bleach on tile grouting when you can let vinegar soak on it and then scrub with a toothbrush.
If your leafy veggies are wilted, soaking them in cold water with a little vinegar can perk them right up.
Bring lightly scuffed or dirty DVDs back to life by wiping them down with some vinegar on a soft cloth.
After chopping an onion, you can eliminate the odour from your hands by rubbing them with a bit of white vinegar.
If you have water condensation marks on your wood, just rub the piece of furniture with equal parts vinegar and vegetable oil to remove them. Make sure to rub with the grain, and then invest in a set of coasters.
When cooking any vegetables from the cabbage family (like broccoli or cauliflower), adding a little vinegar to the water will perk up the taste and reduce the gassiness they can induce. This also works when cooking beans, making Mexican food a far more attractive option. Cleaning House Vinegar can help with a variety of cleaning tasks, since the acid acts as a disinfectant and an odour neutralizer. Cats avoid vinegar, so to keep them from scratching furniture or sitting on certain areas, spray a vinegar solution onto the spot. The steam from a boiling a bowl of vinegar and water can loosen cakedon food. One of my favourite vinegar remedies and my personal weapon against fruit flies is to set out a small dish of white vinegar and some smashed fruit, covered with plastic wrap with some holes in it–the flies crawl into the trap, but can’t get out. If your stemware is cloudy from the dishwasher, wrap the glasses in paper

Outdoor Solutions Tough enough even for the outdoors, vinegar can function as a car cleaner and an organic pest remover. If your car still sports a bumper sticker from two elections ago, remove it by spraying with white vinegar to saturate the area, and the sticker will peel off in a few hours. (You might need to spray it a few times.) Wiping down your car windows and windshield with a three-to-one vinegar-water mixture can keep them frost-free in the wintertime. Kill weeds growing on paths and driveways by pouring vinegar onto them. A half-and-half solution of vinegar and water can even kill garden slugs if it’s sprayed directly onto them. To extend the life of cut flowers, add a few tablespoons of vinegar to the water in their vase, along with a teaspoon of sugar.
We can give your kitchen a new look with a traditional handpainted finish in a colour and finish of your choice. We can also provide you with additional touches such as new tiling, worktops, door handles, soft close hinges, cabinets, wicker baskets, storage bins, wine racks, spice racks, corners and pelmets. The list goes on, and can be worked out to fit into your budget.

Wedding Planning Tips Planning a wedding is not easy! When you first begin planning a wedding, there are so many forks in the road, a multitude of decisions to make, and so many ways to go astray. At this amazing and crazy time in your life, take a minute to step back, relax and organize your thoughts. Get a grip on the project you have just undertaken, follow some seemingly simple steps, and planning a wedding can be a wonderful and memorable experience. Establish a budget, stick to it and don't deviate. This is often a neglected characteristic of planning a wedding. It is essential to get your budget in order before making any financial decisions. Too often, many couples book a reception location or a wedding day professionals without solid financials in hand, only to find out they have overspent and are now bound by a contract.
ITEC, CIBTAC, Nail Technican, Make up Artist
Munster Chauffeurs
Big tip: Use a number for the budget that is 10-15% less than what you actually plan on spending, so you essentially have a buffer when additional expenses arise, because they will. The great thing is that if you don't use your entire buffer, you will have some extra spending money for your honeymoon. Hire Wedding Professionals.
When your best friend's second cousin volunteers to do be your wedding photographer, and promises a nice discount, it might be tempting to take advantage of the offer. However, a big word of caution - hiring friends and family can often backfire. Expectations may not be met on the wedding day and friendships can become estranged. Additionally, these friends may not have all the necessary experience or equipment to complete the task effectively. You should hire wedding professionals for their experience, expertise, and resources. True professionals will assist in making your day hassle free. You hire them, you can direct them, and the relationship is not personal. Create a timeline for the wedding day. If you are not working with a wedding planner, it is your job to create a realistic timeline for everyone to follow. Detail and document all key elements and activities that are to take place on the day. Include addresses of locations and who needs to be where and when. If you do not do this, you take the risk of all the wedding vendors establishing their own agendas. Of course, consult with the ceremony and reception venue, as well as key vendors regarding the timeline, but ultimately most all of the timeline decisions are up to you.

How to find the Perfect Ring! Planning on popping the question this Easter? As exciting a time it is trying to choose the perfect ring can be quite a daunting task. We’ve come to Tadgh O’ Flynn Jewellers in Nenagh the well known specialists in rings for the last 50 years to get some tips and advice. Tadgh Og who’s the shops goldsmith and spends most of his day creating beautiful rings is a true expert, and this is what he had to say; ‘I can identify with people trying to choose the perfect ring as I’ve just been through the whole process, I decided to create a ring for Evelyn and surprise her with the ring I designed and made with her in mind just over a year ago, but this can be quite nerve racking hoping the person will love the ring you have chosen, so I can see why some take the safer route of a proposal ring for the occasion and then together choosing or creating the perfect ring together, we’ve just invested in the world’s most advanced 3D jewellery design system in the world used by companies like Tiffany’s, with this system people can book a consultation and see their dream ring come to life on screen in a 3D design, we are now offering this service free of charge to our customers!. Another thing that is a concern is what rules should people abide by when choosing a ring? How much does one spend? What’s the best metal? How do I judge a good diamond? We put all these questions to Tadgh Og Firstly on how much to spend, there is no right and wrong, everyone is different, in our shop there are no rules it’s all about finding the ring that suits you, for some girls a huge diamond will simply not suit their hand therefore may find the rings suiting them might be below budget. Coloured stones are really popular at the moment, and you get great show for your money so someone looking for a big ring but large diamonds are over budget, a stunning sapphire might suit perfectly, also halo and illusion style rings are huge at the moment, this is surrounding a diamond with smaller diamonds or making up a ring with small stones that looks like one big stones, these are very pocket friendly and actually my wife’s favourite, she love the detail in them. As metal platinum is always our first choice for diamond setting, but again that is not to say gold is not a fantastic metal, people are becoming more adventurous and experimenting with two tone rings i.e. white and yellow gold, or rose (beautiful on Irish skin tones) and white gold or platinum, lately we’re even seeing a lot of men going for two tone wedding bands, they want a classic but with a twist
some kind of individuality, we love to create these rings anything different is an exciting challenge for us. One major thing is no matter what metal the ring is make sure you buy a ring made to last, as a goldsmith I spend half my time making and the other half repairing rings, sometimes people fall into the trap of buying a lovely diamond ring but the actual metal ring part is not substantial and can cause trouble in future years, tell tale signs of mass production are if you look at the inside of the band of a ring and there is metal dug out like a little channel, this is done to save metal or behind the setting is dug out, rings made like this are only suitable for dress wear although pretty not suitable for every day wear. Now the Diamond the 4 C’s are, Carat- How much the diamond weighs (how big it is) the bigger the single diamond the more rare and expensive. Cut- How well the diamond is cut, the proportions of a diamond need to be correct if it to sparkle, we always recommend a good cut. Clarity- IF flawless, diamond has no inclusions(flaws), VVS very very small inclusions, diamond has very very small inclusion that are very hard to detect under magnification x10, VS very small inclusions, diamond has very small inclusion that are hard to detect under magnification x10, SI slightly included, diamond has inclusions that are easy to detect under magnification x10. I included, diamond has inclusions visible by the eye. We recommend and stock diamonds between VVS-SI. Colour- this denotes how white a stone is the whitest is D so like the alphabet D,E,F,G,H. These colours are all in the bright white category and these colours are what we recommend; there will be no hint of yellow in any of these stones. Here at O’ Flynn’s we make sure we educate all our customers and then let them decide what’s important to them, some will want a big carat and go for a H, SI stone, or others will want colour and clarity so a smaller carat but D, VVS quality. This can all be quite confusing but our customers can rest assured that we stick to high standards and do not let any below grade rings out with our name on them, so we will gently guide them in the right direction. ‘ So now you know what to look for best of luck to all, and if in need of some advice be sure to call on O’ Flynn’s of Nenagh we have certainly left there wowed by the diamonds and after learning a thing or two more about these precious rings.

A new Irish start up called Pledgup.com is offering community groups the opportunity to get €1,000 of funding for their cause by signing up for the service before the end of March. The free service enables community groups of all sizes to ask for and process online donations from supporters any where in the world. The competition for a pool of €1,000 is looking for the most innovative fundraising ideas and most deserving causes. The service works by generating a link to a personalised fundraising page which can then be emailed, posted to social media sites or sent by SMS with a call for donations. Groups can ask for straight forward donations or ask people to sponsor individuals taking part in events they are organising like 10K road races. Once people click on the links they are brought to a personalised page where they get details of the fundraiser and can donate via credit card. Commenting cofounder Eoin Kennedy, PledgUp.com said “Organising fundraising events involves a lot of manpower and we want to help community groups to generate more income than just the entry amount for these events. We are seeing individual fundraisers generate over €700 in sponsorship by simply emailing their friends, family
and contacts. Local groups are seeing diminishing returns from targeting the same people for every event and our system makes it simple for them to spread the net wider to the diaspora community who would be willing to help if it was simple and fast for them to donate.” Groups can also get all their members involved by inviting them to join. Once they do they also receive a personalised page and the amount raised by each person is shown to the entire group. Speaking about the competition Mr Kennedy added “Signing up is free and we are looking for community groups of all sizes from those looking to fundraise for local amenities, sports clubs looking for new equipment to schools trying to build extensions . Local groups are very innovative in generating ideas about things they are passionate about. However they can be limited by time and technical expertise. Through PledgUp.com they can set up in minutes by simply entering the details of the fundraiser and leverage their much wider network .” Details of the competition winners will be posted on www.PledgUp.com/blog. Three prizes will be awarded - €500 for 1st place, €300 for 2nd place and €200 for third. The competition runs until March 31st 2013.

The Sunrise Summit Challenge 5 Top Hiking Tips from the Irish Red Cross As the Irish Red Cross gear up for the April 14th Sunrise Summit Challenge, taking place at Tipperary’s Galtymore Mountain, the challenge’s Mountain Guides offer the following tips for anyone taking to the hills this spring: 1. Regardless of the season (this is Ireland after all) be ready for any kind of weather it can change very quickly 2. Have the right footwear - focus on the sole of the shoe as well as ankle support
Female 3. Take enough food and water for the whole day 4. Learn how to use a traditional compass and map
This Project has been part-funded by North Tipperary LEADER Partnership under The Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 which is financed by the EU through the European Agriculture Fund for Rural Development and by the National Exchequer through the National Development Plan.
5. Research the walk before setting off - don’t bite off more than you can chew The Sunrise Summit Challenge offers a unique opportunity to hike through the early morning darkness, reaching the mountain summits in time to watch the sunrise over the Tipperary, whilst also raising funds for the Irish Red Cross’ humanitarian work in Ireland and around the world. The April 14th event, which will simultaneously take place at ten mountain locations across Ireland, will be led by fully trained Irish Red Cross Mountain Guides. See www.redcross.ie to register and for more information, all participants must have registered in advance of the event; registration closing date is April 8th

Peugeot Welcomes Rally Ace Craig Breen As New Brand Ambassador Rally ace, Craig Breen, Irish International Driver of the Year 2012, has taken delivery of a new Peugeot 208 to celebrate his appointment as a Brand Ambassador for Peugeot Ireland. The new Peugeot 208 Active 1.4 HDi is the perfect partner to the young star. An award winner itself, the stylish new Peugeot 208 is currently Irish Small Car of the Year 2013 and directly contributed to a 7% market share growth for Peugeot in January. Craig recently landed the new Peugeot Sport Factory Rally Driver title and was selected to train at the new Peugeot Sport Rally Academy. He celebrated his 23rd birthday at Rally Latvia with a second place win in his Peugeot 207 S2000.
Super World Rally Championship winner 2012, Craig will race in eight European Rally Championship (ERC) events this year. When not competing, Craig will lead an intensive test programme for the newly named Peugeot 208T16, destined for the ERC scene in late 2013. On the announcement, Craig Breen said, "This is incredible and beyond my dreams. I am really excited to work with a manufacturer like Peugeot Sport and to become a Brand Ambassador for Peugeot Ireland has really sealed the deal for me.” Retailing from €14,785 plus dealer delivery related charges, Peugeot’s newly launched 208 comes with five years peace of mind motoring.
Pictured from left to right are George Harbourne, Peugeot Managing Director, Andrew Slattery, Service Manager at Slattery’s Garage and Craig Breen, Peugeot Sport rally ace.
Slattery’s Garage Do the Double at Peugeot Dealer Aftersales Awards Peugeot held their annual Aftersales Conference recently at the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Dublin, attended by 80 Parts Managers and Service Managers from across the Peugeot Dealer Network in Ireland. At the conference, Peugeot presented the Peugeot Service Manager of the Year 2013 award to Andrew Slattery, Slattery’s Garage, Puckane. At 26, Andrew is the youngest Service Manager to ever win the award. Zoltan Hicz, Parts Manager at Slattery’s Garage, was awarded Peugeot Parts Manager of the Year 2013. Craig Breen, Peugeot Sport rally ace, made a guest appearance at the conference, which was also attended by Automobiles Peugeot representatives Iain Rae and Francois-Xavier Delvallee. Speaking at the Peugeot Aftersales Conference, Andrew said, “I am delighted with the Peugeot Service Manager of the Year Award and it is an added bonus for Zoltan to bring home the Parts Manager Award. At Slattery’s Garage, we’ve worked very hard to ensure our customers receive a second-to-none experience. It is extremely gratifying to win the two accolades.” Zoltan holds a BA Hons in Mechanical Engineering from Budapest University and resides in Borrisokane with his wife and three children. He began his career in the motor industry in Hungary in 1997 working for Peugeot before moving to Ireland in 2007 and bringing with him a wealth of experience and knowledge to Slattery’s Garage. He is a Formula One and Rally fanatic.
Peugeot Aftersales in Ireland assess their Dealers by examining progress during a 12-month period to ensure Peugeot standards are implemented. On the Service side, a high Customer Satisfaction Index must be achieved and vehicles maintained to the highest standard. An effective Customer Relationship Management programme must be in place and the Dealership must participate at regular technical training courses. In terms of Parts objectives, Dealers are assessed on stock management, accomplishment of sales targets for parts and accessories and showroom display of Peugeot Boutique.
Recognised by Peugeot’s adjudication team for the excellent all-round Service and Parts that they have provided, Andrew and Zoltan were clear winners of this year’s titles. All customers at Slattery’s Garage Puckane are invited to join the Peugeot Service Club, a service loyalty programme entitling customers to every fourth service free. The Peugeot Service Club is Pictured from left to right are George open to everybody, every make and Harbourne, Peugeot Managing every model. Prayers The Miraculous Prayer – Dear Heart of Jesus, in the past I’ve asked for many favours. This time I ask You this very special one (mention favour). Take it Dear Heart of Jesus and place it within Your own broken heart where Your Father sees it. Then in His merciful eyes it will become Your favour, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for 3 days, promise publication and favour will be granted. Never known to fail. A.C. The Miraculous Prayer – Dear Heart of Jesus, in the past I’ve asked for many favours. Counselling Anxiety
(continued from previous issue)
By Jim O’Shea Anxiety sufferers are in a constant state of worry and fear about bad things that may never happen, and they may suffer from racing thoughts. Sometimes they feel that they are going crazy. They feel out of control and powerless. There is a fear that something awful is about to happen, a fear of coming disaster. This can become overwhelming. Sufferers of toxic anxiety want to be constantly reassured. Children who suffer from anxiety generally behave very well in school, but there is always fear etched on their faces. Anxious people like routine, and are upset by any change in this. They are also inclined to be withdrawn. Indeed their sadness makes others avoid them and thus reinforces their anxiety. Perfectionism is one of the symptoms of anxiety. It is also a symptom of shame, but anxiety and shame are related. If a person is ‘perfect’ and does everything ‘perfectly’ they are comforted by the thought that they cannot be ridiculed, and therefore they will not feel anxious.
Anxiety. Some distressing physical symptoms Apart from these painful psychological symptoms, sufferers also experience many distressing physical or somatic symptoms. Being constantly anxious increases the adrenalin in a person’s blood so that they are always on the alert. This is a painful way to be. Ultimately, the adrenalin runs out and leaves them exhausted. I remember visiting a specialist for an angiogram, and he remarked on the great amount of adrenalin around my heart. I never realised before that it can actually be seen. For a number of years before my retirement I was relying on adrenalin for my energy. It eventually ran out and I was left exhausted, and it took a long time for my energy to return. So, modern stressors, just as primitive ones, also produce adrenalin. These, however, are not always flight or fight situations that would burn off the adrenalin rush. So we are left with a great amount of adrenalin and we cannot burn it off. This fosters anxiety. Modern stressors might include pressure at work, bullying in the workplace, financial worries, relationship difficulties, fear of school, and so on. There are specific stressors that lead to specific anxieties and fears, mentioned in an earlier article, which we will look at later. Anxiety also increases the acid in the stomach and may lead to ulcers. Constant anxiety causes continuous, relentless tension, which causes stomach upset, and worriers often get the feeling of ‘butterflies’ in their stomach. They experience that sickening sensation of their stomachs turning, or getting a knot in their stomachs. Anxious people may find that their mouths tend to be dry, and their muscles feel tense. This may cause headaches. Thinking about their
own particular stressor may make them break out in sweat, causing their heart to pound, making it difficult for them to breathe, and making them dizzy. Being in an anxiety-provoking situation causes them to have clammy hands. Clammy hands is a natural response to stress, but this symptom can also come from some other complaints, for example, nausea, anorexia, weakness and so on. Sufferers are likely to experience sleep problems, and may find it difficult to fall asleep or to remain asleep. I will look at insomnia in more detail in later articles. Anxious people find it difficult to concentrate because they are consumed with anxiety. Those anxious feelings, racing thoughts and unpleasant sensations intrude, and disrupt their concentration. As their bodies react to strong feelings of anxiety, many people suffer from diarrhoea and frequent urination. Sometimes stress and anxiety manifest themselves in obvious physical signs. Some suffer skin problems, asthma and so on. I always know when I have had an anxious period, because the skin on my hands peels. It is a clear sign to me that I have been anxious, usually a week prior to the outbreak of peeling. When my child was killed, the entire palms of my hands peeled with the stress that I felt at this loss. Anxiety also interferes with a person’s sex-drive. I will be looking at erectile dysfunction in more detail in a later article. Severe anxiety can also be lethal leading to strokes and heart attacks. I believe that chronic (ongoing and long lasting) anxiety damages the heart. That, at least, is my own personal experience, although I cannot rule out hereditary factors in this area.
