he Annenberg Retreat at Sunnylands – For nearly 50 years, Walter and Leonore Annenberg welcomed Presidents of the United State and International leaders from politics, education, science and the arts to their 200 acre Rancho Mirage estate. Opens to the public in March, offering a venue for high-level meetings of business and political leaders, as well as a glimpse at collections of fine art, Steuben glass, Chinese antiquities and silver gilt. Sunnylands is an impressive array of modern sculpture – ranging from Auguste Rodin’s Eternal Spring and Alberto Giacometti’s Bust of Diego on Stele 111 to kinetic works by Yaacov Agam and Harry Bertoia – as well as canvases and works on paper by 19th and 20th century artists, including Andrew Wyeth, who in 1978 painted a portrait of Walter Annenberg. Visitors will relax in the great room with its spectacular view of Mt. San Jacinto, enjoy the menu options in the cafe, and browse in the store. Sunnylands featured a world renowned art collection housed in an architecturally significant home surrounded by a beautifully designed golf course in a tranquil desert setting. www.info@sunnylands.org or Call (760) 202-2222
