f you need an excuse to go to San Francisco, and who needs an excuse, it’s time for the 24th annual International Ms Leather contest and 12th annual Ms Bootblack contest weekend, April 15-18. Touted as the world’s largest event for Leatherwomen, and those that love them, this is a weekend packed full of everything from Burlesque to temptation to celebrity charity auction to speed dating to… You get the picture.

International Ms Leather organizers pride themselves on creating a diverse event for everyone regardless of age, religion, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, relationship status, or gender - if you love leather, you will love this event.

Friday and Saturday as International Ms Bootblack contestants compete to earn your vote.

Sunday Brunch enjoy breakfast and a slideshow of the weekend’s events, and meet the new IMsL and IMsBB. Betty Dodson PhD, artist, author, and sexologist, will be the keynote speaker on Sunday. Dodson has been one of the princepal voices for women’s sexual pleasure and health for over three decades.

According to organizers, Dodson had the first one-woman show of erotic art in ’68 in nyc followed by three others. She produced and presented the first feminist slide show of vulvas at the 1973 NOW Sexuality Conference in New York where she introduced the electric vibrator as a pleasure device. For 23 years, she ran Bodysex groups where women learned about their bodies and orgasms through the practice of selfstimulation.

Her first book, Liberating Masturbation: A Meditation on Selflove (’74) became a feminist classic. Sex for One (’87) sold over a million copies. Orgasms for Two (’02) embraces partner sex. She has authored numerous articles on the subject of women’s sexual pleasure and orgasm. Wrote/produced/directed 5 erotic sex educational videos on her ground breaking handson teaching. In 1994, she earned a PhD in clinical sexology.

Dodson has presented at conferences for sexual scientists, therapists, and psychologists.

She has been interviewed on prime time cable television shows from the ‘70s to present including The History Channel; The O’Reilly Factor; The View; BET; HBO; Donahue; Sally Jesse Raphael; Geraldo; Joan Rivers; etc. She has been featured in national publications such as O Magazine, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Marie Claire, Playboy; Playgirl, Penthouse, Ms. Magazine, Bust, Time Out NY, LA and Chicago.

ucson – Gone for several years, the Bears of the Old Pueblo have returned home to the Venture-N. Every 4th Saturday, you can join the non-profit social group for cold beer and hot chili on the Venture-N’s sunny back patio, which is where it all began for the bruins in the fall of 1992.

Besides the 4th Saturday Venture-N beer bust, the Bears have monthly meetings which include a social hour and a meal, often a pot luck, which are held the second Friday of every month at the Ward VI offices, 3202 E 1st St, at 6:30 pm. There are also a variety of monthly and seasonal events including dinners out, game nights, movie nights, pool parties, excursions, etc. The big event is La Fiesta de Los Osos which will be held on MLK weekend 2011, at the host hotel, Randolph Park Hotel and Suites. Over 400 Bears from around the country, Canada and Mexico migrate to sunny Tucson to attend this event.

For the beer busts, Drafts of beer and soda are just $1 and pitchers are only $2.50. Bowls of the bears’ famous chili are just $2. And if that wasn’t enough to lure you out of hibernation, 100% of the proceeds go to a non-profit.

Editor’s Letter The embracing of Desert Knight News from the Bear, Leather, BDSM and Fetish communities has been awesome! We appreciate your comments and feedback. It goes to show that there was a need for a publication with this focus.

This month is very busy, so busy that we didn’t have room to fit in every story or event that affects you the reader. One of the events that was omitted, but is still very important, is Phoenix Pride which takes place April 17 & 18 at Indian Steel Park.

Today’s “pride” movement dates back to the Stonewall riots in 1969. Instead of backing down to unconstitutional raids on GLBT bars by New York Police, gay, lesbian, and bisexual people, led by transgender individuals fought back. Although it turned violent and led to days of riots, it gave this community its first sense of communal pride. This event sparked a grassroots movement that has led us to today. GLBT people no longer hide in the shadows, we have found our voice.

We hope that Desert Knight News helps to shine a light on other communities as well, and gives you a voice. Join us at Phoenix Pride. We will be housed between the Off Chute Too and ‘N Touch News tents.

Why would you want to stretch your balls?

Since I myself have never stretched my testicles, I felt it best to bring in expert Jarod Johnsen who penned, The Art of Ball Stretching.

Mr. Johnsen says that from Greek times to the present, low hanging testicles are envied by other men. He argues that they are immediately noticed by others in the showers, gyms, and saunas across the world. They tend to escalate a manly status and even evoke a sexual desire in men when they see another man with low hanging testicles. Perhaps the first thought is that it does look powerful and highly sexual, and perhaps the second thought is that of a kind of jealousy because they themselves also desire to have lower hanging testicles.

Now, whether this is true or not, I assume you want an answer that centers on a more physical reason. Does it bring pleasure; does it enable me to keep a woody longer?

Although some men are into Cock and Ball Torture (they have a tolerance and enjoyment of painful procedures that are directed at the penis and testicles), relatively few men who stretch their balls are into CBT. Of course the first thing most people think of is pain, but ball stretching is highly erotic, and the feeling it creates is a very good sort of sexual tingle in the testicles and up the spermatic cord (the cord which delivers the sperm from the testicles into the body just before orgasm).

Mr. Johnsen warns if any sort of pain is felt in the process of stretching the testicles, it is usually a minor skin itch or irritation underneath a leather ball stretcher, or a pinch of the skin between two collars. In any case, this type of pain can easily be alleviated by a minor adjustment to the stretcher or collars in the men’s bathroom.

“If a sharp pain is felt, the stretching equipment should be removed and not used again until the pain completely disappears. Pain can also be felt as a sort of soreness in the spermatic cords and up inside the abdomen, and this is always the result of too aggressive a stretching regimen. Another kind of typical pain that may be experienced includes a dull ache in one or both testicles. This is when the testicle is slowly and lightly squeezed over a period of time. Adjustment of the scrotum can help with this, by pulling some scrotal skin back opposite from the leather stretcher or ball weight so that the testicle has room to be free in the scrotum again. Also, a tug, by wrapping the thumb and forefinger around the top of the testicles and pulling down can help pull some scrotal skin down as well as pulling the testicles out of the confinement of the leather stretcher or ball weight. There may be a soreness or dull pain in the spermatic cord, felt on or near the pubic bone when touched. When pulling the testicles downward, there may be a slight pain in the spermatic cords from the testicle to the pubic bone.

“A more serious pain is an unexplained sharp pain which may occur suddenly or over a period of time. This pain is sharp and constant, never letting up. If sharp pain is felt, remove the stretcher and ball weights. This allows for the normal flow of blood to resume in the case that the weight or leather stretcher was hindering the flow of blood. If the pain does not improve, the condition of testicular torsion may have occurred. This is when the spermatic cord supplying blood to the testicle is twisted in such a way as to block the flow of blood to the testicle and surrounding tissues. A prolonged testicular torsion may result in the death of the testicle and surrounding tissues.

Therefore, if pain is not eliminated by removal of the stretcher or weights after a short period of time, a trip to the Emergency Room may be necessary in order to save the testicle from death. Note that this unrelenting pain is always felt in only one testicle, not both.”

Okay, now that we have done our obligatory “warning” let’s get on with the good stuff!

By applying a gentle but gradually increasing tension over a long period of time, the scrotum and internal connective tissue suspending the testicles inside the scrotum will stretch.

Actually, the words “Ball Stretching” are a partial misnomer.

The stretching of the scrotal sack stimulates new cell growth in the scrotal sack and internal tissues contained within the scrotal sack. The application of a small constant tension to the ball sack is the stimulus and the body’s response is the gradual growth of new scrotal sack and internal tissue cells which make the scrotal sack grow lower and larger.

There are four basic methods to stretch the scrotum and testicles: manual stretching alone, stretching using readily available items, stretching using leather ball stretchers of various lengths used alone or in combinations, and stretching using stainless steel ball weights of various weights used alone or in combinations. You can also use all four methods.

Also, applying certain topical ointments can be used which improve the skin elasticity of the scrotum, and shortens the amount of time it takes to get to your desired length.

I will discuss the leather and ball weight options.

A leather stretcher pushes in both directions, upward against the base of the formation of the scrotum and downwards against the testicles. The length of scrotal skin between these two points is then stretched at a comfortable level in both directions. Stretchers tend to come in standard lengths: ½ inch, 1 inch, 1½ inch, 2 inch, 2½ inch, 3 inch, and even 4 inches.

Leather stretchers typically come with snap fasteners the entire length of the stretcher, with approximately one snap for every inch of the stretcher length.

A ball stretcher feels wonderful because it hugs the entire length of the scrotum from the testicles up to the base of the penis where the scrotum begins its formation. You may also gradually use leather pouches that attach to the ball stretcher that can gradually be filled with pellets to increase the pull.

Using metal weights, also called ball weights, steel collars, or split collars, the correct size is the most important factor in selecting the correct weight to use. First, a size measurement must be obtained.

The inside hole where the testicles are pulled through should be 20-26% smaller than the circle measured around the top of the testicles. In a pinch, no pun intended, your pinky finger should be able to fit between the steel collar and your junk. You have to achieve a balance between being too loose and being too tight. I strongly suggest going somewhere to get help in fitting yourself for metal weights. .

It is clearly obvious that care, caution, and gentle handling of the testicles, weights, and leather stretchers are an absolute MUST, but apparently the pleasure one experiences stretching one’s balls is worth it.

Local News Southwest Leather Pride selects new Sir & boy

By Staff Phoenix - On Saturday, March 6, 2010, a panel of seven judges selected Wayne Davis Southwest Leather Sir 2010 and boy Jerry Heitman as the new Southwest Leatherboy for 2010.

In addition to fundraising, attending leather events and contests, judging contests, and representing the Leather community, the titleholders will also serve as ambassadors for the Southwest region of the United States.

Held at the Bunkhouse Saloon during the Southwest Leather Pride 2010 weekend, this year’s events were produced by Keith Tomlinson and Don Hilton. The panel of judges included Tony Palazzo International Leather Sir 2009, Brad Hill International Leather boy 2009, Daddy Alan International Mr. Leather 2009, 2nd Runner Up; Mr. Atlanta Eagle 2009, Syr Evan International Community Boot Black, Bill Mitchell American Leather Man 2003, Patrick Kelley from Off Chute Too and Publisher of Desert Knight News and Bob Weber Mr. Phoenix Leather 2009.

Phurfest 2010– Bear Blanket Bingo Phoenix - Bears of the West “Phurfest 2010– Bear Blanket Bingo” is set for April 29, 30, May 1-3 in Phoenix. The Phurfest fundraiser attracts participants from across the country and Canada for five days of entertainment, pool parties, local bar events and more. Quality Inn Suites has been designated as the official host hotel for this year’s event.

This years Phurfest Committee selected AGAPE, a non-profit which provides food for those living with HIV/AIDS in the Valley for their beneficiary. .

This year’s theme, “Bear Blanket Bingo” is a campy spinoff from the vintage classic film “Beach Blanket Bingo.” An overall beach theme will encompass the weekend including a Hawaiian styled Luau themed dinner and show on the Saturday evening of the event.

Registration includes two fun-filled pool parties featuring movies at the host hotel, co-sponsored by the Phoenix Movie Bears. Additional events include a bar crawl, transportation to and from a variety of bar locations via shuttle during the weekend and a special (optional cost item) Bear Brunch at Cherry Bar on the Sunday of the event. A half-day trip to Luxury Lighting, an interactive design studio where you select your design, light fixture, color and more is also planned.

For over eight years, The Bears of the West has served the greater Phoenix community raising thousands of dollars for local non-profits through Phurfest and other events.

“It’s been four years and we haven’t forgotten about Maurice Green. We’ll continue to honor his memory and let the public know that our community will not tolerate this type of violence,” said Councilman Tom Simplot.

This year Chain of Command will be hosting a variety of demonstrations during the run. These demonstrations will vary in theme from practical BDSM sessions to discussions and presentations on topics of interest to the community. The demonstrations will be presented by experts in their fields.

The main contest of the event is Mr. UnChained. This contest is different from others in that the club will observe run attendees, and select a few that they think should receive the title. These people will then be asked a few questions, and the club will then elect a new Mr. UnChained.

The Texas Conference of Clubs, Inc. owns and operates a private 30-plus acre campground outside of Cameron, Texas.

The Conference is composed of member clubs, independent members and commercial organizations. Chain of Command is a long-time member of the conference.

The campground provides all the amenities you need to have a great weekend. They have showers, flush toilets, a commercialgrade kitchen, a bunkhouse, and the pole barn with the stage.

Reader sounds off With recent articles in Desert Knight News on electro stimulation and sounding, I thought it would be nice to share my experience using both. To start please understand that I am still new to electro stimulation, but have started to experiment with it and my other fetishes. Including cock rings and anal play.

What I have done is to combine the “Kookie” diddle sounds set and e-stim “ProM-350” both purchased at “Off Chute Too” in Phoenix.
