CV REP 2016 Holiday Thank You Party for Sponsors and Supporters By Jack Lyons Theatre and Film Critic Last week CV REP founder and Artistic Director Ron Celona, along with over 350 attendees, celebrated the holidays with a ‘Thank You’ gathering for sponsors and supporters at the Bonta Restaurant, in Cathedral City. professional theatre, located in Rancho Mirage, launched its search for a larger live theatre venue in 2016. The current venue, an intimate 88 seat nicely appointed theatre that has been presenting top quality live theatre for eight years has been planning to expand their operations for some time. On Wednesday a judge ruled against the City of Palm Springs’ temporary restraining order banning people from touring the holiday lights display. “The courtroom’s reaction was everybody applauded and I applauded too because it was a great outcome for everyone involved you know just to see that happiness in that place it really just lightened me up,” says Kenny Irwin, the property’s owner and artist. For months the city has been trying to get Irwin to comply with requests to stop
giving tours until he fixed safety violations. Among the issues: inflatables on the rooftop and electrical wiring after an electrical fire in May. Irwin had fixed some of the problems but continued racking up thousands in fines for giving tours with the outstanding safety violations. Despite the ruling, the city says they accomplished their goal. “Finally took six months and a lawsuit but engineer documents were submitted by Mr. Irwin’s attorneys indicating that the structures on the property that were originally believed to be unsafe were in
