It was a soulful holiday tradition an unforgettable evening of pop hits and holiday favorites at the MacCallum Story and Photo by Pat Krause The Colors of Christmas concert at the McCallum Theatre was held on Sunday Dec. 14th. Four incredible performers, Peabo Bryson, Taylor Dayne, Jennifer Holliday and Ruben Studdard graced the stage singing some of the most beloved Christmas songs. Each artist gave their own rendition
of the songs they sang. They sang as a group for a lot of the melodies. Peabo Bryson started the evening performance by bringing out the rest of the artists to have a group song. Peabo performed solo and came into the audience and shook hands with people in the first couple rows. He after that brought out Taylor Dayne
to sing with him and next do a solo number. Taylor is an actress along with being a million seller songstress. Taylor Introduced Ruben Studdard and they sang together before Ruben gave his own solo performance. Ruben Studdard, 2003, American Idol winner, said he has waited 12 years to put out his private Christmas CD that is now on
Murder Charges Filed Against La Quinta Teen By KMIR News Staff A young man arrested following a chase that resulted in several collisions in Cathedral City was charged today with murder in the shooting death of a Palm Desert resident.Kurtis Knigge, 18, of La Quinta, was arrested shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday in connection with the chase and burglaries and vehicle thefts, and was later booked without bail in connection with the murder of
26-year-old Conrado Pizarro. Knigge pleaded not guilty to murder -- as well as a felony count of shooting at a vehicle and sentence-enhancing allegations of using a firearm and inflicting great bodily injury -- at his arraignment Monday afternoon at the Larson Justice Center in Indio. Riverside County Superior Court Judge Victoria Cameron set his bail at $2 million and ordered him back to court
Jan. 7 for a felony settlement conference. Pizarro was gunned down around 9 p.m. Dec. 3 at Washington Street and Avenue of the States in Palm Desert and died two days later, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities haven’t disclosed a possible motive for the killing. Continues on Page 6
the market. Ruben said he was thrilled to be on the stage with Jennifer Holliday and they performed a duet. Ruben introduced Jennifer Holliday where they did a couple of duets before Jennifer took to the stage to do her own solo numbers. Jennifer and Peabo are both two-time Grammy award winners.
This was a beautiful concert to get the audience in the Christmas spirit with all the lovely Christmas Music. Each artist had a favorite Christmas song they wanted to share with the guests. The concert was presented through the generosity of Milton and Areta McKenzie.
