Photo by Pat Krause Story and Photos by Pat Krause The Artists Council held its 2022 Show and Sale on Friday, Feb 11th, at the formerly known Galen Center in Palm Desert. This exhibition of art by local Artists Council members

was a juried event. They have been hosting these events for over 20 years. Artists Council Board Chair David Hatcher welcomed all the guests. Some local guests were allowed only 30 minutes to view the art

because of covid restrictions. Vaccinations and masks were required, and valet service was available. Over 500 people attended, where food and beverages were served in the outdoor Gardens.

Patrick Evans hosted the awards. Evans noted that visual arts play a much-needed role in our Valley. Evans has been a part of Eye On The Desert TV and noticed how art has changed over the years. Artists

Council members have been on his show many times. He said that over 148 people entered their craft, and only 90 were chosen to display and vie

Celebrating this nonprofit’s 10th Anniversary, the event hosted a sold-out crowd of over 1,000 attendees who gave over $1 million in support, in addition to the $1,250,000.00 Capital Campaign pledge by the organization’s Lead Donors Emmett and Antoinette Clancy. “The luncheon and 10th Anniversary celebration with former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was an astounding success, all praise and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ!” stated Jan Lupia, Luncheon Cochair, Founder, and Executive

Director of Mama’s House. “I know people come to see what the excitement around Mama’s House is all about, and from there, God touches their hearts to give and/or serve as they are able. I’ve watched this time and time again, and no one is ever more surprised at the overwhelming outpouring of support than me.” The night before the luncheon, Mama’s House hosted a VIP Reception and Dinner at Toscana Country Club, with Mike Pompeo in attendance for over 200 top donors. Lee Rocker Celebrates Legacy In Spades

Music lovers who came to the legendary Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA on Friday night (Feb. 11, 2022) were treated to an outstanding set from headliner Lee Rocker. Rocker achieved international fame as a founding member of The Stray Cats at the dawn of the 1980s, and has since continued to champion rockabilly and roots rock performing on stage or in the studio alongside a wide range of legendary artists including Ringo Starr, George Harrison, Keith Richards, Willie Nelson, John Fogerty and the late Carl Perkins. At The Coach House, Rocker was backed by his terrific trio featuring Buzz Campbell (guitar, banjo), Larry Mitchell (drums) and Matthew Jordan (keyboards) for an exhilarating 85-minute set. The troupe delivered a stellar showcase featuring plenty of Stray Cats favorites and energetic covers as well as highlights from Rocker’s rich solo career and a gem from his stint from Phantom, Rocker & Slick (a project that featured Rocker, Stray

Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom and guitar virtuoso Earl Slick). Rocker recently released his highly-anticipated album “Gather Round” and standouts from that disc were featured at the concert. The quartet opened with an extended version of “Stray Cat Strut,” reworked from the oft-heard Stray Cats hit into a stylish romp where Rocker, Jordan and Campbell were each able to display their masterful chops. The fiery “Runaway Boys” followed, fully rekindling the rockabilly revival that Rocker, Phantom and Brian Setzer created four decades ago. There was a joyful spirit throughout Rocker’s 20song set. After performing a spirited version of the title tracks from the Cats’ 1982 “Built For Speed” and “Gather Round,” he brought his son Justin Drucker to the stage and turned back the clock to deliver more stripped down material including a buoyant medley of Elvis Presley’s “That’s All Right” and “Blue Moon of Kentucky,” an animated take on Perkins’ “Honey

Don’t” and tender reading of Steve Goodman’s “City of New Orleans” – the latter bolstered by Jordan’s accordion playing. He also performed an acoustic version of “The Last Offline Lovers,” a song written for his wife Deborah Drucker (they celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on the day of the concert). Rocker then picked up the tempo for the speedy rocker “When Nothing’s Going Right” (a song from the Cats’ recent reunion disc “40”) and retrostyled “Men Without Shame”; other late set highlights included the Louisianamining “Graceland Auctions” and ‘50s sounding ballad “I Won’t Stand In Your Way.” The night ended with four standouts. The blistering “Bulletproof” (the title track off his 2003 album), soaring “Rumble in Brighton,” aptlypegged “Rock This Town” and zestful closer “Rockabilly Boogie” made for the perfect parade of cuts to close out a wonderful night. The Black Swans: War and High Inflation… Our greatest fear today By Janice Gough The day was June 28, 1914. The event: An assassination that changed the world forever … The Archduke of Austria and his wife were shot in Sarajevo, Bosnia, setting off a chain reaction that exploded into the first world war in the history of humanity and decimated the global economy, which later ignited the most incredible hyperinflation ever recorded. But when trading began the following day in New York, the market was quiet, and the Dow Industrials rose a meager 0.14%, the equivalent of just 48 points today.

Investors obviously did not care about the assassination, or they didn’t know what it meant. Most world leaders were equally oblivious, and before it was all over, 20 million people had paid the ultimate price. Today, even with Eastern Europe on the brink of a devastating conflict, it is premature to predict the outcome, but it’s not too soon to raise the alarm for all investors: If Russia invades Ukraine, it will trigger a regional war, a global cyberwar, a trade war, and a currency war. Yet, many investors are complacent because that’s not what happened when Russia invaded the country in 2014. Russia seized control over three Ukrainian oblasts — Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk. An oblast is a term in Ukrainian: in English referred to as a region, refers to one of Ukraine’s 24 primary administrative units. Ukraine is a unitary state. Thus, the regions do not have much legal scope of competence other than established in the Ukrainian Constitution and by law. Compared to the size of Ukraine vs. Us territories, it is like a foreign country grabbing Texas, California, and Florida. Nevertheless, back then, the response from the West was muted — some protests, some sanctions, but little more. In fact, it was so subdued that President Putin was empowered to order the annexation of Crimea into the Russian Federation promptly. Worse, it sent a clear message of Western

complacency that has continued to empower Putin to this very day. This time, however, it is vastly different. If Russia invades again, the U.S., NATO and their allies are prepared to respond with aggressive actions to decimate the alreadysinking Russian economy. Putin will not take that sitting down. Russia controls the largest reserves of natural gas on the planet, nearly onequarter of the total supply. If his back is against the wall, he’s likely to conclude he has nothing to lose by retaliating against the West with every economic weapon at his fingertips, starting with gas exports. (Brent crude oil, already nearing $100 per barrel, and U.S. regular gasoline, already on its way to $4 per gallon, will skyrocket uncontrollably.) Second, the world’s largest economies, now more polarized than at any time since the Cold War, will split into two opposing spheres: THE WEST — countries aligned with the U.S., Western Europe, and Japan, versus … THE EAST — all those aligned with the Russian Federation and China. In the wake of a Russian invasion of Ukraine and a united Western response, unaligned countries will be forced to pick sides. Trade wars between the two spheres will run rampant. East-West trade as we know it today — including the massive China-U.S. and China-EU trade relationships — will be shattered. The cost of commodities,

microchips and virtually every product under the sun will go through the roof. The Third change will be global inflation, which has been surging, could exceed 20%. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) explains it this way: “Inflation has plunged countries into long periods of instability. “Central bankers often aspire to be known as ‘inflation hawks.” Politicians have won elections with promises to combat inflation, only to lose power after failing. Why then, may I ask, have the U.S. Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank, the Bank of England, and the Bank of Japan, not to mention the IMF itself who planted inflation timebombs in nearly every corner of the world? We must question why they have continued to pump inflationary fuel into their economies even after the fires of inflation were everywhere to be seen? The culprits of inflation were all around us; even when we complained to politicians, they continued to print money out of control, creating higher government deficits. With mountains of unpayable debts! All are significant drivers of high, double-digit inflation! But never forget this: If raging war and rampant inflation are our destiny, even those who get rich will lose. There is no silver lining, no pot of gold big enough to compensate for the sacrifice and pain. On June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated was a Sunday. So, U.S. financial markets were

Protect Yourself from Omicron By Desert Star Staff Omicron is between 1.5 to 3 times more transmissible than the Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. Additionally, people who manifest symptoms do so more quickly than with previous strains -- sometimes just two to three days after exposure. And recent evidence shows daily Omicron deaths in the United States have exceeded those from the Delta variant. Amid these troubling facts, there is pervasive confusion about what steps individuals should be taking right now to protect themselves. “Although we have effective tools -- particularly vaccines -to limit the spread of the virus and severity of COVID-19. The latest surge of cases fueled by the Omicron variant has created new challenges and raises important questions about masks, testing and isolation guidance,” says Gerald E. Harmon, M.D., president of the American Medical Association (AMA). With easily transmissible

Omicron, the now dominant variant, here’s what you need to know to keep yourself safe, according to the AMA: • Get vaccinated: Although breakthrough infections have increased with Omicron, COVID-19 vaccines remain extraordinarily effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization and death. So all those who are eligible for the vaccine and booster should get them. Learn more at GetVaccineAnswers.org. • Wear a higher-quality mask: The CDC says that while the best mask is the mask you’re going to wear consistently, well-fitted respirators, such as KN95s and N95s, provide the highest level of protection. In addition, N95s are no longer in short supply. The federal government recently announced that it is sending 400 million N95 respirators to pharmacies and community health centers across the country, where you can get them free of charge. Instead of respirators, surgical masks and double February 16, 2022

masking also offer additional protection over a cloth mask. • Testing is critical: Visit ama-assn.org/delivering-care for a helpful guide from the AMA on which test is right for you. You should consider getting tested if you have symptoms or if you have had a known close exposure to someone with COVID-19, and maybe before gathering indoors with people outside of your household. The AMA suggests testing negative before ending any isolation period if you test positive. An antigen test is the best tool to

closed. But even the next day, Monday, June 29, 1914, the Dow Jones Industrials (DJI) rose only 0.11 points, or a meager 0.138%, from 79.89 to 80.0. As a comparison, today, Feb. 14, 2022, an equivalent change in the DJI from Friday’s close of 34,738 would be a rise of only 47.83 points. Some belief these apparently “trivial” facts, first pointed out by UBS chief economist Paul Donovan last month, are critical to understanding the market sentiment today: As often occurs, investors could be seriously underestimating a likely world-changing event and may continue to do so until it’s too late. The total area of the three Russian-occupied oblasts in Ukraine is 30,965 square miles or 13.2% of Ukraine’s territory. (The area of Texas, California, and Florida, which represents 13.1% of U.S. territory.) And yet, despite the great impact this has had on Ukraine, there was relatively little movement in the West to oppose it, an error that could forever be remembered as a fatal pivot point in history. A lot is at stake; we must all pray that the right decisions are made. Janice Gough is a Financial Consultant located at 1111ETahquitz, Bldg. 120, Ste.#121, in Palm Springs. determine whether someone is still infectious. And even if the repeat test is negative when ending isolation, patients are advised to wear medicalgrade masks for at least five days after ending isolation. You can receive four free, at-home COVID tests by signing up here: special.usps.com/testkits. “We continue to urge those with questions about COVID-19 vaccines to talk to their physician. HOROSCOPES ARIES

Right communication comes from right observation, being a dispassionate yet curious onlooker. You think about friendships, warm comforting food, harmonious surroundings and kind people with shared thoughts. You seek peaceloving friendships, inclusive intelligent conversations, bubbly things to drink. And you consider whether you should participate in invitations or not. You think of sitting by the fire at home, reading a book, family all around. You choose your heart’s desire.

TAURUS You’re out and about in the world. Everyone sees you as attractive, charming, responsible, a leader, someone intelligent, kind and in charge. People like you. You rub shoulders with those in power, in the know, highly positioned. You negotiate through social interactions with great subtlety. You’re affectionate and happy seeing new opportunities arise. You’re successful due to your artistic talents. People’s heads turn as you walk by. Remember what’s real and what’s not. You’re real.

GEMINI You need to expand beyond the routine, beyond the daily news. People worldwide, of different disciplines, education, culture and backgrounds need to hear what you have to say. You are the dispenser of new information. It’s

important to seek out the arts and entertainments. What are they? You’re to be part of creating the new era. Group work becomes vital, stabilizing your talents & gifts. Maintain health with focused intent for you are to build, with others, the new culture & civilization.

CANCER You seek a certain intensity and truth telling in all encounters, even casual interactions. Anything superficial obstructs your thinking. You consider what this vulnerable state of limitation means. You do not want to feel betrayal. You want to feel and express your ever moving forward intelligent nature. And you seek this in return with others. You begin to see beauty in everything. And seek to serve those in need. You are the nurturer in times of war and peace. The spirit of revolution sets it seal upon you.

LEO Relationships seem to anchor your very life force. You can live and work and be alone. However, at this time close interactions, intimacy and harmony with another is more important. You seek, in ways great and small, ways toward balance and peace. There is great responsibility and many tasks around these will be asked of you in the coming times. It is important to cooperate with others, creating new ways of living, community ways. Relationships need to call upon a state of grace so love can be fully expressed.

VIRGO You want to be practical and helpful (not always but mostly). You want to learn how to best serve those close to you, especially a partner. You don’t want to be overly loving, just thoughtful, present, mindful and available. When discovering harmony and order you realize that opportunities such as these are often fleeting. Know that you can design all relationships that are filled with everything everyone needs. This is the workings of one who is directed by the Soul. You are the Soul.

LIBRA This is a time where you radiate a caring magnetic attractiveness. The outcome of this could be new friends, new ideas, new groups or a vivifying of a present relationship. It could be that everyone listens to your ideas with great attentiveness and wants to imitate you. When you are more loving you are then, in turn, more loved and appreciated. An expansive creative selfexpression is about to come forth. You know what is right, what is good, what is fair and what is just. You radiate success and good cheer.

SCORPIO You may feel as if you simply cannot leave hearth, home, family, garden, or pets, even a goldfish (Pisces influence). You ponder upon the past, feel nostalgic, a bit sad at times, remembering past

loves, opportunities not taken, places unvisited. This gives you the impetus to change your environment a bit. Perhaps you are called home. This shift and change reflects a new aesthetic of peacemaking and stability. You sense what is most important and what is not. You sing and the hills answer.

SAGITTARIUS It seems you want more or new or different friends. You want to have companionship and you want to be a companion to someone in love in return. You want to know everyone in the neighborhood. You want them to speak with you and you with them. You want to know the names of winter plants, flowers and birds. You need communication, no conflict, diplomacy, cheerfulness and wit. Begin your communication with the devas. The rest follows.

CAPRICORN During this time there is a feeling of contentment, a sense that everything’s in place, everything is as it should be. Every now and then there is restlessness, small thoughts that ask what makes you happy, what is happiness? Amidst the simple pleasures you’ve created, you want a sharing to occur, with friends, intimates, and most of all family. Love is stable. There is comfort. There is something in your life that cannot be said in words - a waterfall, a thrush, a running brook. A forgiveness.

AQUARIUS Do you deny yourself things? Do you step back from what you desire, aspire toward, love? If so, let this drop away for several weeks, attempt to place yourself at the center and reach out to what is comforting, restful, kind, caring, warm and merciful. Allow yourself to loosen up a bit, letting some of your protective shields to drop away. You will be safe. Dress up a bit, making yourself more attractive than usual. Think of yourself as a listener and one who has developed cooperation. A new thought for one who comes from the future.

PISCES Parts of you have migrated into a private deeply internal place, creating a sort of hibernation, taking cover like a bear entering a cave for the winter. Other parts of you are out and about attempting to be merry. Simply know and allow both actions to be. Don’t think something’s wrong. You’re learning how to share and accept, be aware of and work with many levels and realities at once. At times there’s a sense of longing, a wistfulness. Things end. You sigh. WITH LADY BEVERLY COHN

“Lingui: The Sacred Bonds”

L-R: 15-year-old Maria played by Rihane Khalil Alio with her mother characterized by Alio Achouackh Abakar Souleyman in Mahamat-Saleh Haroun’s LINGUI: THE SACRED BONDS. As I watched MahamatSaleh Haroun’s fascinating film, which takes place in Chad, a poor, landlocked country in North-Central Africa, I was immediately struck by the universal elements of the human condition, which encompasses the unique features of wellbeing human. It has been described as versatile and not dependent on gender or class. The writer/director takes us to a small, poverty-stricken city on the outskirts of N’djamena, where we meet Amina, gloriously played by Achouackh Abakar Souleyman. She is a single mom with a 15-yearold sullen daughter Maria, powerfully played by Rihane Khalil Alio. Born out of wedlock, Amina’s family abandoned her years before, and the local Muslim people shunned her. She supports her daughter by buying old tires and stripping out the metal to make baskets which she carries on her head to sell in town. Mom is a devout Muslim and attends prayer outside the Mosque, where she kneels on her prayer mat. If she misses a call to prayer, the local Imam pays a visit to remind her of her religious duties. Amina’s daughter grows more petulant, cringing any time her mother tries to touch her. In short order, mom is called to the school and finds out that her daughter is pregnant and is summarily expelled from the Islamic Girls’ School, as was she when her pregnancy was revealed. Amina tries to find out who the father is, but her daughter will not reveal his name and says that she wants an abortion, a procedure against Islamic law and State law. Her daughter insists, “This is my body,” but Mom has difficulty in wrapping her head around her child having an abortion. Gossip spreads among Maria’s friends,

6

DesertSTAR

one of whom confronts her at a party, telling her that people are talking about her. She insists that she is not pregnant and angrily leaves the party. Worried that her daughter has not come home from the party, Amina goes to her old friend, nicely played by Saleh Sambo, telling him that Maria is missing and could help her. Eventually, he is not the friend Amina thought he was. In the meantime, Maria goes to a lake and tries to drown herself. A few young men, who were also at the lake, rescued her and drove her back home. Eventually, despite both the legal and physical danger, mom agrees to help her get an abortion and begins to research options. She interviews Dr. Adoum (Hamid Khayar), who quotes a considerable fee and admonishes her not to say anything to anyone as they could all wind up in jail. Amina frantically makes more metal baskets but cannot raise enough money to cover the cost. In desperation, she goes to her old friend Brahim, who has been asking her to marry him for a year and offers her body for the price of the abortion. He is appalled, and in search of a different option, she turns to a local woman who performs illegal abortions, as well as fake female genital circumcisions. This horrific procedure is still practiced in this region. In another plot twist, Amina’s estranged sister Fanta (Briya Gomdique), shows up out of the blue to ask for her sister’s help. She is clearly affluent and explains that her husband wants their daughter circumcised, which she totally opposes. Amina tells her about a woman who could help her and shares her desperation to raise the rest of the money she needs for the

procedure. Fanta gives her all the jewelry she is wearing to sell for cash. In this moment of mutual crisis, they help each other achieve their goals.

The director assembled a splendid technical team beginning with cinematographer Mathieu Giombini who captures both the squalor of Amina’s living quarters, which is strewn with old tires, as well as the innate beauty of daily activities such as dozens of people walking across a bridge alongside cars, bicycles, and buses. His camera takes us into the most intimate moments between mother and daughter, where you can almost hear them breathing. His nighttime shots of headlights and distant lighting are exquisite. Underscoring the action is Wasis Diop’s music with Marie-Hélène Dozo’s editing melding all the elements. LINGUI: THE SACRED BONDS is an intimate film with a big message that illuminates the universal sacrifice a mother will endure helping her child, even when it is against the law and her religious beliefs. It quietly illustrates the human condition as a universal truism – despite religion, economic, or social status. Director

Mahamat-Saleh Haroun was born in, and as Woody Allen’s homage to his Manhattan, Haroun’s homage to his birthplace and tribal practices therein. It shines a light on a traditional Muslim woman, who is clearly her own person. Although she is religious, she will do whatever it takes to help her child, a situation mothers in our own country will undoubtedly face given the draconian anti-abortion laws currently being enacted. LINGUI, THE SACRED BONDS Distributor: MUBI Countries of Origin: Chad, Belgium, & Germany Release Date: Current Where: Laemmle Royal, Los Angeles Streaming March 8, 2022, on MUBI Language: French with English Subtitles Genre: Family Drama Running Time: 87 Minutes Unrated

Judges Daniel Foster and Mellissa Russo said they had a hard job finding just 6 winners out of all the great works of art. They chose 6 high calibers, heavily talented art in a crosssection of mediums. Considering the talent and someone who takes chances with something to say. talent, ideas, passions to show the world what they feel and see and what they want to convey thru art. The 500 plus members and volunteers bring so much joy to our Valley. The 6 Awards were given to Raymon Casper, Tony Radcliffe, Martha Cowan, Chris Cozen and Andree Carter. Marcia Geiger was unable to attend. Local well-known artists Karen and Tony Barone gave out an award for the best sculpture. There were only 6 in the show, but they said it was hard to choose one. This exhibition was something to see; they said just look around and see the color, feel the passion, and enjoy the messages each painting, or art gives out or draws you in. Look for future events from the center, including a young artists exhibition set for April and concerts.

If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same Lender may hold more than one mortgage or Deed of Trust on the property. Notice to Property Owner The sale date shown on this Notice of Sale may be postponed one or more times by the Mortgagee, Beneficiary, Trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about Trustee Sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. This amount, like the bid deposits, must be delivered in the form of a certified or cashier’s check. If the Secretary is the highest bidder, he need not pay the bid amount in cash. The successful bidder will pay all conveying fees, all real estate and other taxes that are due on or after the delivery date of the remainder of the payment and all other costs associated with the transfer of title. At the conclusion of the sale, the deposits of the unsuccessful bidders will be returned to them. The Secretary may grant an extension of time within which to deliver the remainder of the payment. All extensions will be for 15-day increments for a fee of $500.00, paid in advance. The extension fee shall be in the form of a certified or cashier’s check made payable to the Secretary of HUD. If the high bidder closes the sale prior to the expiration of any extension period, the unused portion of the extension fee shall be applied toward the amount due. If the high bidder is unable to close the sale within the required period, or within any extensions of time granted by the Secretary, the high bidder may be required to forfeit the cash deposit or, at the election of the foreclosure commissioner after consultation with the HUD representative, will be liable to HUD for any costs incurred as a result of such failure. The Commissioner may, at the direction of the HUD representative, offer the property to the second highest bidder for an amount equal to the highest price offered by that bidder. There is no right of redemption, or right of possession based upon a right of redemption, in the mortgagor or others subsequent to a foreclo-sure completed pursuant to the Act. Therefore, the Foreclosure Commissioner will issue a Deed to the purchaser(s) upon receipt of the entire purchase price in accordance with the terms of the sale as provided herein. HUD does not guarantee that the property will be vacant. The scheduled foreclosure sale shall be cancelled or adjourned if it is established, by documented written application of the mortgagor to the Foreclosure Commissioner not less than 3 days before the date of sale, or otherwise, that the default or defaults upon which the foreclosure is based did not exist at the time of service of this notice of default and foreclosure sale, or all amounts due under the mortgage agreement are tendered to the Foreclosure Commissioner, in the form of a certified or cashier’s check payable to the Secretary of HUD, before public auction of the property is completed. The amount that must be paid if the mortgage is to be reinstated prior to the scheduled sale is $442,378.91 as of January

“The Super Bowl Baby”

Cooper Kupp won the MVP Award By Desert Star Staff The wife of Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Van Jefferson had to leave her husband’s Super Bowl LVI to win on a stretcher as she went into labor and gave birth to their second child. The Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 at their SoFi Stadium in LA on Sunday. But during the fourth quarter, as the Rams trailed 2016, Samaria Jefferson’s waters reportedly broke, meaning she had to be rushed to the hospital to deliver the baby boy.

Van Jefferson with his family. Jefferson, therefore, skipped the postgame celebrations with his teammates and rushed off to meet his second child. Now a world champion, Jefferson later shared a photo of himself and his newborn son via an Instagram story and spoke of a “great day.” It was a great day, bro,” Jefferson beamed. “I got three prizes today – my wife, my son, and the Super Bowl.” A Super Bowl ring and a new baby for Van Jefferson. February 13, 2022 - what a

day for the Rams receiver! Jefferson caught four out of eight passes and gained 23 yards in the Rams’ victory, where his tight end teammate Cooper Kupp scooped the MVP award. Pre-match, Samaria vowed that “just like any other game,” she was going to “stay calm” and “pray to God my water doesn’t break” while in attendance at the SoFi Stadium. “I am 100% going to be there. I would not miss this moment for anything,” Samaria added to the sports press. “I

will be 40 weeks pregnant at the Super Bowl, supporting my husband 100%.” The sports media also revealed how the Rams were under strict instructions from Samaria not to inform Jefferson if she went into labor mid-game. “I’ll see you at the hospital afterward,’” Samaria said she told her husband. “Hey, you go play. We’ll see you after.” The incident seems to have unfolded in this exact manner, with NFL Network reporter Bridget Condon sharing on

Twitter: “I’m pretty sure I just saw Van Jefferson’s wife leaving the stadium on a stretcher about to have their baby. “Talk about dedication,” Condon added. Jefferson’s son joins fiveyear-old daughter Bella to complete their family. And as the newborn is still yet to be named, Condon suggested he should be called Aaron in honor of the Rams’ defender Aaron Donald who delivered a string of essential tackles on the Bengals’ star quarterback, and Joe Burrow clock ran down.
