By Desert Star Staff LOS ANGELES, - On August 24, The Marley Family, Island Records, and UMe will collectively proclaim the sun is shining in celebration of 40 years of Kaya, Bob Marley & The Wailers’ historic March 1978 release. This most special anniversary edition will feature Stephen “Ragga” Marley’s exciting and vibrant new “Kaya 40” mixes of all ten tracks from the original album alongside its original mixes in 2CD and 180-gram 2LP configurations. Recorded in London concurrently with the material that ultimately comprised 1977’s Exodus — a record proclaimed by Time Magazine in 1999 to be the Best Album of the 20th Century — Kaya is the perfect sonic-sibling bookend that shares all the joy, spirit, and literal DNA of some of Marley’s most groundbreaking material. Kaya contains a number of the most enduring, heartfelt songs in the entire Marley canon, including “Is This Love,” “Easy Skanking,” and “Sun Is Shining.” Kaya was initially released just one month ahead of Bob Marley & The Wailers headlining the legendary One Love Peace Concert at The National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica on April 22, 1978, an event that featured

16 of reggae’s biggest acts. One Love Peace was heralded as Marley’s triumphant return to his native soil, following his long exile in London after having fled the country as a result of a December 1976 assassination attempt at his Kingston homestead. The album was recorded with the then-new configuration of The Wailers that comprised brothers Carlton and Aston “Family Man” Barrett on drums and bass, Tyrone Downie on keyboards, Alvin “Seeco” Patterson on percussion, and the I Threes — Rita Marley, Marcia Griffiths, and Judy Mowatt — on backing vocals, along with newest member Julian (Junior)

Indio man arrested for allegedly having more than 1,200 fireworks KMIR News Staff An Indio man who was arrested for allegedly having more than 1,200 fireworks in his possession at a Cathedral City gas station, as well as at his home, was released from custody Monday with a citation, according to county jail records. Osbaldo HernandezDelgado, 35, was allegedly found with illegal fireworks in his car at 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Police said a special Cathedral City police detail targeting the use of illegal fireworks in the city searched Hernandez-Delgado’s car at a gas station in the 27900 block of Date Palm Drive and found “a large quantity of illegal

fireworks inside the vehicle.” More fireworks were found at his Indio home, with investigators seizing more than 1,200 pieces of illegal fireworks total, “which included mortars, roman candles, missiles, bottle rockets and firecrackers, weighing more than 400 pounds,” according to police. While “safe and sane” fireworks, which include sparklers, snaps, smoke balls, fountains, snakes and wheels, are allowed in Cathedral City, non- “safe and sane” fireworks are prohibited, and violators could be subject to arrest and/or a $1,000 fine. Communities Receive More “Green” to Go Green

Flood prevention is one benefit of green infrastructure projects that are being funded in five Chesapeake Bay states with nearly $700,000 of grant money. (Pixabay) By Desert Star Staff ANNAPOLIS, Md. Communities are finding it easier to go green when there’s some “green” to help them make the transition - in the

form of nearly $700,000 in grants announced this week. Towns and cities across five states and the District of Columbia use the money for infrastructure projects

By Desert Star Staff HARTFORD, Conn. - When the temperatures are high, cooling centers can be real lifelines. Hot summer days can be dangerous for senior citizens and people with heart or respiratory diseases, diabetes or dementia. Some medications can accelerate dehydration in hot weather. When temperatures rise, said Nora Duncan, AARP Connecticut state director, neighbors, family members and caregivers should be alert to signs that a loved one is experiencing problems. “The signs for people to look out for are weakness and any kind of confusion, making sure that vulnerable seniors are staying hydrated and there’s plenty of water to go around,” she said.

Many public libraries stay open to help people escape the heat, and a complete list of local cooling centers is available by calling 211. Duncan said seniors sometimes may not experience excessive heat, or respond to attempts to keep cool in the same way that a younger person would. “Bad circulation, for instance, will make people feel like they’re cold in the air conditioning,” she said, “but that may not be reflective of what’s actually happening in their body.” Duncan said the consequences can be severe. “Almost 400 people a year die from heat stroke and in heat waves,” she said, “and many of these are elderly people who don’t often realize that they’re

to reduce stormwater runoff, add green space to urban areas and improve the health of waterways and Chesapeake Bay. The town of Bath, W.Va.,

is a three-time recipient of the “Green Streets, Green Jobs, Green Towns” or “G3” grant program. Mayor Scott Merki said the town has used the funds to remove impervious surfaces. “I mean, after this last flood, I am a big believer in the green infrastructure now,” he said, “and putting this stuff in to get this water away from our businesses, get this water away from our streets - get it into the drains, where they need to go.” The town of Bath will receive $42,000 to continue expanding its urban tree canopy. The National Wildlife Federation will get about $66,000 to make a vacant lot into green space in the Druid Heights neighborhood in Central-West Baltimore. The G-3 grants are a partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Trust, the federal Environmental Protection Agency,

Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the City of Baltimore’s Office of Sustainability. Jana Davis, executive director of the Chesapeake Bay Trust, said they’ve funded 21 green infrastructure projects in this grant cycle. “These projects are going to do amazing work for our communities,” she said. “These projects beautify communities, and they also reduce flooding. and they have an environmental benefit. So, it’s really a win-win-win.” Blue Water Baltimore got about $59,000 to plant hundreds of trees on local streets. ShoreRivers in Cambridge will receive around $52,000 for a pilot program to transform vacant lots into green spaces. G3 information is online at cbtrust.org.

Lawmaker links quake with plans for Western Wall mixed-gender prayer area By Desert Star Staff An ultra-Orthodox MP has said the less-strict adherents of Judaism are “not Jews” and claimed a recent earthquake in Israel was a divine warning not to establish a mixed-gender prayer area at the Western Wall. During a heated debate at the Knesset on Wednesday, Yinon Azoulay, from the ultra-Orthodox party Shas, alluded to higher powers to support his position: “Today we heard there was some sort of earthquake. Perhaps we should consider that this earthquake was because someone is trying to get at what is holy to us.” He was referring to a series of minor tremors in the

Haifa area on Wednesday, the Times of Israel reported. The issue on the line is a thorny one, as often happens with religious views. Ultra-Orthodox Jews have strict views on who should be allowed to pray at the Western Wall, the holiest site of Judaism. Views which exclude women. The position is objected to by many others in Israel, for example, members of the Women of the Wall organization, who insist they should be allowed to worship God just like the men do. In early 2016, a compromise solution was reached in the Israeli government, which said a permanent mixed-gender area would be erected near the wall to replace an existing temporary one. It was embraced by the liberal part of the Israeli society but met with condemnation from the most conservative. Pressured by ultraOrthodox supporters of his allies in the government coalition, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu froze the implementation of the decision last summer but stopped short of cancelling it.

During the discussion in the Knesset, Azoulay, who is son of Israel’s incumbent Minister for Religious Services, David Azulay, lashed out against the supporters of the mixed-gender prayer area at the Western Wall, which is also called the Kotel. “They aren’t Jews,” the MP said about the Reform and Conservative Jews campaigning for implementing the compromise. “What do you care about antiquities and the stones of the Kotel? Take the money you are

investing in the country and build yourselves a Western Wall in the US.” Earlier on Tuesday the Israeli parliament voted to appoint Netanyahu the new head of a commission on the mixed-gender prayer area. He replaced Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev, who stepped down last week saying her conscience did not allow her to head the committee. “In the past months I have been torn,” she wrote on Facebook. “My conscience

would not let me rest. I could not approve the Western Wall plan in a manner that would upset the status quo. The Reform Movement’s demand to turn the Wall into a place where men and women pray together is unacceptable to me or to Jewish tradition.” The minster, who is a member of Netanyahu’s Likud party, earlier supported the compromise, voting for it in 2016 and previously giving statements in its favor. Critics accused Regev of caving in to ultra-Orthodox pressure

More Research Needed on Gaming Disorder

By Desert Star Staff SEATTLE - A psychiatrist in the Evergreen State says it’s important that the World Health Organization is recognizing online gaming addiction as a disorder, but more research is needed to fully understand and treat it. The American Psychiatric Association has yet to recognize gaming disorder, noting that more study of the condition is necessary. Dr. Andrew Saxon, a professor at the University of Washington who chairs the Council on Addiction Psychiatry, said the WHO’s definition of gaming disorder is associated with

other conditions - such as depression, anxiety and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. “So that raises the question of whether people who have depression or anxiety, or some other psychiatric disorder, might be more prone to develop the constellation of signs and symptoms that we’re calling gaming disorder,” he said. Saxon said people with serious video-game addictions usually are socially isolated as well, but he called it a “chicken or egg” situation. Is time spent on these games keeping a person from interacting with other people? Or does gaming

disorder take over someone’s life, leading to isolation? Saxon said it’s likely the World Health Organization is recognizing the disorder because of its high prevalence in Asia, compared with the United States. Saxon said there have been no rigorous studies of what works to treat gaming addiction, so medical professionals should exercise caution when diagnosing it. “It’s tough to make a diagnosis as a health-care provider,” he said, “and then say, ‘Oh, well, I don’t really know what to offer you for sure, to treat this condition.’ “ Saxon said it’s a much trickier addiction than others.

For instance, people with alcohol or gambling addict, ions can avoid them more easily and still function in society than people who play games online. “What we struggle with is,” he said, “it’s hard to tell people, ‘Well, you absolutely can’t go online or do anything which is going to be a trigger for the gaming - even if, for example, they’re just going to look up some information for a school research project.” He noted that the World Health Organization’s announcement will stimulate more research on this topic, which is a good thing for the field.

Marvin on guitar. Two of Kaya’s songs had previously appeared in different arrangements on 1971’s Soul Revolution — the title track, and “Sun Is Shining.” Stephen’s goal in mixing Kaya 40 was to create a balance that drew heavily from the original versions. Using Bob’s vocals from demos from original Kaya sessions that were recorded at different tempos, Stephen synched the vocals with alternate takes and layered it over different instrumental

arrangements. Stephen tried to keep the flavor as authentic as possible. To mix the album, he used a similar minimal approach, basing his version heavily off the classic analog concepts they used in the 1970s. Bob Marley’s artistic legacy forever endures, and the 40th anniversary edition of Kaya only serves to reinforce just how much we all share the shelter of this special music. “Our Very Own Carlin McCullough” – The Training of a Tennis Protégé Amanda Peet once said, “As an actor, my main focus is finding good writing and attacking a good role,” and her acting credits reflect that philosophy. A familiar face on episodic television programs such as The Good Wife, How I Met Your Mother, and Brockmire, Peet has also racked up an impressive list of screen credits in such films as Syriana, The X Files: I Want to Believe, The Whole Nine Yards, and Something’s Gotta Give. Twice named as one of the sexiest women in the world, Peet is far from just another pretty Hollywood face as she has emerged as a gifted playwright. The proof of the pudding is in her second theatrical work, Our Very Own Carlin McCullough, a fascinating play currently on stage at the Geffen Playhouse. The story predominantly centers around three characters – Carlin as the 10-year-old tennis protégé, excellently played by Abigail Dylan Harrison, her ambitious mother, Cyn, played by Mamie Gummer, and Jay the tennis coach, played by the most delightful Joe Tippett, whose pure characterization could stand as an acting lesson on how to develop a character organically with no false layering. While Gummer gives a creditable performance, it would be so much stronger if she eliminated all the quirky character traits including her constant tics and grimaces and stripped down her characterization to its pure essence. The days of the Sandy Dennis style of acting are long gone. The other characters include Carlin at 17, well played by Caroline Heffernan, and Salif, a tennis coach effectively performed by Tyee Tilghman. Carlin easily wins every competitive tennis match and mom quickly becomes aware

that her young daughter is a potential tennis champion and makes a deal with coach Jay to take over her training. As in any well-written play, conflict on how to turn this young girl into a champion erupts, with sexual tension building between the two adults. Carlin and her coach immediately bond and a loving, but disciplined relationship, is formed. But, there is conflict between mom and Jay and she constantly interferes offering counter suggestions, one of which will have negative consequences. It becomes a tug of war to see who has greater control over this young girl. Her coach wants Carlin to enter amateur tennis tournaments explaining that if she took one penny, she would be ineligible for a college tennis scholarship which he said would be a slam dunk. There are lots of laugh lines from her overbearing mother such as “It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, as long as you win.” Jay trains his protégée with deep love and caring and tries to protect her from her mother’s growing ambitions. He fills Carlin’s young brain with unpressured direction to prevent her from burning out before she becomes the champion that he knows she can be. To relax her before a match, “You’re here to compete, not to win.” Cyn and Jay have some awkward moments growing out of their mutual attraction, which Jay holds at bay. Drinking heavily, Cyn playfully comments, “I would love to have a boyfriend but I’m in a committed relationship with alcohol.” The three travel together for different competitions and due to budget restrictions, share a single room with Jay sleeping on a folding bed. One night, Carlin decides she wants to sleep on the folding bed leaving no place for Jay other than to share the

bed with her mother and as he climbs into bed, there’s a black out so we don’t know if they do the deed. During one competition, Cyn meets Salif, a tennis coach who recognizes Carlin’s brilliance. He criticizes her present coach’s training and suggests that her daughter attend a tennis academy, which would be tuition free and where she would be put through vigorous training in preparation for future champion matches. Jay is furious and totally against this move. He argues that if she sends her daughter to the academy, there will be devastating results. However, mom is seduced by the appealing financial benefits and despite Jay’s intense objections, agrees to send her daughter to the academy. It doesn’t take a lot of imagination to figure out what happens in the ensuing years and that Jay was correct in his dire predictions. Although you might figure out the consequences, Peet’s writing is so compelling that you become riveted to what unfolds on that stage, where the action takes place in three different settings excellently

designed by Tim Mackabee: Cyn’s kitchen, a motel room, and outside a tennis court. At the top of Act II, Carlin is now 17, has given up tennis, and is not in good shape. She has a foot injury and is burned out from the rigorous training she underwent at the academy. Just as Jay predicted, her playing became disastrous because she didn’t play the game the way he trained her and at this point her old coach is back in the picture. Carlin then receives an offer to attend college on a full scholarship and both her mother and Jay encourage her to sign the contract, which she eventually declines, opting to train with her coach to go pro. There is a tender moment when Carlin tries to seduce Jay, which results in an unexpected outcome. I’ve sat through many plays with a weak Act II, but thanks to Peet’s extremely well crafted script, and the sharp, sensitive direction of Tyne Rafaeli, the action moves smoothly. Even if you don’t understand technical tennis terms, Our Very Own Carlin

McCullough is a fascinating, unique story that will hold your attention to the very last piece of dialogue. One hopes that Peet is already at the computer working on her next play, which I eagerly look forward to seeing.

Heroic hosts snatch improbable shootout victory to stun Spain By Desert Star Staff Russia pulled off a spectacular and improbable victory to stun Spain after extra time and penalties at Luzhniki Stadium to keep their home World Cup hopes alive and send one of the pretournament favorites packing. In the end, it was a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout that decided the game, after a Sergei Ignashevich own goal and Artem Dzyuba penalty in normal time meant the two sides could not be separated after 120 minutes of football. With the result, Russia booked a quarter-final date in Sochi on July 7 against either Croatia or Denmark in the day’s other last 16 tie. Much of the talk before the game was about the importance of Russia’s ‘12th man’ in their raucous Luzhniki Stadium supporters. The

who brought it forward and laid it off for Golovin to curl a shot on his weaker right foot just past the far post of David De Gea’s goal. Russia did get their breakthrough when one of their attacks forward resulted in a corner. A Dzyuba header hit the arm of Pique, Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers belatedly pointed to the spot without confronting VAR and booked the Spain defender. Dzyuba the stepped up to fire the ball into the right hand side and send De Gea the wrong way to net his third in four World Cup games. The 12th man reacted with seismic cheers; the nation was level again and it was now all to play for in the Russian capital. Golovin battling hard in midfield, Russia still with their tactics of long ball up to Dzyuba.

With a little over five minutes of normal time left, Iniesta made his first meaningful contribution to the game when he brought a save low down to Akinfeev’s right from

sound of the national anthem bellowing from the 78,000 supporters in the stands ensured that man was the first to make itself counted. When the action got underway, Spain showed some of the football they are famous for, although their ‘tiki taka’ passing tactics were receive with boos from the crowd. Spain captain and talisman Sergio Ramos is perhaps the most vilified and sometimes reviled man in football, but every play and attack was built from the Spanish captain in defense. One of those attacks resulted in Yuri Zhirkov bringing down Nacho on the right flank. The resulting free kick found a dueling Ramos and veteran Russian counterpart Sergei Ignashevich. As the two tussled and tumbled to the floor, the ball came off the heel of Ignashevich and curled into the net past a rooted Akinfeev. After the goal Russia did have their moments, from a set piece and balls into the area for Dzyuba to nod down, whose 6ft 4in frame is always going to cause panic for opposition defenders. Golovin went close with 10 minutes of the first half remaining, beginning the attack for Dzyuba to head down. The ball found its way to Zobnin,

Diego Costa laid off to Isco, who went desperately close in an effort that was sure to have the collective heart in the mouths of every Russian fan inside the stadium. Russia’s tactics changed when Fedor Smolov, the forgotten golden boy of Russian football, came on to replace Dzyuba, who stopped and said a few words to Cherchesov, neither of the two men looked too pleased and have a difficult history together. Russia continued to press, and had a half-hearted penalty appeal when Golovin went down under a challenge of Ramos. Kuipers gave nothing as replays showed Ramos simply got himself in-between the onrushing midfielder and the ball. For the Spaniards, the introduction of iconic midfielder Andres Iniesta meant that Spain reverted to their more famously fluid football, formulating attacks with a string of passes, but none could find their way through up until the 80th minute. In the final 10 minutes, Iniesta uncharacteristically miskicked from a corner but Russia managed to get it away, Koke’s dangerous ball into the area moments later was headed away by Mario Fernandes.

20 yards, the ball cannoned out to Aspas, but his effort was turned away with cat-like reflexes by the veteran stopper. A hat-trick of corners in the final couple of minutes all resulted in nothing, the final of those seeing Ramos head over. Fernandes headed the ball clear from yet another Spain ball into the area with the last real attack of the 90 minutes and with that extra time was needed to separate the two sides. The first half of extra time saw the action go much the way of the last 20 minutes of normal time, with Russia hemmed in under wave after wave of Spanish attack. Marco Asensio forced a save from Akinfeev from 20 yards, Ignashevich also showed enough defensive nous to keep a livewire Aspas at bay. Aleksandr Golovin gave away a free-kick, replays showed he won the ball cleanly, but the free-kick only brought a tame goalward header from Gerard Pique that was comfortably caught by Akinfeev, the last action of the first half of extra time. Tired legs traipsed off the pitch but Spain looked spritely as they began the second half, but they could still find no way past the Russia defense. Hearts reached mouths again

when substitute Rodrigo wrong-footed substitute Vladimir Granat and powered into the area with a strong run, his cross-shot was equalled by Akinfeev and Dani Carvajal’s follow-up was blocked, the Russian defense proving water-tight once again. Ignashevich gave away a silly foul halfway up his own half, the resulting inswinging free kick found its way past every player in the area but when Pique went down under a challenge from Ignashevich, the entire Spanish bench flew up and protested. Although it was enough to bring a VAR consultation no penalty was eventually given as there was no clear foul. Russia won a corner, Golovin to take it but when the ball broke clear from a wayward header, Smolov could do nothing. The two sides battles out the remaining minutes of the match at Luzhniki as the rain fell on Russia’s sporting epicenter. A Rodrigo shot saved by Akinfeev restored some hope and as the last attack of the 120

minutes. Penalties ensued. Ramos won the toss and elected to shoot towards the goal behind which Spanish fans had gathered, much to their delight at that end. Iniesta was first to take and score, sending Akinfeev the wrong way. An unsure Smolov alleviated fears by smashing cooly past De Gea. Pique stepped up and rifled in off the post, Ignashevich made a stuttering run-up and showed no nerves as he slotted in to make it 2-2. Then the real drama came as Koke had his shot blocked by Akinfeev, straight at the keeper diving to his right. Golovin shot home to have Russia take the lead 3-2 on penalties, almost firing through De Gea in the goal. Ramos, so often the villain, was the hero from the spot, calmly slotting away to level up again. Cheryshev netted his spot kick to make it four from four straight down the center of the goal. Aspas then missed his spot kick to send a rapturous Russia into the next round and keep the home dream alive.

Nation’s Largest Solar Bee Farm in Ore. Creating Buzz By Desert Star Staff MEDFORD, Ore. - Bees are enjoying their days in the sun on a clean-energy farm in southern Oregon. The Eagle Point solar farm outside Medford is the largest “solar apiary” in the country, incorporating designs that benefit pollinators. It’s home to 48 bee colonies interspersed among solar panels, which are generating enough energy to power more than 2,100 homes annually. Rob Davis, who directs the Center for Pollinators and Energy for the nonprofit Fresh Energy, connected North Carolina-based Pine Gate Renewables with a beekeeper in southern Oregon. Davis said this isn’t just a potted plant in the corner of a 40-acre field. “It does obviously recognize that these are managed landscapes and that the site is first and foremost an energy-generation facility,” he said. “But within that context, there are significant ways to manage the vegetation so

that it’s incrementally and meaningfully beneficial to honeybees and all the native pollinators and wildlife.” Davis said this idea has been growing in Europe in recent years and now pollinator-friendly solar projects are under way in a dozen states. While upfront costs could be a barrier, he said, adding pollinators to solar farms has many upsides, including increased soil health from native plants and lowered maintenance costs. The projects are reducing the number of times a farm needs to be mowed, which also decreases the risk of a mower colliding with a panel or kicking up a rock and damaging it. John Jacob, owner of Old Sol Apiaries, said bees and other pollinators face immense pressures right now, in some cases dying off at catastrophic rates. Part of the problem, he said, is the large number of monoculture farms that give bees only one source of food to choose from. Eagle Point offers

A solar farm near Medford, Ore., also is home to 48 thriving bee colonies. (Pine Gate Renewables) his bees the opportunity for a diverse diet. Jacob said another issue on farms is pesticides. “A lot of the crops we get paid to go to are sprayed, and while it’s a good income for commercial beekeepers, the downside is that it places a significant amount of stress on honeybee colonies,” he said.

“So these are places where we can take our bees to help their overall health and to recover from their pollination duties.” Jacob said healthy hives also help surrounding farms. Bees’ growing scarcity is driving up pollination costs for farmers. The honeybees at Eagle Point are producing

Diane Standaert, executive vice president and director of state policy with the Center for Responsible Lending, called it a “rent-a-bank” scheme that would void any state consumer-protection laws that cap interest rates. “The reality is that their passage would open the floodgates to predatory lending, with annual interest rates of 100-400 percent,” Standaert said; “even in states where they’re currently not allowed.” One of the bills has already passed the House. Supporters claim they would improve access to credit for low-income families and promote innovation in the financial sector. Opponents say ultra-highinterest loans only trap people in a cycle of worsening debt. Standaert said California has weak usury laws that

cap interest rates on loans under $300 but allow them to be rolled over into multiple loans that end up costing the borrower big-time if they are unable to pay off the initial loan. A bill to cap interest rates on car-title loans has passed the California Assembly and awaits a vote in the state Senate. Standaert said Congress could supersede any such effort. “This bill would essentially eviscerate California’s ability to ever take action to rein in the cost of these really high-cost predatory loans,” she said. Recent efforts to strengthen the California usury laws have foundered. Assembly Bill 2500, which would have capped interest rates on some loans at 36 percent, failed in the state Assembly about a month ago.

State AGs Slam Congress’ Attempts to Gut Predatory-Lending Laws

More than 30 states cap payday loan interest rates, but Congress is now considering legislation that would void those laws. (Kelly Griffith/Center for Economic Integrity) By Desert Star Staff SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Attorneys General from 20 states, including California’s Xavier Becerra, have signed a

letter to Congress, slamming two bills that would gut current state laws meant to protect people from predatory lenders. HR 3299 and HR 4439

would clear the way for payday lenders to evade state usury laws and make loans with triple-digit interest rates, by making deals to operate

By Desert Star Staff Donald Trump has unleashed a tsunami of internet snark after tweeting out praise for his selfdeclared writing abilities. The tweet, which included a rather untimely typo, even caught the eye of MerriamWebster Dictionary. The US president, who has revolutionized the Art of the Tweet, took aim at the “Fake News” media and its preoccupation with “pouring over” his tweets in search of grammatical errors or typos

“After having written many best-selling books, and somewhat priding myself on my ability to write, it should be noted that the Fake News constantly likes to pour over my tweets looking for a mistake,” Trump tweeted on Tuesday. “I capitalize certain words only for emphasis, not b/c they should be capitalized!” The tweet mysteriously disappeared shortly after it was posted and was replaced with a nearly identical message – with one glaring

change. But by then, the damage had already been done, with even MerriamWebster weighing in: Others pointed out that Trump’s “best-selling book” – The Art of the Deal – had actually been ghostwritten by journalist Tony Schwartz. The irony was certainly not missed on best-selling author J.K. Rowling, who flooded Twitter with endless haha-ing in response to Trump’s bold boasting.

Late winner sends Belgium into World Cup quarter-finals By Desert Star Staff A Nacer Chadli strike with 20 seconds left in stoppage time set up a quarter-final date for Belgium with Brazil, after the Red Devils overcame a two-goal deficit against a Japanese side who fought tooth and nail in Rostov. Goals for Genki Haraguchi and Takashi Iniu within six minutes of each other in the second half suggested that perhaps the biggest upset of the World Cup yet was on the cards, but Belgium showed their character by fighting back with three goals in the last 25 minutes to claim the win. It was a hugely demoralizing climax to the game for Japan, who only qualified for the round of 16 by virtue of having received fewer yellow cards than Senegal, the team they finished deadlocked with in Group H. The game’s five secondhalf goals came in contrast to a first half in which neither side created any clear-cut chances. Japan started the

brighter of the two sides, with Shinji Kagawa impressive as the creative fulcrum behind Yuya Osako. As the first stanza wore on, however, Belgium appeared to sharpen their attack. Romelu Lukaku had a good chance on 20 minutes, swiveling in the box to let a shot fly past Kawashima’s goalpost. Lukaku had another chance to tie Harry Kane as the tournament’s top scorer but he was denied his fifth goal in Russia, fluffing a chance from five yards after being found by a Dries Mertens cross. Eden Hazard almost found the perfect riposte moments later, his 20-yard shot cannoning back off Kawashima’s post but it was Japan who would hit the net next after a Inui slammed the ball home outside the box following a mix-up between the Belgian central defenders. Kagawa controlled a lofted ball excellently on his chest before laying the ball off to Inui

and with the Belgian defenders flat-footed, he sent his effort to Courtois’ left giving the Chelsea ‘keeper no chance. At 2-0 with around 30 minutes to go it was starting to look as though this might be Japan’s night especially when Lukaku missed a gilt-edged chance on 64th minutes, glancing a header wide when it seemed easier to score. Belgium coach Roberto Martinez reinforced his attack

with substitutes Marouane Fellaini and Nacer Chadli on 64 minutes and they were given a lifeline when Vertonghen, making up for earlier error, lofted a header over Karashima following some last-gasp Japanese defending. The European side were appearing much more dangerous, particularly with the totemic influence of Fellaini as the focal point of the Belgian aerial bombardment, and the

The winning video was judged based on creativity, originality, effectiveness, and clarity of the “Stop Fakes” theme based on at least one of the anti-counterfeit tips. As the grand prize winner, Mr. Pegg received a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Kit, and his video will be distributed to over 1,500 media outlets nationwide as part of the anti-counterfeit consumer awareness campaign. Mr. Pegg, who has a degree in filmmaking stated,

Martinez’s masterstroke of substitutions was concluded when Chadli found the winner late in stoppage time following good work from De Bruyne and Lukaku, sending the Belgium fans in Rostovon-Don into raptures and their nation into a mouthwatering quarter-final date with Neymar and Brazil.
