By Theda Kleinhans Reichman Penguin Bloom is not a penguin; it’s a very clever little magpie adopted by the Bloom family in Australia. And the film “Penguin Bloom” is a true story based on their very charming relationship. The movie gets off to a happy start as the Blooms head off to Thailand for an exciting family vacation. But things take a very dark turn for the worse when Sam Bloom (Naomi Watts) falls from a small hotel balcony and breaks her back. When she is eventually strong enough to travel again, the family returns home. Unfortunately, Sam is no longer able to walk on her
own. She uses a wheelchair, and as a result, Sam has lost all interest in life. Now no matter how hard her husband or children try, they can make no longe cheer Sam up. Things change somewhat when the children find an injured magpie in their backyard. They immediately adopt the little bird, name it Penguin and bring it indoors to live with them. This turns out to be a perfect thing because the magpie bonds with Sam and becomes her friend and constant companion. It waddles next to her wheelchair or hops up and sits in her lap. They soon become

Tim Atwood To Appear On RFD-TV’s The Merlin Gene Show
By Desert Star Staff NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Country music entertainer Tim Atwood will appear on
RFD-TV’s television show The Merlin Gene Show, airing Saturday, March 13 at 5:30 pm ET and Thursday, March 18 at 7:00 are ET. Starting this weekend and during new, upcoming episodes, viewers will see a live performance of the origin’s song, which Atwood included on his current album Who I Am. The Merlin Gene Show is taped at the historic Donoho Hotel in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, at the Ronnie McDowell Entertainment Center. “When Merlin Gene called and asked me to be a part of his show, I didn’t hesitate to say yes,” shares Atwood. “Merlin has created a familyfriendly show that features traditional country and gospel music laced with humor and fun. I had a blast working with the exceptional band on set. I have worked with all of these talented musicians in the past, and truthfully, to entertain with these men and women felt like I was home again.” Never one to sit still for long, Atwood recently
released his fourth studio album, Who I Am, which showcases his versatility as a writer and a performer as he takes his fans on a musical journey that includes his self-penned, country shuffle “Migraine Heartache” as well as Delbert McClinton’s soulful anthem “Sending Me Angels.” Atwood has never been an artist who readily fits into any one box, and he takes pride in this fact. To hear “Migraine Heartache,” visit https:// www.youtube.com/ watch?v=Ttz59bs9fZA “I am honored to perform “Migraine Heartache,” one of my originals, on this week’s episode. I wrote “Migraine Heartache” with my wife, Roxane. We sat down to write a new country shuffle for our traditional friends to scoot their boots around a dance floor. “Migraine Heartache” was the result. Having a migraine headache is bad enough, but you’re hurting when you have a migraine heartache. It’s funny, though. You can set out to write a sad
country song, but when you put it in 4/4 time, it makes you smile,” beams Atwood. During his thirty-eight years on the Grand Ole Opry stage, Tim performed alongside nearly four decades of country music hitmakers, including Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Marty Robbins, Jeannie Seely, Dolly Parton, The Oak Ridge Boys, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood, and Taylor Swift. “You have musicians, and you have singers. Tim Atwood is that and much more. He’s an entertainer,” gushes show host Merlin Gene. “He can rock that piano, sing a country ballad that will make you cry, then sing a tender gospel song that makes you feel God’s love. And the guy is funny too. We were happy to use Tim in some of the comedy skits that we sprinkle throughout the show. I love this guy!” To keep up with everything Tim Atwood, visit his https://timatwood.com
5 Tips to Spring Clean Your Home Inside and Out
S
FAMILY FEATURES
pring cleaning isn’t just about purging dirt and grime. It’s also the perfect opportunity to take inventory of items around your home. As you tackle this season’s cleaning, look for ways to improve your overall living space, from getting rid of things you no longer need to adding items that can work harder for you. Consider these five ways to tackle your home inside and out this spring.
Make organizing easier. As you clean each space, look for easy ways to reduce unsightly messes and improve organization. If your entry way always becomes a jumbled pile of shoes and coats, consider adding a storage bench and hooks to bring some order to the area. If the kids’ toys always accumulate in the living room, add a storage chest or large baskets to store them when not in use. If tools and equipment make the garage unusable, install shelving units to keep everything in place. Eliminate the excess. Spring cleaning is also an opportunity to declutter and make way for something new, either by donating or selling unused things. Whether it’s last season’s fashion and accessories or unused tech and fitness gear, that item you never used – or haven’t used in a while – may be exactly what someone else is looking for. Online platforms can make the process easy and be a way to earn extra cash or help fund other home upgrades. Look for marketplaces that help you maximize your return; eBay, for example, is giving sellers 200 free listings every month, meaning you only pay after your items sell. Reimagine your living space. If one area is becoming too crowded or doesn’t serve your family’s needs, consider items you can repurpose for another part of the home. For example, move an unused chair in your living room into a bedroom to create a reading nook. Keep your focus on function as you make changes that accommodate your lifestyle.

Shop Smarter Considering refurbished products for your shopping list can expand your options and make it easier to purchase topoftheline brands without going over budget. From tech and small kitchen appliances to outdoor power equipment, you can discover a breadth of items often in likenew condition.
Make smart additions. Once you’ve cleared your space, and sold things you no longer need, you can convert that extra cash into reliable home appliances and tech. For example, purchase or upgrade items like vacuums, lawn mowers, power washers, drills and more to help take your spring cleaning to the next level. You can make your money go further by choosing certified refurbished products; some marketplaces like eBay offer inven tory that has been professionally inspected by the manufacturer, or a manufacturerapproved vendor, to look, feel and work like new.
Shop for Multi-Purpose Items: When upgrading your arsenal of gadgets, tools and small appliances, look for items that can serve multiple purposes. For example, many vacuums can transform into steamers or include mop attachments and some pressure cookers can also be used as air fryers. Feel Confident in Your Purchase: Sometimes upgrading means investing in a premium product you can count on to last longer than entrylevel models. With eBay’s Certified Refurbished program, you can find popular, professionally inspected name brands at up to 50% off, all of which are backed by industryleading twoyear warranties for peace of mind.
Commit to revisiting regularly. It’s easy to let clutter and disorganization slide when you get busy with life’s demands. Once your spring cleaning and reorganizing is complete, commit to reassessing your home on a monthly or quarterly basis so you can make small adjustments along the way, rather than face a major project every year.

Qualified Plans will be the Sitting ducks of Government Taxation

The Government can create new laws to change distribution requirements, as they did last year, and control them. IRA tax specialist. numbers, according to Slott, show that the three-legged retirement planning stool is shaky. For clients with a 401(k) plan or IRA, he states, “these plans have not yet been taxed, so they’re sitting ducks for future higher taxes, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen” because of the deficit and debt numbers. Slott maintains, “There is no way taxes are going to decrease, that’s for sure, regardless of who wins the White House. At some point, the debt has to be paid down; it’s out of control, it’s consuming our entire national output, so that puts most people’s retirement savings at risk of the uncertainty of what future higher taxes will do.” What can one do at this point to protect their retirement savings? The best solution would be to convert to a Roth IRA now. Only two vehicles allow money to be withdrawn Tax-Free: Roth IRA and Life Insurance plans. Of course, you must pay tax on the amount you transfer or rollover; however, taxes are lower now, and the benefit of taking the payout in the future, Tax-Free, will benefit you greatly in retirement. Any type of plan can be rolled over to
a Roth, which could also offer some stretch IRA benefits. You may consider using an annuity for your Roth rollover. They are considered a contract along with Life insurance and are between you and the insurance company. The Government cannot change a contract. The indicators telling us what the future will offer are apparent now, as we see the gradual increase in inflation in our everyday shopping and filling your gas tank. Inflation will go much higher along with Taxes and interest rates. As taxable income
increases, the potential tax you have to pay on Social Security benefits can also increase quickly. The combination of Social Security income with other taxable income could result in one being subject to an effective marginal tax rate as high as 49.95% on a portion of their income. Delaying Social Security benefits increases the monthly benefit you are entitled to receive and gives one more time to withdraw from pretax retirement accounts without creating an overlap between the two income sources. None of us thought
one year ago about how everything would change so dramatically or what changes need to take to protect our future. We have saved could deplete so quickly, which is why now is the time to make these crucial decisions. Janice Gough is a Financial Consultant in Palm Springs, located at 471 East Tahquitz. Legislators are Discussing Many Proposed New HOA Laws
By Kelly G. Richardson, Esq. CCAL In typical years the Legislature considers a handful of bills concerning HOAs, but 2021 is an unusually heavy year. There are at least 20 bills pending that reference or directly affect common interest developments. Many are technical, but a handful of bills propose to make significant changes (some good, and some bad) to California associations. This column addresses five bills in which their current form would help HOAs, and next week’s will cover some unhelpful proposals. Senate Bill (“SB”) 392 is sponsored by the California Association of Realtors and authored by Senators Archuleta and Hueso. It would help HOAs by amending Civil Code Section 4040(a) so that starting in 2023 HOAs could use email as the default method of sending documents or notices to members. Members could still opt for postal mail, but most presumably would accept electronic mail, thereby saving association time, resources, and cost. The bill also would require HOAs of over 49 members to have websites
providing general information to members unless two third of the members voted otherwise. Assembly Bill (“AB”) 502 by Assembly Member Davies, would modify Civil Code Section 5100 to allow HOAs of any size to forego sending out ballots if at the end of the nominations period the number of eligible candidates matched the number of open seats. In that situation, the bill would allow the HOA to declare the nominees elected to the open seats, saving the HOA the money and time of an election, which is a foregone conclusion. Presently, for reasons this writer does not understand, the current Civil Code Section 5100(a) allows only HOAs of 6,000+ members to use this very sensible approach to uncontested elections. The current draft bill has some overlap between Civil Code Sections 5100 and 5105, but hopefully that will be cleaned up in the committee process. AB 1101 is authored by Assembly Member Irwin and is sponsored by the Community Associations Institute. The bill would simplify and clear up some important terminology problems regarding the HOA banking and insurance requirements found in Civil Code Sections 5502, 5806, and 5380. The bill would also simplify the board’s oversight March 17, 2021
of expenditures from the current “$10,000 or 5% of the HOA’s deposits total” to simply $10,000 or greater. SB 432’s author is Senator Wieckowski, also the author of 2019’s SB 323, the election reforms in law that took effect in 2020. SB 323 narrowed HOA board candidate eligibility standards to five possible requirements and omitted term limits, a common eligibility factor. This bill would correct that omission by creating a new Civil Code Section 5100(g)(3)(B)(v), allowing HOAs to disqualify candidates who have served the maximum consecutive or total allowed terms. So, HOAs may next year again be allowed to have board term limits. SB 391, authored by Senator Min, would add a new Civil Code 5450(a) allowing HOAs during times of declared emergency to hold meetings
entirely by telephone or video conferences. As an urgency statute, if it passes, it would become law immediately upon the approval of the Governor. Our state legislators have come up with five good legislative ideas for HOAs this year – review these bills, compliment their authors at www.leginfo.legislature.ca.gov, and consider asking your own representatives to support these helpful proposals. HOROSCOPES ARIES
You shift from instinctual knowing to searching for self-identity, from being asleep to becoming awake and aware. It’s important to realize both. At this time, as the new Age unfolds, all identities are changing at an accelerated pace. We are to recognize and reflect upon our world transforming. For what was, isn’t anymore. Do not become stranded in the old world. Usually this doesn’t apply to Aries, always the one initiating new thought and ideas. Intend to carefully and responsibly apply Goodwill to all new challenges.
TAURUS You might be feeling quite tender these days, both vulnerable and nostalgic. Your body also may be exhausted, unable to sleep or sleeping too much. Perhaps parts of your body are inflamed; your digestion may be off, your eyes tired, your stamina lessened. Be very careful with diet (look into the GAPS diet). Learn your dosha (Ayurevedic constitution) and blood type and eat accordingly. Research alternative health care. You are valuable, we need you. So be sure to remain in a state of good health.
GEMINI So often, I ask what your dreams and visions are. I ask because dreams and visions can direct and propel us into a new future twinkling in the distance. Visions are based on hopes, wishes, desires and aspirations. Bring them all to light and create a visualization journal. When we envision things, we create

a magnetic field around that vision and it “calls” (magnetizes) things to us. Some of us have despaired of visions ever coming true. Where do you stand on this? Because at this time in the world our visions lead our entire world into the future, the new era and civilization.
CANCER The heavenly signs and planets form an umbrella at the top of everyone’s chart. This umbrella of stars and planets does not act like a shade or veil. They cast us in a bright twinkling starry light – and for you the lights of accomplishment, appropriate responsibility and a vibrant sense of achievement. Your presence for others is also a “light”; a light for the world. Your light can help others feel successful, assisting them in moving forward. It is important to identify with your own light. We know you’re shy at times. However we notice your gifts shining forth.
LEO Your sense of justice stands alongside your sense of adventure. You need an adventure, a journey into the rest of the world, meeting with people of different cultures, interacting with other kingdoms. You sense the need for change. And so you shift from self to the world and back again until the two fuse and synthesize and you simply become the adventure itself, creating a harmonious and kind world. Leo’s are leaders leading with heart. Leo’s hearts shine like the “light of the world”.
VIRGO I wonder how you’re doing with Uranus in Taurus (change all around) and Neptune in Pisces (confusion or refinement). I wonder what you are thinking as we shift into the new era and if you’re feeling the new rhythms and vibrations. Do you feel estranged as if you live in a desert somewhere? Have you attempted healing any unskillful thoughts and actions towards others? This leads back to a healing of the self. Are you’re preparing and purifying during Lent, cultivating the virtuous life? What is the virtuous life for you?
LIBRA Relationship is your entire focus at this time and it continues well through spring to summer. You want to be worthy of esteem (of self and others) through acts of kindness, compassion and having a generous spirit that produces compassion. During these times of change, you focus on maintaining a constant foundation, based on love and respect. These produce stability in all relationships. Each day you become more and more sensitive. Think of others who are also sensitive. Especially to you. Is there a need to forgive?
SCORPIO So much energy is in reserve now, held behind the scenes. Mars, your planet, will be bursting forth like a rocket, its trajectory (your passions) as yet unknown. Each day during spring, carefully accomplish planned daily tasks. What
these tasks are depend upon whether you are a seeker, aspirant, pledged disciple, accepted disciple or Initiate. Which are you? Which do you aspire to be? What tasks are to be accomplished each day? What are your future plans working under the Law of Attraction?
SAGITTARIUS In time, things around and within you become brighter, more accessible, less hidden. You wonder always what right step to take as the past begins to dissolve away. Soon you can take steps into the bold unknown, both in the world and within the self. Life throws itself completely into the season of spring. Allow yourself to do this too. Take seriously the Lenten preparations. They take you home again, in reality or metaphorically. Is there communication needed with family and something else? What is it?
CAPRICORN For those recognizing the new Aquarian Age has arrived, we recognize a new world order is emerging too. It has new life, vitality, hue, sound, color, shape, beauty and it holds our future. You know to step lightly in this new world. You are in preparation to be a leader in this new world. The stars and planets are creating a new stable foundation for you. Like a carpet of light for you to step upon. Ponder quietly on these words. Revelations eventually appear. They will be reflected in your art.
creating a stellium (many, a gathering) of light within your physical brain and mind. You might begin to think at the “speed of light”. Do you know that there’s something faster than the speed of light? Thoughts are faster than the speed of light. It would be good to take notes during this time when you mind will feel like it’s in a meteor shower. Within each spark of light is an idea to be anchored. This is a serious time of revelation for you and your Aquarian tasks ahead. The light within you twinkles the future.
PISCES For years Pisces can follow the guidelines of others while simultaneously learning how to follow one’s inner guidance. It’s important for you to identify at this time the value of your own visions, aspirations, knowledge and abilities. Pisces brings others into new states of knowingness which leads to new states of identity. Often Pisces speaks of things others never thought about. Awareness then results. You will be offered much in the coming months. Assess everything with care, invoke right timing, direction and discipline, Then Right Knowing follows. Journalists asked to sign confidentiality agreement over report into child abuse
By Desert Star Staff Journalists in the German city of Cologne have walked out of a press conference after Catholic Church officials asked them to sign a confidentiality agreement pledging their silence over an unpublished report into child abuse. The Archdiocese of Cologne organized the event to discuss the methodology of the report, which Archbishop Rainer Maria Woelki said was the reason it had still not been released to the public, according to Deutsche Welle. The eight journalists invited to the briefing were shown a redacted version of the document and asked by church officials to remain silent on information regarding the alleged abusers and their crimes. All attendees reportedly

rejected requests to sign the confidentiality agreement, which read: “The journalist commits himself to exercise absolute silence regarding this information.” Woelki has been accused of a cover-up by not informing the Vatican about a sexual abuse allegation involving a priest dating back to 2014 after Woelki became Archbishop of Cologne. He initially promised a report on abuse allegations in Cologne in 2018. Still, he delayed its release at the end of October, saying it was “not legally valid,” contained prejudices, and had issues regarding its methodology. “Serious mistakes were repeatedly made for decades,” Woelki admitted in November, as he accused two of his predecessors,
Joseph Hoffner and Joachim Meisner, of covering up sexual abuse in Cologne. A local criminal law expert, March 17, 2021
Bjorn Gercke, has reportedly now been asked to compile a new report for release in March. Munich law firm Westpfahl
Spilker Wastl, which had been handling the report, has denied Woelki’s allegations that it was not methodologically sound. www.desertstarweekly.com

Elon Musk now it’s Master of Coin’ – SEC filing By Desert Star Staff According to a somewhat baffling filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, in addition to being electric carmaker Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk is now also the company’s ‘Technoking.’ Tesla’s chief financial officer Zach Kirkhorn also now holds a new position of “Master of Coin,” in an apparent reference to George RR Martin’s ‘Game of Thrones series of books and TV shows. “Elon and Zach will also maintain their respective positions as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer,” the filing concludes.
As expected, many online were baffled by the announcement, with many apparently lost for words and opting instead to express themselves with GIFs. Others had some choice words to express their disdain for Musk’s playful attitude to corporate governance. “It would be pretty great if Elon were to f**k off forever,” wrote one evidently triggered Twitter user. “I’m starting to feel the cringe,” added another. Musk was until recently the world’s richest person until Tesla’s stock price shit the bed in February. Tesla’s stock surged over 600
percent in 2020 but dropped almost 14 percent through January and February 2021. The slump may be in part due to a fire at the company’s Fremont factory as well as the recent revelation that there were over 450 cases of Covid-19 among Tesla factory workers by the end of 2020, a point which eagle-eyed social media users were quick to point out amid reports of his fantastical title change. “In actual news, how are those workers who got covid working at the Tesla plant doing? Did the technoking’s pronouncements about covid being overblown
pan out?” wrote one nonplussed Twitter user. Musk famously locked horns with state authorities in California over coronavirus
restrictions, culminating in his moving to Texas, though Tesla’s main manufacturing plant remains in California for the time being.

Surviving the Stay-at-Home orders thru Art

By Desert Star Staff SURPRISE, AZ - The Texas Rangers paid tribute to late country legend Charley Pride — the baseball player-turnedtrailblazing country singer. He also held a part-ownership stake in the MLB team — by naming a field at their spring training complex after him. The Rangers announced the dedication Sunday on Twitter with the unveiling of the “Charley Pride Field” signage at their Surprise, Arizona spring training site. “Introducing Charley Pride Field! You are greatly missed,” the team tweeted: Introducing Charley Pride Field! Pride died December 12, 2020, from complications related to Covid-19. At the time of his death, Pride was part of the ownership group that purchased the Texas Rangers in 2010; in the decade that followed, Pride frequently visited the team, including annual stops at the spring training facility.
“Mr. Pride’s first love was baseball. He pitched professionally in the Negro and Minor Leagues throughout the 1950s before embarking on his Hall of Fame singing career of more than 60 years,” the Rangers said in a statement following Pride’s death. “Mr. Pride then became a regular participant at Texas Rangers spring training camps in Pompano Beach and Port Charlotte, Florida and Surprise, Arizona, working out with the team and staging an annual clubhouse concert for players and staff, a tradition that continued through this past spring.” Even before assuming part-ownership, Pride was a fixture at the team’s spring training. ‘God cannot bless sin’: the Vatican firmly refuses to bless gay unions By Desert Star Staff The Vatican’s orthodoxy office has ruled out any possibility of same-sex couples receiving an ecclesial blessing, maintaining that the Church does not approve such unions as God “cannot bless sin.” The Congregation released a detailed explanation delving into the Catholic Church’s stance on same-sex unions for the Faith’s Doctrine – the Vatican’s orthodoxy

watchdog – on Monday. The official response comes after repeated proposals to make gay couples eligible for official Catholic Church blessings. However, the orthodoxy body firmly rejected such a possibility, though it acknowledged the presence of “positive elements” in a samesex relationship. However, even these positives cannot “justify these relationships and render them legitimate objects of an
ecclesial blessing,” it stressed. “[God] does not and cannot bless sin: he blesses sinful man, so that he may recognize that he is part of his plan of love and allow himself to be changed by him,” the explanatory reads. While the Congregation reaffirmed that the Church is welcoming towards gay people and can receive a blessing individually, any unions remain off-limits. Such March 17, 2021
sacramental recognition for gay marriage would be very misleading and would too easily confuse those unions with traditional oppositesex marriage – the only one accepted by the Church. “The Church does not have, and cannot have, the power to bless unions of persons of the same sex in a sense intended above,” the Congregation stated. The explanation appears in
line with Pope Francis’s views, who has shown welcome towards the LGBT community and advocated equal rights for its members, including civil union. However, the pontiff clarified that equality lies solely within the civil area, while the Church’s traditional stance remains unchanged. “Homosexual people have the right to be in a family. They are children of God,” the Pope said in an interview last year.

Argentinian Artist Fito Paez Wins “Best Latin Rock Or Alternative Album”
By Desert Star Staff Iconic Argentinian artist Fito Paez wins “Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album” for La Conquista del Espacio at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. The honor marks his first Grammy win and follows two wins at the 21st Annual Latin Grammy Awards last November—“Best Pop/ Rock Album” and “Best Pop/ Rock Song” for the single “La Cancion de las Bestias.” “I’m shocked, very excited indeed! Gustavo Cerati once said that he felt the whole universe was conspiring in his favor. This could well be that kind of moment for me, one of total abundance on what has to do with my complete self. I feel so infinitely grateful to my friends, family, team, and all the people who are there with me every day, supporting me. I also want to share this Grammy Award with my fellow nominees. I feel full of love and send my regards to everyone.”—Fito Paez La Conquista del Espacio continues to receive widespread critical praise—Billboardhails, “It’s a

grandiose title for a beautiful, lush set of songs that goes from the highly orchestrated, optimistically beautiful title track to the bluntly crass ‘Nadie Es de Nadie,’” the Associated Press calls it, “both an apocalyptic and cheerful soundtrack.” At the same time, Grammy. com adds, “Páez is a full-on Latin pop legend, a status he attained by experimenting with pop, synth, and Latin sounds, among others. La Conquista del Espacio is a testament to that…” The video for “Gente en la calle” featuring Lali, the fourth single from the album, premiered. The video was filmed in a Buenos Aires studio where directors Alejandro Ros and Guido Adler ingeniously recreated a street within the film set, using images in big screens where Paez and Lali could interact. The studio-generated images were combined with footage shot on the actual streets of Argentina’s capital city, on subtle portraits that bring to the forefront the rawness of people in the
street’s situation, which the song lyrics reflect. Watch: https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=KrGMRwd9AhM Paez is currently in the midst of his first series of shows with a live audience since the pandemic, “Un hombre con un piano.” The four sold-out solo piano concerts are taking place on the famed Teatro Coliseo stage in Buenos Aires. Additionally, Netflix has announced “El amor después del amor,” a new fictional series based on Paez’s life and produced by Paez himself. The new series will be released later this year. Fito Paez is one of Latin-America’s most beloved musicians. He is the

mastermind behind 1992’s El Amor Después del Amor, the #1 most sold rock album in the history of his native Argentina. Fito has been touring for the past 36 years, performing in some of the most iconic Latin America and Spain stages. Over the past two years, he has performed on legendary U.S. stages, including New York City’s Carnegie Hall, Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre, and Miami’s Fillmore. Paez has received countless prizes and recognitions in Argentina and internationally throughout his career. His 1999 album Abre was nominated for “Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album” at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards, and he
has won a total of eight Latin Grammy Awards. In 2015, Berklee College of Music in Boston awarded Paez with the “Master of Latin Music” honor, marking the first Latin American rock musician to receive the prestigious award. Further career highlights include writing and directing two films: Vidas Privadas and De Quién Es El Portaligas, as well as authoring three books published all across Latin America: La Puta Diabla, Diario de Viaje, and Los días de Kirchner. Paez also composed and acted as music director of the soundtrack for the film Camino Sinuoso, directed by Juan Pablo Kolodziej.

is beautiful throughout, the 11 songs probing the world with an intimate and personal touch. Evoking the feeling of being in the home studio with Duncan amidst the creation of her recordings, the blend of sonic intimacy and personal songcraft is remarkably in tune with our times. “Lonely” shines with elements including vocal layering, piano, and whistling surrounding Duncan’s slightly raspy (but lovely) vocals. The straightforward acoustic jewel “Over The Hill” is sparse, with her voice accompanied by a lone guitar. Still, the power of her reflective message about facing every challenge is a powerful one, to be sure. Just as mighty are her introspective baroque folk originals “Reunion” and “Campfire” that follow. The aptly-titled “Rain Storm” is one of the most interesting disc-ending tracks in memory, a reminder of nature’s unparalleled power and humanity’s own gift to treasure the sounds that lurk all around us. Highlights abound; the dreamy “Moonbeam Reach” draws favorable comparisons with the wistful work of The Church and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Elsewhere the disc’s expansive riches include the driving “Sunsick Moon,” indie rocker “Girl From The Other Side,” dreamy “Crashland,” and power popmining “Neverlasting Love.” Several stellar cuts round out the set, including the swirling “Synching Ships,” experimental rocker “Masters At Work,” and enchanting “WaterwaysPt2.” The wonderful-sounding album was produced by Porter and Fountains of Wayne drummer Brian Young. The opening bid at the foreclosure sale may be more or less than this estimate. In addition to cash, trustee will accept a cashier’s check drawn on a state or national bank, a check drawn on a state or federal credit union or a check drawn on a state or federal savings and loan association, savings association or savings bank specified in Section 5102 of the California Financial Code and authorized to do business in this state. If tender other than cash is accepted, the trustee may withhold issuance of the Trustee’s Deed Upon Sale until funds become available to the payee or endorsee as a matter of right. In its sole discretion, the seller (foreclosing party) reserves the right to withdraw the property from sale after the opening credit bid is announced but before the sale is completed. The opening bid is placed on behalf of the seller. If you have previously received a discharge in bankruptcy, you may have been released from personal liability for this debt in which case this notice is intended to exercise the secured party’s rights against the real property only. NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER AND ALL OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether this sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call 916-939-0772 or visit this Internet Website: www.nationwideposting.com using the file number assigned to this case: T20-07036. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Website. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. NOTICE TO TENANT: You may have a right to purchase this property after the trustee auction pursuant to Section 2924m of the California Civil Code. If you are an “eligible tenant buyer,” you can purchase the property if you match the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. If you are an “eligible bidder,” you may be able to purchase the property if you exceed the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. There are three steps to exercising this right of purchase. First, 48 hours after the date of the trustee sale, you can call (916) 939-0772 or visit this internet website www.nationwideposting.com using the file number assigned to this case T20-07036 to find the date on which the trustee’s sale was held, the amount of the last and highest bid, and the address of the trustee. Second, you must send a written notice of intent to place a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 15 days after the trustee’s sale. Third, you must submit a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 45 days after the trustee’s sale. If you think you may qualify as an “eligible tenant buyer” or “eligible bidder,” you should consider contacting an attorney or appropriate real estate professional immediately for advice regarding this potential right to purchase. ANY INFORMATION OBTAINED WILL BE USED FOR THAT PURPOSE. “NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. First, 48 hours after the date of the trustee sale, you can call (844) 477-7869, or visit this internet website www.STOXPOSTING.com, using the file number assigned to this case 85188 to find the date on which the trustee’s sale was held, the amount of the last and highest bid, and
the address of the trustee.
