Big Grant for kids from Desert Health Care District
The Dr. Carreon Foundation and Local elected offices gathered at the REVEL Independent Living facility to celebrate the 2023 scholarship program. The event also announced a $50,000 grant to the Dr. Carreon Foundation. The considerable donation came from the Desert Health Care District and was presented by Dr. Carmina Zavala.
Local Mayors and Council members were also awarded for their service to the community and the areas they serve. In attendance from Desert Hot Springs were: Mayor Scott Matas, Council Members Jan Pye, and Russell

Council Member \Glenn Miller from Indio and Council Member John Pena from La Quinta. Executive Director Ricardo Loretta of the Dr. Carreon Foundation announced the $50,000 grant and the awards given to our local officials.
The Dr. Carreon Foundations’ mission is to provide educational opportunities for underprivileged youth in the Eastern Inland Empire. The Foundation has awarded nearly 2 million dollars to over 800 students who have attended colleges and universities all over the U.S. The foundation hopes to create leaders in the future.
