Photo by Pat Krause Story and Photos by Pat Krause The annual Palm Springs Greater Gay Pride Parade is growing larger each year. It has turned into a weekend of fun with rows and rows of vendors, nights of entertainment, and party after party. LBGTQ gatherings were huge again this year all around Palm Springs

as that is the base area for the weekend events. The Gay Pride Parade is always held on Sunday, which allows thousands of people from the very young to the very old to line the streets of Palm Canyon Drive. Some of the parade watchers got in the spirit of the day wearing colorful outfits,

beads, feathers, T-shirts, and some even brought their dogs all dressed up. This is the largest Gay Pride Parade to date with 256 contingents of floats, bands, cars, horses, and more. Of course, a Parade is not a Parade unless there is the color-guard to start and

the bands making music. It was noted that there are 78 countries where it is still illegal to be an LGBTQ person, so there was a group that had 78 flags to make a note of those countries. Other floats and walkers carried plaques, balloons, and signs. The more massive floats were

filled with people. What a fun day for this event and the weather even co-operated with mild temperatures. The party started on Sunday with a VIP breakfast where over 150 guests gathered to greet the

By Madeline Zuckerman It was an elegant evening as the Association of Fundraising Professionals CA, Desert Communities Chapter, hosted a private reception at a stunning residence on Stevens Road in Palm Springs, to honor this year’s Nominees for the 13thAnnual National Philanthropy Day® In The Desert. Once again, the dynamic duo of Mark Anton and Scott Histed graciously sponsored and underwrote this not-to-bemissed elegant soiree. Over 100 guests were in attendance, including this year’s National Philanthropy Day® In The Desert Nominees,

V.I.P. guests, NPD Awards Luncheon Sponsors, City Officials, NPD 2019 Honorees, Board Members of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Past Year’s Nominees and Honorees, Nominators, as well as members of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Blue Ribbon, Gold Ribbon, and Awards Committee.
