Managing Complications of Lupus By Desert Star Staff Many people may recognize the term “lupus” and think of it as an autoimmune disease that can cause joint pain and swelling. Still, you may not be aware lupus impacts an estimated 1.5 million Americans and can affect many parts of the body. The disease that causes the immune system to attack its own tissues mainly impacts women, who make up 9 out of 10 lupus patients. Genetics also play a role in lupus; you are at greater risk if you have a family member with lupus or another autoimmune disease. Some racial and ethnic groups are also at elevated risk, including Black, Asian

American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American and Pacific Islander heritage. Additionally, Black, Hispanic/Latino, and Asian American lupus patients are more likely to develop complications, including kidney damage, also known as lupus nephritis. These patients tend to have worse outcomes than white patients. According to the American Kidney Fund, lupus nephritis - kidney swelling and irritation caused by lupus affect up to 60% of patients with lupus. It can cause permanent kidney damage, called chronic kidney disease, affecting your quality of life. People with lupus nephritis also have a higher chance of heart problems, blood vessel problems and developing certain types of cancer. Symptoms of lupus nephritis include weight gain, fatigue, joint pain or swelling, muscle pain, fever, high blood pressure and frequent urination. Because some of the symptoms of lupus nephritis can also look like symptoms of other diseases, lupus patients need to regularly talk to their doctors about testing their kidney function. Testing your kidney function involves a urine test to look for protein and a blood test to check for waste products in your blood. If you are diagnosed with lupus nephritis, you must see a kidney doctor called a

However, it’s also essential to recognize lupus nephritis can impact your mental health too. These tips from the American Kidney Fund can help you navigate your care and cope with lupus nephritis: * Ensure your kidney function is tested regularly, and you are referred to a nephrologist. * Keep records of your symptoms, tests and test results to share them with your doctors in detail. * Consider medication to lower your blood pressure,

if directed by your health care provider, which can help reduce the amount of protein in your urine. * Write down questions you have for your doctor and bring them to your next visit. * Take notes on what your doctor says during your visits. * Find healthy ways to cope, such as meditating, journaling or exercising. * Take a diuretic, or water pill, if directed by your health care provider, to help rid your body of extra fluid, which can raise your blood pressure and cause strain on your heart. * Talk to a professional, such as a mental health therapist, counselor or social

By Desert Star Staff The Super Bowl is expected to bring a swell of economic activity to the Los Angeles area when it comes to SoFi stadium in February. The Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee released an extensive report estimating the game’s overall economic impact to be between $234 million and $477 million. • The report estimated that the game would bring 2,200 to 4,700 new jobs to the L.A. region, primarily

in transportation, hotels and motels, restaurants, and personal care. • A projected 100,000

to 150,000 out-of-towners will come to the area, staying an average of four days. • Short-term lodging

and other “direct” impacts of the game could account for as much as $258.5 million of the total impact. The $5 billion SoFi Stadium, home to the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams, opened in September 2020. SoFi won the naming rights in a 20-year, $400 million deal. SoFi, situated in the Hollywood Park entertainment complex and planned neighborhood, follows a trend of stadiums surrounded by dining and entertainment options in similarly inclusive complexes. The neighboring YouTube Theater concert hall opened in August. The area is also home to the NFL’s West Coast offices. Construction on the Intuit Dome, the future home of the Los Angeles Clippers, began across the street from SoFi Stadium in September.

Rand Paul’s claims US-funded bat virus research led to Covid-19 By Desert Star Staff White House Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci has lashed out at claims made by Senator Rand Paul that USfunded bat virus research in China could have spawned Covid-19, rebuffing the idea as “molecularly impossible.” Speaking on Sunday to ABC News, Fauci blasted accusations made by Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) had funded research in Wuhan, which resulted in the origination of the coronavirus: “He’s incorrect. Neither Dr. Francis Collins, the director of the NIH, nor I lied about what we’ve done.” The senator also called for Fauci to be fired by US President Joe Biden “for lack of judgment” and said it is unlikely he will “admit that he lied” in an interview with Axios on HBO. “He’s gonna continue to dissemble, and try to work

around the truth, and massage the truth,” Paul remarked. The remarks come after the NIH’s principal deputy director, Lawrence Tabak, revealed that nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance experimented on coronaviruses in China with the organization’s funding. Still, he denied this had anything to do with the virus that causes Covid-19. Fauci also reiterated this and said that the viruses being studied “were distant enough molecularly that no matter what you did to them, they could never, ever become SARSCoV-2.” It would be “molecularly impossible,” he insisted. In a letter sent to Republican lawmakers, Tabak said the experiment found mice infected with one bat coronavirus “became sicker than those” given another type. Despite there being a 9697% similarity between SARSCoV-2 and the RaTG13 and BANAL-52 bat coronaviruses,

Tabak insisted “the bat coronaviruses studied under the EcoHealth Alliance grant could not have been the source of … the COVID-19 pandemic.” The World Health October 27, 2021

would continue to support and participate in finding out where the virus came from but said it would “firmly oppose any form of political manipulation.” www.desertstarweekly.com

The De-Finance Revolution

By Janice Gough The usage of Bitcoin (typically decentralized digital money designed to be used over the internet. It is near all-time highs, with 24-hour transaction volumes hovering around levels not seen since late 2017. Just recently, it hit a high of $450,000 transactions in a day. The previous record was Dec. 13, 2017, just days before prices hit $20,000. Today the value has grown to $60,955, for which it was at $31,000 in July.) Huge gains like this in short periods are rarely seen in the stock market. The price of Bitcoin has risen by 13.36% in the past seven days. The price increased by 1.48% in the last 24 hours. The current price is $61,899.23 per BTC. Bitcoin is 4.57%, below the all-time high of $64,863.10. Despite the high transaction volume, fees on the Bitcoin network have been at their lowest levels since August 2017. What are the factors driving prices higher? I will summarize this in 2

simple words: Fear and Greed. The U.S. Dollar is hardly worth the paper it is printed on. Super inflation is on its way. Whereas Bitcoin technology has become more accepted thru the entire world market. It provides a new faith in the growth in our economy and in providing safety in dollar evaluations and market efficiency. If and when it becomes the currency replacing the old “greenback,” the public will gain more faith in their currency. The efficiency of crypto is that it cuts out all the middlemen. The government of the Central Bank has control over it, which is why it is called DeFi currency or De Financed. What protection does it offer? Electronic wallets allow one to spend, sell or trade our coin assets. Wallets are protected from hackers by private Key technology, which comprises 12 words in a set order. Thus, your private keys are a part of cryptography. As they are referred to, private keys are encrypted codes, lock and unlock the assets in your wallet, and record all transactions in Smart contracts. These Smart

contract recordings are permanent. I refer to anything that is “Smart” technology that is run by artificial intelligence. Thus, your private keys are a part of cryptography. These words establish the wallet address from which assets are bought and sold. A database of transactions creates a chain of ownership and is shared by everyone in the network. When the wallet owner unlocks the wallet and transfers the coin to purchase another asset, it is recorded in the Smart contracts, which are locked in a Block of transactions recorded permanently, and become a part of the BlockChain. The past few years, “crypto” was looked at as a currency used for Drug transporters and Illegal circumstances. Of course, these things will always exist in any market, but investors now view it as our last hope to adjust to massive inflation. The difference in electronic money is that the coin’s value can increase significantly based on those investing and purchasing the currency and what role the Crypto

serves. Even coins, like Ethereum, increase value daily by the fees it collects on transactions. Crypto can also go down on news of government intervention and control. It is now one of our great hopes to offset inflation. People are fearful about what bad decisions the Fed has made, which has changed the U.S. economy. For years, our government has made bad decisions and debased the dollar’s value by printing us into a debt, which we will never recover from. We are wholly dependent on the Fed and expectations on inflation and the central bank’s intervention on the equity markets. The Fed is calling for inflation to be transitory due to supply chain disruptions. Still, we are seeing several factors and data showing inflation could be hotter and last longer than the Fed previously expected. Bitcoin has outperformed the broader market, as its market dominance has increased from roughly 42.5% to about 45.5% so far in October. The price action is that

Bitcoin is leading the market higher, given that it’s the most established and dominant cryptocurrency. This coin, being is known as “the Father of Crypto,” is driving value thru the entire coin market of over 12,000 coins. And the market itself is still in its infancy, given the absolute supply cap of 21 million Bitcoins in existence today. Nevertheless, it is a hedge against unsustainable fiscal and monetary policy by governments and central banks, which many investors are fearful of. It’s a fully fixed supply asset, which is essentially unheard of when you consider that you can go dig up more from the ground with gold. You cannot go dig up more Bitcoins. The number of bitcoins is locked in. New Laws Coming in 2022 – Part III: Major Housing Reforms – Dismantling HOAs?

By Kelly G. Richardson, Esq. CCAL In recent years, the Governor and Legislature have made increasing California’s housing supply a high priority. This year saw several major bills signed into law, easing the creation of further housing density. Two bills in particular, Senate Bills (SB) 9 and SB 10, seek to increase infill density by encouraging more residences on properties that presently are used as singlefamily lots. If such bills are attached to HOAs, it could literally destroy the foundation of such communities. SB 9 adds two new sections to the Government Code: Sections 65852.21 and 66411.7. These sections will start in 2022 requiring cities and counties to allow lots of 2,400 square feet (or more in size) to be split into two lots and allow two dwellings on each lot. Such lot splits are to be handled “ministerially,”

meaning without hearings. The new units must be at least 800 square feet in size and one parking space per unit may be required unless the property is within one half mile of a “high quality transit corridor” or a major transit station. A “high quality transit corridor” means an area in which during peak hours a bus stops at least every 15 minutes. SB10 creates a new Government Code Section 65913.5, permitting local governments to adopt zoning ordinances allowing construction of up to 10 residential units on parcels located in “transit-rich areas” or “urban infill sites.” A “transitrich area” is defined by the statute as a parcel that is within a half mile of a major transit stop (bus station, rail station or ferry terminal, or the intersection of two high quality bus corridors), or is a parcel located directly on a highquality bus corridor. If the local government adopts such an ordinance, it must issue a map so that property owners can

clearly know if their property is within this ten-unit zoning area. Could SB 9 and SB 10 result in your next-door neighbor splitting their lot and adding three more residences, or creating a ten-unit apartment or condominium building next door to your home? Under these statutes, the answer is yes. A policy decision has clearly been made in Sacramento that housing supply is more important than preserving the quality of life in residential neighborhoods. Do these changes affect all neighborhoods? What about HOAs, which normally require that properties be used for “single-family residential” purposes? Senator Toni Atkins, the author of SB 9, issued a

public letter on August 30, 2021, stating her belief that the lot split and “two-on-alot” provisions of SB 9 would not override HOA governing documents. That letter is not legally binding but does give some comfort to planned developments with lots of at least 2,400 square feet. SB 10 eases zoning for mini-developments, but unlike SB 9 is not mandatory. Common interest communities (aka “HOAs”) are attractive to homebuyers because of quality standards, architectural conformity, higher maintenance standards and other restrictions preserving a certain quality of life for owners within the community. At the same time, legislation

increasingly limits the ability of communities to make their own decisions about their community (such as last year’s enactment of Civil Code 4741 regarding rentals). Why are we still mired in that Alegoricaly Infamous Washington D.C. Swamp By Jack Lyons Theatre and Film Critic Member American Theatre Critics Association Member Academy of Television Arts and Sciences It’s been almost a year since November 2020 when Mr. Trump lost his presidential reelection bid but still refuses to accept his defeat. And “the big lie’ theory continues to poison the political well-being of our nation. Since then, the country has been in a constant state of fear, division and distrust. Timing and choices that effect everything in our lives, may also be influencing the almost uncontrollable events sent by Mother Nature in the form of a worldwide pandemic; which has been exacerbating our civil turmoil and political unrest for over eighteen months. Now the cult-like Red Hatted Maga party and its enablers are gearing up for the return of Trump in his 2024 presidential bid to dump democracy and replace it with an autocratic regime led by himself as its leader/ autocrat/dictator; in the style of Putin’s Russia and China’s President and Prime Minister Xi Jinping. A title he’s coveted since childhood When the people ask for answers and solutions to issues that are plaguing our democracy we’re denied the full truth. Instead, we’re handed even more obfuscation and finger pointing along with shifting the blame and stonewalling in the hope that we

the people will tire of the issue. And, if that wasn’t enough of red flag warnings to concern our elected officials, the country then had to deal with the ignominious January 6, 2021 insurrection. By storming the Capitol by a band of more than 600 self-proclaimed Trump loyalists and barbarians who breached the gates at his behest; gave life to the political slur from our allies and friends by now referring to the USA as a South American banana-styled republic. The beacon of democracy and hope has not only been dimmed, it’s literally been taken away from us inside our borders by our own countrymen. All this was made crystal clear prior to January 6, 2021 in screenwriter and director Billy May’s powerful and provocative 2017 film “The Comey Rule” that covers the Trump presidency prior to the first of his two impeachment trials. It was a prescient signal to America to be on guard to the possibility of losing our democracy from within by those who covet autocracy over democracy. May’s film highlights the lengths that then president Trump was willing to go in his war with the FBI and its director James Comey. Their relationship was poisoned from moment the director was handed a loyalty oath to sign. If signed, that would clear the way for the president to co-opt the FBI by allowing it to become politicized and weaponized for Trump’s personal war on his perceived enemies in violation of FBI rules and regulations.

The president’s revenge for Comey’s “disloyalty” was to fire the director and then continue his feud with the Agency by symbolically throwing certain FBI civil servant officials out with Jim Comey’s bath water, despite its 112 years of outstanding agency service, credibility, reputation and effectiveness to the country. Trump constantly demonized his own FBI agency at every opportunity in his vendetta to destroy it with a king-like edict of a loyalty oath he demanded from all his cabinet and department heads who were forced to sign it. Comey, however, demurred when asked to sign the oath his refusal cost him his job. One of the main reasons the arts and the media are still available to us is due in part to the boldness and fearlessness of both communities. It is a testament to their resolve in

keeping our 2021 democracy and our citizens well informed. The main underpinning of our democracy, after all, relies on free speech and the rule of law in America. Both of these concepts have come under heavy attack over the last five years. Now is the time for using “better late than never” as a prudent rationale for reexamining why our current political leaders lately appear to be tired of living in our 245 year-old democracy. I still feel the sting of the ominous words spoken by Russian Premier Nikita Khruschev who smugly said “… we will bury you from within without firing a single shot.” Nonetheless, the threat of losing our democracy by any means is unacceptable, especially in today’s politically divided and angst-filled American society. Khruschev’s chilling words

spoken over 55 years ago seem less chilling and more perplexing in 2021 because of the head scratching actions on the part of what some of our elected officials are saying and doing these days. They have all sworn an oath to protect the Constitution and by extension, we the people along with our democracy-based way of life. Alas, it’s a pity but understandable why some Americans today feel the need to ask where one stands when it comes to politics and the nation’s future. The autocrats of the world are popping champagne corks to celebrate our embarrassment and fall from grace, and in their eyes, the United States of America is no longer the world’s greatest democracy. Also vexing is why some of our elected officials appear to Continues on Page 11

Terrific Titles Showcase Old and New Sounds

Now is the perfect time to celebrate titles featuring a parade of talents including The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Duran Duran, The Bootheels and Bruce Sudano. Artist: The Rolling Stones Title: Tattoo You: 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition (Polydor/Interscope/UMe) You might like if you enjoy: The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, classic rock Tell me more: The Rolling Stones’ beloved 1981 album “Tattoo You” has been reissued via a slew of 40th Anniversary editions. The 2CD edition of the album includes the newlyremastered 11-track album on disc one, and a brand new collection of nine previouslyunreleased songs offered on disc two; these so-called “Lost & Found” tracks are newly completed with additional vocals and guitar work by the band. There are some really great tracks here; my favorites include the full-hearted rocker “Living in the Heart of Love,” a rousing take on the Chi-lites’ “Troubles a’ Comin’,” fiery original rocker “Come to the Ball” and freewheeling cover of bluesman Jimmy Reed’s “Shame Shame Shame.” The remastered original album — which features favorites such as “Start Me Up,” “Hang Fire,” “Neighbours” and “Waiting On A Friend” — sounds glorious. In addition to the two-disc version reviewed in this column (which also has an excellent 20-page booklet including an essay from Kevin Howlett and Jeff Slade), there are several expanded configurations of the album that include “Still Life: Wembley Stadium 1982,” The Rolling Stones’ London Show of the “Tattoo You” tour. That 26-track set includes hits such as “Under My Thumb,” “Let’s Spend The Night Together,” “Honky Tonk Women” and Brown Sugar.” Information: RollingStones.com.

two-disc “Carnegie Hall 1970” escape your attention. On Dec. 4, 1970 Young performed two solo acoustic shows at Carnegie Hall in New York. The 23 tracks featured on Young’s essential “Carnegie Hall 1970” have been mixed from the original 1/4 inch tapes by Young and Niko Bolas. The historical recording is magnificent; the power of Young’s performance, stellar set list and energy of the event is palpable. The audience is fully attentive cheering when Young starts and stops but wonderfully quiet during his delivery of a parade of masterworks ranging from “Down By The River,” “Cinnamon Girl” and “I Am A Child” early on disc one to “Only Love Can Break Your Heart,” “Old Man,” “Ohio” and “Birds” on disc two. Young performs many of his most beloved early classics to the lone accompaniment of his acoustic guitar, harmonica and piano. “Carnegie Hall 1970” is the first release of the “Neil Young Archives” series; keep ‘em coming! Information: NeilYoungArchives.com.

Artist: Duran Duran Title: Future Past (BMG) You might like if you enjoy: Duran Duran, Graham Coxon, Tove Lo Tell me more: Duran Duran is back with the aptly-titled “Future Past.” Available as a standard 12-track set or via a deluxe edition with three additional tracks (the latter is reviewed here), the album finds the groundbreaking British band in top form. Singer Simon Le Bon, bassist John Taylor, keyboardist Nick Rhodes and drummer Roger Taylor have enlisted the esteemed likes of guitarist Graham Coxon (Blur), pianist Mike Garson (David Bowie) and vocalist Lykke Li to bolster their own talents on this ambitious return — the quartet’s first new studio effort since 2015’s “Paper Gods.” Additionally, acclaimed producers Erol Alkan, Giorgio Artist: Neil Young Moroder, Joshua Blair and Mark Title: Carnegie Hall Ronson bring their collective 1970 (Reprise) talents to the material. Duran You might like if you Duran blends its synth-pop, enjoy: Neil Young rock and dance signature sound Tell me more: Amidst all in the service of songs that are the recent high profile deluxe melodic and expertly presented. reissues of classic rock-minded The soaring opener “Invisible,” titles issued by The Beatles, The funk-tinged anthem “All Of You” Rolling Stones and The Doors and cascading “Anniversary” are this year, don’t let Neil Young’s early highlights. The cinematic www.desertstarweekly.com

“Velvet Newton,” dance floor sortie “Tonight United,” opulent “Wing” and sophisticated “Laughing Boy” all elevate “Future Past.” To be certain this is an album where the addition of guests enriches the reach of the album. The bewitching mid tempo “Give It All Up” has Le Bon’s distinctive vocals blending perfectly with Swedish songstress Tove Lo; rapper Ivorian Doll brings an artful edge to “Hammerhead.” The Japanese DIY-pop band CHAI add a delightful vocal energy to the buoyant “More Joy!”; Mike Garson’s masterful piano work escalates “Falling,” an tempestuous track that builds in power across most of its run until a jazzy finale that defies any obvious genre with gusto. The deluxe edition comes housed in a hardback book format with artful images (including band portraits by Rhodes) and full lyrics for the songs. Information: DuranDuran.com. Artist: The Bootheels Title: 1988: The Original Demos (Omnivore Recordings) You might like if you enjoy: Hüsker Dü, Radio California, Dinosaur Jr.

October 27, 2021

Tell me more: Before Luther Russell formed Those Pretty Wrongs with Big Star’s Jody Stephens and Jakob Dylan and Tobi Miller rose to fame with The Wallflowers, those musicians and drummer Aaron A. Brooks were members of the short-lived late ‘80s outfit The Bootheels. The quartet’s “1988: The Original Demos” reveals The Bootheels were something special despite their abbreviated tenure. Carving out a sound blending alternative rock, post-punk and noise rock, the group’s strengths are obvious. Inspired performances abound, all heightened with the smart songwriting and particularly sharp interplay between the guitar work of Dylan and Miller. The mix of hard-edged material (the racing “See It In Your Eyes,” “Wasted Dime,” “Queen of Hearts”), edgy melodic rock (“Empty Wallet, Empty Bottle, Empty Heart,” “Halfway There”) and more rueful sonic territory (“The Deal,” “Interstate 68 Blues,” “B-Line for You”) makes for a fun listen. Produced for release by Russell and Grammy winner Cheryl Pawelski, it’s wonderful to see these 33-yearold recordings arrive for rock fans to celebrate. Information:

OmnivoreRecordings.com. Artist: Bruce Sudano Title: Ode To A Nightingale (UMe) You might like if you enjoy: Bruce Sudano, Andrew Gold, Boz Scaggs, classic rock Tell me more: Singersongwriter Bruce Sudano is back with another winning album, the eight-track “Ode To A Nightingale.” There is a life-affirming spirit displayed by Sudano in the performance of his songs; the arrangements on the new release showcase his emotive lead vocals and smart song craft. The shimmering melody-rich “A Cosmic Ride” has a joyful and positive vibe. The darting folk rocker “Ode To A Nightingale” features lead and harmony vocals, dancing musical textures and an infectious rhythm that play in perfect symmetry. “Not Your Hero” is a confessional and affecting acoustic ballad. The highlights on the album are “In Shadowland” and even more sparse “All Hands,” songs that are reflective and stirring — both capture the uncertainty of these times with power and sway. Report: California Wetlands Help Slow Climate Change By Suzanne Potter/PNS SAN DIEGO -- Ninety percent of California’s wetlands are gone, and the movement to restore them has taken on added urgency in light of the climate crisis. A recent report by the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center encouraged California to restore and expand the natural carbon sinks up and down the coast. James Holmquist, an ecologist at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and co-author of the report, said it maps out the best places for so-called “blue carbon” mitigation projects. “They’re one of the few ecosystems that can take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and store it long term and lock it away in their soils,” Holmquist pointed out. Holmquist added plants

in tidal marshes scrub carbon from the atmosphere and send it to their roots, which later die and add to the soil bed. ReWild Mission Bay is a blue-carbon restoration project in San Diego that would like to see local marshes restored. Unfortunately, the City of San Diego is about to release a new land-use plan, which could require a campground built on marshland decades ago to relocate. Andrew Meyer, conservation director at the San Diego Audubon Society, said the project would rebuild tidal wetlands that lock away carbon. “The priority for this space should be the blue carbon benefits we can get from wetland restoration,” Meyer asserted. “Our park uses can fit in the banks of a restored, vibrant wetland.

This is the best place for wetland restoration in Mission Bay, in all of San Diego.” The Coastal Carbon Network is working on

releasing more data on blue carbon from other areas of the state, including Bodega Bay, Bolinas Lagoon, Humboldt Bay, Morro Bay, Newport

Bay, Point Mugu, Seal Beach and Tijuana Estuary. The Pew Charitable Trusts provided support for this reporting.

Why are we still mired in that Alegoricaly Infamous Washington D.C. Swamp Continued from Page 6

be recanting or abandoning their original sworn oaths? We have been taught that the truth to power pushback from the people will set us free. If so, why is our American way of life over the last five years beginning to look a little frayed around the edges? The arts and our media are the best pathways to reach the people who, allegedly and ultimately, are in charge of America via the power given them through our Constitution that guarantees all U.S. citizens the freedom and the right to

vote. Remember, Congress allegedly works for us. We owe it to all the people that we remain a refuge for free speech in these politically charged and perilous times. Every day in America that brings more troubling new facts and/ or news about a new scandal relating to our politicians makes my heart sink a little more and I begin to worry again for our future as a democracy. Also I believe that it’s safe to say that most Americans are familiar with the political term “drain the swamp.” Five years ago the incoming political players promised to

drain that swamp and “Make America Great Again.” Most of our countrymen are law abiding, God fearing, patient folks, who are still waiting… and waiting… and waiting… for that change to take place. As a country we have survived many ups and downs because we are a unique and special nation. We have worked very hard in our 245 years of existence to become the envy of the world. We, however, are not perfect, but we continue in the pursuit of seeking perfection. After all, life on planet earth is a complicated,

on-going work in progress. Personally, I find it more rewarding these days to be an optimist rather than a cynic. So, this time let’s really “drain the swamp” for the right, noble,

and honorable reasons. For if we fail in this pursuit, dark and dangerous days and perhaps, even years, are in store for the greatest democracy the world has ever known.
