Meditation workshop and My Yoga Story series by IWN to mark IDY 2023

Integrated Women’s Network (IWN) and Integrated Cultures ACT (ICACT), in association with the High Commission of India, Canberra organised, its signature Yoga event, a series of online Yoga talks and practical sessions for the community to celebrate the 9th International Day of Yoga – IDY 2023. Themed My Yoga Story – these talks focus on the yoga journey of individual speakers who shared their experiences of and with yoga, as practitioners and teachers; how they approach their yoga practice and what they offer in their classes. Every talk included a Q&A session for the participants to engage with the speakers.

In 2021 and 2022, IWN had organised eight sessions each year, coincidentally reflecting Ashtanga yoga propounded by Patanjali.

Session 1 – Saturday 3 June - Yoga talks by Elena Amani, Founder Yoga for Posture, Canberra and Robyn Lewis, Director Yoga Enlightenment, Canberra

Session 2 – Saturday 10 June - Yoga stories of Alan Goode, Director Yoga Mandir, Canberra and Rajni Ghai Malhotra, yoga and mindfulness consultant, founder of YouGo Yoga with Rajni.

Session 3 – Saturday 17 June - Yoga talks by Mella Wilkins, Vibrant Yoga and Coaching and Eliane (Eli) Haski Director and teacher, Canberra Yoga Space

Session 4 – Saturday 24 June - Yoga talks by practitioners Radhika Gupta, Nirvana Yoga with Radhika and Jon Smillie, Canberra Yoga Space

Session 5 – Saturday 1 July - Talk by Gaurav Rastogi, Entrepreneur, Dhyana and yoga teacher on the topic ‘Take back your mind, attention and energy’.

Session 6 - scheduled for Saturday 29 July - interactive yoga session by Vijay Arora of VA Yoga On Line on the topic Yoga integration for excellence in health.

Through their MY Yoga Story series, IWN brought together yoga practitioners across the various branches of yoga, with different lineages, to share their experiences. Feedback has been very positive.

IWN had also organised a meditation session to mark World Meditation Day on 21 May 2023. IWN is thankful to Rajni Ghai Malhotra (YouGo Yoga with

Rajni) and sister Panna (Brahma Kumaris, Canberra) for leading this session.

Ms Jayanti Gupta, Founder Chair IWN, is delighted with the response and participation of the community, in Canberra, interstate and overseas. Through these yoga series and meditation session, people are gaining insights into better health and wellbeing management across the globe. IWN acknowledges the support of the Yoga teachers, Yoga schools, Desi Canberra, People Powered Radio 2XX; Radio Harmony {Samanvay} (Wednesdays 7 – 8 pm) and Radio Gender Equity Matters {GEM} (Sundays 2-3pm) broadcast on 2XX FM 98.3.
