CREATE FURNITURE ARRANGMENTS THAT ARE DIFFERENT.” sPlus.com) in every fixture. “I love the way they warm up room,” she says. To take advantage of natural light during the daytime, do away with heavy drapes. 5 CREATE UNEXPECTED FURNITURE ARRANGEMENTS Don’t be afraid to break the rules. Create furniture arrangement that’s “different.” For example, you don’t have to have sofa and love seat in your living room just because everyone else does. Instead, try four comfortable armchairs. In the bedroom, if your bed works best when it’s covering part of window, so be it. “There are no design police waiting HOW TO CLEAN A FABRIC SOFA LIKE AN EXPERT GENERAL CLEANING & MAINTENANCE Picture this: your in-laws are coming for visit. You’ve spent the week scrubbing the tub, dusting baseboards, and buying all of their favorite snacks. After night of jubilant conversation and the perfect meal, you go to set up the Soma sofa bed. That’s when you see them: the crumbs. You forgot to vacuum in the crevices of the sofa, and now your in-laws can see that they were right about you. This is all to ay that regular sofa cleaning and maintenance is crucial to not only elongating your sofa’s life– but yours too. To avoid these kinds of nightmare situations, make general cleaning and maintenance regular part of your sofa care routine. Start by vacuuming every two weeks or so. Use the fabric attachment or soft brush head to vacuum up any of those telltale crumbs, dust, or other dry to issue you a ticket,” promises Brun. An unexpected setup might make your space more useful, perhaps giving you room for dresser or desk that wouldn’t fit in a traditional arrangement. 6 MAKE A STATEMENT With paint, “the lighter your walls, the better,” says Soto. While darker paint colors do make room seem cozy, they often give the illusion of less space. The reason: light colors reflect and multiply light, while dark colors absorb it. To make a room feel airy, Soto sticks with cream, beige, light grayish-blue and lavender. 7 TAKE ADVANTAGE OF VERTICAL SPACE If you’re going to splurge, custom built-ins are the way to go, says Brun. Lofty rooms reach their full potential with one-of-a-kind shelving units that reach from floor to ceiling. Custom storage also helps you maximize out-of-the-way nooks, like the area under flight of stairs. Not ready to commit to contractor just yet? Easy-to-install floating shelves ($29.99; ContainerStore.com) hung above bathroom and bedroom doors are great for bulky items, like spare towels and winter sweaters. Autumn | COUNTRY LIVING | 35 No matter how generous your home’s square footage, chances are, at some point will seem like the walls are closing in on you. Perhaps you favor bulky bedroom furniture or painted your dining room walls dark maroon on whim. Or maybe your knickknack collection mysteriously multipliedx and has taken over your living room—seemingly overnight. Whatever the reason, your rooms appear smaller than they actually are. 1 TICK THE SENSES Just like pinstripe pants make your legs seem longer, striped floor will make room appear to go on for miles, says designer Kelly Edwards from Style Network’s Tacky House and HGTV’s Design on Dime. Use an oversize mirror to enhance the effect. “Go big or don’t bother!” says Christine Brun, interior designer and author of Small Space Living. See-through furniture—either glass-topped tables or pieces molded from Lucite or acrylic—will also fool the eyes. trio of acrylic nesting tables ($95; InteriorExpressOutlet.com) provides endless surface space without cluttering room visually. Prefer more substantial furniture? Pieces that match your wall color within shade or two take up less visual space, says Sabrina Soto, one of Target’s Home Style Experts. 2 LIGHTEN UP Light-colored countertops in kitchens and bathrooms make surfaces seem more spacious, says Edwards. Even if you’re not ready to revamp whole room, you can redo your countertops over weekend. “The darker the tile, the more cramped the surface will look,” warns Edwards. On smaller scale, look for light-colored storage pieces that blend in with your existing wall color. A white storage bin ContainerStore.com($11.99), tucked in corner, unobtrusively holds clutter. 3 OPT FOR STORAGE FURNITURE “Dual-use furniture creates more room by increasing the function of each space,” says Brun. An entryway bench with storage space Busy-Kids. com($97.97) the perfect perch for putting on shoes as well as a convenient spot to stow the things you usually forget on your way out the door, like reusable grocery bags, and seasonal accessories, such as umbrellas. A flip-top ottoman Target.com($79.99) holds the bedding for a foldaway couch or out-of-season throws until you need them. 4 UPGRADE YOUR LIGHTING Don’t rely on overhead fixtures, which pool light in one spot. Try to have several lighting elements in every room. “They draw the eye around, giving the illusion of more space,” says Edwards. Soto puts soft pink bulbs ($4.99 for 2, Lamp“DUAL-USE FURNITURE CREATES MORE ROOM BY INCREASING THE FUNCTION OF EACH SPACE”

1our Talet play. That year, Top Trumps and fidget spinners were the new craze. Everyone would play in class with it. In English, we had Miss Kraus. We learned multiplication that year with lots of rhymes and songs to make us remember our times tables. We even created our own rhymes. We went to the Mo Math Museum in the city. At the end of the year, we had a reading log party. We also made ices with candy fish. We froze them overnight and ate them the next day. It was such memorable year!

Graduation appears to be culmination and an end of sorts, but in reality it’s just the beginning. The past 8 years have helped you solidify the foundations for your future in life. You have learned from and have been cared for by some of the finest and most respected principals, teachers, and Rabbis. There is no doubt that the seeds that they planted in you will blossom and deliver fruits of success in the future. It is not an easy world out there, but it’s a beautiful world when you have the tools to navigate and enjoy life, and that’s what we hope you have received while in elementary school. Soon you will be going into high school. It is our hope and prayer that you continue in the path that you have started and that you maintain your connection to the teachers, and Rabbis that have cared for you all these years. We are confident that you will become the future leaders of our community and be shining examples of what means to be a YDE graduate!

graduating class 2022 individual תיטרפ החגשה and “ידועב” is saying more than just life. “ידועב יקלאל הרמזא” means, sing praises and thank my God that He personally takes care of me and gives me much more than just life. That is the difference between the two parts of the קוספ Also, הריש is first because it is דוד’s simple praise. Then דוד praises Hashem on a higher level of praise. Like we learn in ח"כ תוכרב “ןידירומ אלו שדוקב ןילעמ”— we go up when we praise Hashem. That’s why whenever it says “הרישא” and “הרמזא” together, “הרישא” is first and then “הרמזא” like we see in ז"כ קרפ of םיליהת it says “'הל הרמזאו הרישא” Elliot Esses We learned how to read Hebrew and learned the sounds of each letter. We also had play and received our very first siddurim with our name engraved in it. Remember when Rabbi Miller would pretend to get blown out the door because we were singing the Alef‑Bet so loud. At the end of the year, we celebrated with our siddur play! Rabbi Shamula was our rabbi. It was so fun as he taught us the Aleph‑Bet and how to read Shema. We followed along as Rabbi called out the line number in our new siddurim. We also had Morah Dasi in the afternoon. We used to sit at the tables as she would teach us basic math and how to read books. We had list of sight words called the Magic 100. After finishing all levels, we would have test. We would get certificate after finishing. We also had computers where we would play educational games. We were able to print out certificates after we finished certain levels. We would also play with blocks and color pictures. Everyone was going crazy over Gogos. It was great and fun year! Remember when we got our first Tehillim books? And who could forget all the Sundays when Rabbi Oren would make raffles and tell us lots of great stories. Rabbi Haddad was our rabbi that year. Learning how to pray and singing Tefillat Chana every day is unforgettable. We also had Rabbi Aghai as our assistant teacher. We used to watch educational videos every Friday and Sunday. Young Abraham, Out of Egypt, and The Queen of Persia were our favorites. Rabbi also took us out for pizza and ice cream as a reward for our good work. In English, Mrs. Leifer would start off each day with a song. We would bang on our desks as we would sing. We would learn Math and Science. We had spelling tests every week on list of words. We also started using the Journeys textbook with stories and lessons for every week. We even had spelling bee. Mrs. Leifer had a box of prizes for when we did good work. Rubik’s cubes were the new fad. Everyone would try and see who could solve the cube the fastest. It was an innocent and carefree year!
KWe started to learn Humash that year. We also moved to the McDonald building that year. We learned Tehiliot and Sofiot too. We had list of Shorashim that we needed to memorize. We also had tests on them. We had Lehavin workbooks that we would do homework in. We had Harav Yisrael Halevi as our Safa teacher. He would throw all sorts of candies at us, like peppermint candies and cinnamon candies. At the end of the year, we had Humash play and got our first Humashim. Rabbi Yedid gave all of us our Humashim and took pictures with us. Remember when we had our Humash play? Rabbi Levy would make learning fun! Rabbi Douek would play football with us at recess. We started second grade with high expectations. We had Rabbi Seruya and Rabbi Douek as our assistant. Mrs. Nachum was our English teacher. She used to have raffles every week for prizes. Also, we had Literacy Fair on countries. Our class had to do research on Greenland. Mrs. Nachum read us a book on Greenland and taught us how to count in Greenlandic. Rabbi Levy also gave out pogs with berachot of different foods on them. We went to the New York Hall of Science that year. We had so much fun playing and interacting with the scientific exhibits there. What an awesome year! Remember when we had our Talet play and all the stories Rabbi Haddad told us? All our parents and grandparents gathered in the gym and watched us as we got called up by Rabbi Miller to receive our Taletot. We had Rabbi Netanel as our rabbi. We had so much fun in third grade. We learned about Avraham and Akedat Yishak in Parashat Vayera. Whenever there was fight or an argument, rabbi would make us have court case. There were witnesses, juries, and even grand jurors. The rabbi would always be the judge. After we all voted, he would make the verdict. At the end of the year we had
