Corporate Identity Aim: To design a strong corporate identity and branding for a new premium salad bar named veggietown. Solution: I used two leaf shapes above the name of the salad bar thus creating a healthy natural look. The green colouring I used suggest nature whilst the red gives the company a vibrant contemporary feel. Combining these two colours in the name works well as they complement each other. The salad plate shows what the bar is all about giving people an instant feel for the company.

Corporate Identity Aim: To design a strong corporate identity and branding for a luxury retirement home company. Solution: Using a typographic image in the logo I captured the essence of the company. By bringing together two corporate colours I have created a feeling of luxury within the logo and letterhead design.

Magazine Layout Aim: To come up with a suitable design and layout for a health and fitness magazine. Solution: I chose the particular title as I wanted to do soemthing that reflected on health and fitness. The colours I used for the main title reflect on the colouring of the pictures in the article and on fresh fruit and vegetables.

Magazine Layout Aim: To come up with a design and suitable layout for a ‘Pets at Home’ magazine. Solution: I decided to focus on goldfish, and using their bright gold colours I went for big type as the headline. The pictures used all visually connect to each other and to the article.

Magazine Spreads Aim: Timed excercise. To design and layout this particular magazine within an hour. Solution: I was given the text and a variety of images to choose from. During the allocated time I came up with the layout of the design and incorporated similar images and colours throughout.

Masthead & Contents page Aim: To design and layout the contents and masthead page of a magazine. The logo also had to be planned and designed from scratch. Solution: I first came up with the concept of a funky logo for a family style magazine- using bright colours to appeal to a wide audience. I then designed the layout using plenty of white space and modern type in my final design.

Masthead & Contents page Aim: To design and layout the contents and masthead page of a magazine. The logo also had to be planned and designed from scratch. Solution: I first came up with the concept of a professional logo for a contemporary family style magazine- using a mixed range of colours to appeal to a wide audience. I then designed the layout using plenty of white space, modern type and big shapes in my final design.

Typographical Poster & Research Aim: To research and design a typographical poster on one of the designers of many of todays fonts- Neville Brody. Solution: I first did alot of research into the man behind these fonts- Neville Brody- who was instrumental in the way we all think about design today. I then did a write up on him and designed a poster for a type seminar he would be giving over- using his design patterns.

Colour Composition Aim: Using our knowledge of colour theory, the colour wheel, and its variants we had to create a colour composition. Solution: I designed a file, notebook and mousemat using complementary colours.

Packaging Aim: Research and design a suitable packaging for Carmel Winery’s new wine- the brand being called Discovery. Solution: I designed 3 different wine labels with each one representing something different- the first one representing France with an image of a French Chalet called French Clairette. The second one representing Italy with an image of an old Italian bridge, called Italian Verdicchio, and the third representing Spain with an old Spanish castle called Spanish Alberino. Its as though these countries have been ‘rediscovered.’

Cd Design Aim: To design and layout the front and back cover of a relaxation cd and create a booklet for the song lyrics inside it. Solution: I first came up with the concept of a telescope looking out into the wider world. Using this as my starting point I created the inside of the cd case with images of night and space. I also focused on using large numbering and a sans serif font to give the cd a modern look.

Cd Design The back of the cd features a city landscape at night.

Menu Design Aim: To design and layout the front and back of a trifold menu for a fast food restaurant. Solution: I first came up with the concept of displaying the food on a grill on the front and back cover as this reflected the name of the restaurant. I then decided to continue the colour theme throughout, so the overall look displays a quality fast food restaurant with an exciting vibe.

Menu Design Aim: To design and layout a menu booklet for an upscale restaurant. Solution: I first came up with the concept of using the Italian flag and landscape in my design as the restaurant is called Italiana and serves Italian cuisine. I then used modern sans serif fonts which reflect the nature of the menu, and I used colours which complement each other throughout. The result being a menu book- suitable for an upmarket restaurant.

Book Covers Aim: To design and layout bookcovers for a series of books on therapy. Solution: I first came up with the concept of using a white background and a clipboard image on each book as this gives a professional look. I then used the same fonts and style on each to show off the series, with a different image in the centre of the book to relate to that particular therapy practice.

Book Covers This page shows off one of the back of my bookcovers.

Advertising Aim: To design and layout an advertisement for a new coffee brand. Solution: I first came up with the concept of using a gold bucket as though to show that coffee is pure gold- thus the slogan ‘go for gold.’ Adding that to coffee beans and giving a name to the coffee brand results in a stong advert.

Advertising Campaign

Advertising Campaign Aim: To design and layout an advertising campaign for an insurance company. Solution: I first came up with the concept of using different images for the different categories of insurance- with this in mind I came up with a slogan relating to each image and corresponding to the insurance company. I used blue as my base colour as this is a corporate advertising campaign. Here are my key adverts for the campaign.

Brochure Design Aim: To design and layout brochure for a beauty salon. Solution: I first came up with the concept of using a folder and placing separate pages into it- I felt that this would give a more elegant look to the overall design. Using circles as a theme throughout I made each page into it’s own as a standalone, whilst the colours and circles link them together. This has resulted in a modern, pretty and feminine brochure which will appeal to all ages.
