They begin talking, and a friendship develops. This friendship helps Chani gain footing among her classmates, and eventually Chani and Tehilla make a shidduch btwn Chani’s older sister and Tehilla’s big brother.

In the meantime, Chani, 0n 11th grader, is having a very hard time socially after her best friend Hudi suddenly drops her, in favor of the “cool” yet superficial clique of girls. We are introduced to the world of high school politics…

WE’RE HERE BECAUSE WE CARE. SHARING THE CARING provides volunteers to accompany and support patients in hospital. Our volunteers also provide respite for families of patients in in hospital, particularly children.

provides a range of regular support groups for patients and carers dealing with long term illness and disabilities. These small groups provide information, inspiration and sharing, in a comfortable environment with refreshments and guest speakers.

Ezra CarE has ovEr 150 dedicated volunteers who provide lifts to hospital for people who need to attend hospital frequently or family members who need regular transport to hospital to be with their loved ones.

HOSPITAL RESPITE ROOMS

Hospital respite rooms also known as Shabbos Rooms, these dedicated spaces in five Manchester hospitals are designed to make hospital stays easier for Jewish patients and their families. We provide fully stocked kitchens with fresh and packaged kosher food which are re-stocked up to 3 times a week. Additionally, there are culturally appropriate reading material and newspapers.

FRIENDS AT HOME

provides volunteers to visit ill and elderly patients at home, easing their loneliness and providing respite and support to their families.

AGE WITH GRACE

offers elderly and homebound patients with practical & emotional support, referalls and signposting to care agencies and carers. We also offer dementia support and advice for carers and family members caring for an elderly patient with dementia.

CARING MEANS GOING THE EXRA MILE.

Ezra CarE has a full sizE Patient Transport Ambulance as well as two wheelchair accessible modified vehicles as well as twelve fully trained volunteers to CQC standard in patient handling. This service in invaluable for disabled patients who need to attend hospital non-emergency treatment. Ezra Care providing a Patient Transport Ambulance all required mobility equipment at short notice speeds up hospital discharges substantially. Our vehicles are also used by family members to transport disabled persons to important appointments or family occasions, enabling them to partake in family and social occasions, which they otherwise would miss.

Ezra CarE has a vast invEntory

of mobility equipment and disability aides, from Wheelchairs & electrically adjustable hospital beds to Oxygen Concentrators & Suction Pumps and everything in between. These are given on short term loan and are available at short notice. For larger items we have a team of volunteers to transport and assemble the equipment in patients homes.

Choose a site with as much sun as possible! If there is no sunny space, you can still plant a garden. Simply choose plants that thrive in shade.

Do not plan too large a garden. It is far better to begin with a small plot and increase the garden's size when the gardener is ready.

Keep the garden plan simple. Allow plenty of space for paths (at least 24 inches) and easy access to each plant (no more than a 24-inch stretch).

Choose plants and seeds that are appropriate for your site- sun-loving plants for sunny areas, shade-loving plants for shade. Ask before you buy plants; read the instructions on the seed packet before purchasing.

Choose good-quality tools that fit your young gardener's hands. Plastic "toy tools" are not adequate. Many garden tool manufacturers make child-size tools. Ask at your local garden center or check mail-order catalogs. Use tools properly. For safety's sake, never leave a shovel, hoe, or rake with its "working side" up. When it's not in use, stand or lean it securely against a vertical surface, such as a fence or building. Or lay it down, turning the blade/tines toward the ground.

As you and your companion(s) begin to plant, offer reasonable instruction, but do not be too particular. Seeds do not need to be planted in a straight row. Plant them in a circle or in a free-form design, or scatter them. Never cry over spilled seed.

Wait until the soil is moist before you try weeding. Then pull each weed gently, from its base, to remove the whole root.

Dig the earth in your chosen garden site to loosen the soil. Add some compost to enrich it. Rake it smooth.

Choose only a few varieties of plants to begin. Add others as you and your young gardener learn how much space and how much attention your garden requires.

• Potting Soil

Cut a 6 to 8 inch long piece of panty hose (any color will work). If your piece does not include a toe, then knot one end of the hose and turn it inside out. It will end up looking like a little pantyhose bag. Next, scoop 2 to 3 teaspoons of grass seed into the closed end. Fill the rest of the hose with potting mix and tie the hose closed. Use your hands to gently shape the ball into a head shape. Place the head in a shallow dish with the grass seed side on top. Use craft pieces such as wiggle eyes, buttons, pompom balls, felt and chenille sticks to make eyes, a nose, mouth and arms. Attach with craft glue or a glue gun. After glue has dried, carefully water your new plant person until the soil is thoroughly moist and place in a warm location. Check on it daily to make sure soil stays moist (if it seems to dry out quickly you can keep a reservoir of water in your dish), and within 3 to 5 days your new plant person will begin to grow “hair.” Once the hair is established, you can give him/her a hair cut or just let it grow and see how long it will get. If you have time and supplies, make more than one to create a whole family of plant people. 
