THE WOMAN-CENTRIC APPROACH INTO YOUR BUSINESS MODEL

Virtually all of our Woman-Centric home builders have had a transition time (typically a few months) in which they begin to integrate the Woman-Centric approach into their homes and their market position prior to their official “launch” of the Woman-Centric program. We refer to this as a (SOFT LAUNCH). It’s similar to how most businesses open for a few weeks prior to their “grand opening.” Several early opportunities exist to begin integrating Woman-Centric concepts, branding, and messaging. Many of our builders have successfully used this interim step to help sell out their existing spec homes, minimizing future confusion in the marketplace after the brand has been officially launched.

Beyond merely being aware of you, what comes to mind when a prospective buyer thinks about your company and the homes you build? (What is your ‘brand image’ or perception in her mind?) As important: is it accurate?

From among all of the other builders in your market, you’ve got to make it into her consideration set. Two of the biggest filters here are your website and your model home / showroom. Remember, prospects visit your website to rule you out in order to reduce the number of builders she will consider a manageable amount. In the same way, her initial visit to your model home or showroom is actually an attempt to simplify her purchase decision by removing you from further consideration.

Your marketing efforts can be examined using the framework on the previous page. Some of those efforts potentially impact more than one step. Welldesigned signage can raise awareness and communicate something unique and meaningful to prospective buyers. A media advertisement may influence people on any of the first three steps. Messaging in your model home and on your website has a strong effect on steps 2, 3, and 4. Blogs and social media cover the four initial steps.

“SOFT LAUNCH” marketing activities (incorporating the Woman-Centric brand/logo into corporate ID materials and some limited signage) were addressed on page C-1. But delivering key Woman-Centric messaging across all marketing activities takes time and considerable attention. It is helpful to start by identifying your current marketing efforts and those to which you’ve already committed. Then, identify key dates, such as the opening of a Parade of Homes or the dates of a home show where you will be exhibiting. Finally, work with your account coach to identify proven solutions available from Design Basics to incorporate into your overall marketing plan.
