Walk Slowly So You Don't Trip According to Scott H Young. the more time you give yourself to complete a goal, the more likely you'll achieve it. With any goal under 1-2 years, you're probably overestimating the amount you can accomplish. By undertaking new goals with deliberate slowness, you increase the chance you can achieve lasting success. Deliberate Slowness: Deliberate slowness has lost its appeal as a virtue. Although most people remember the old fable about the slow and successful tortoise against the faster hare, slowness is viewed as a sin in today's culture. Walk through any bookstore and you'll see promises to lose weight, make money and be successful in less time than you ever imagined. Lose twenty pounds in one week. Double your income in a year. Change any bad habit instantly. Although these promises may sell more books, they undermine the power of deliberate slowness. What would happen if you made your goal to lose twenty pounds, not in one month, but in one year? First, your likelihood of success would increase dramatically. The steps necessary to lose twenty pounds in a month are more drastic than losing twenty pounds in a year. Second, you're more likely to develop the habits of eating and exercise that will keep the weight off once you reach your goal. Permanent success, even if it takes longer to reach, is worth far more than any fleeting achievement. Almost any goal is achievable, but it might not be achievable within the deadline you set. If I set the goal of reading 1000 books, that goal is relatively easy within 30 years, strenuous within 7 years and almost impossible within 3 years. Setting the goal to become a millionaire is almost impossible in 1 year, difficult in 10 and practically a sure thing with 40 years, provided you follow a plan. Patience is Underrated: Patience must underlie deliberate slowness. Almost any goal is achievable within a long enough time frame. However, the longer the time frame, the more patience you have to exert to keep your behavior consistent throughout this time. If you set the goal of investing $100 per month, but give up in less than a year, you won't achieve any meaningful increase on your investment.

As Central African Republic crisis deepens, TCS, Mitsubishi to set up software services firm in Japan UN agency scales up food assistance As the unprecedented crisis in the Central African Republic (CAR) continues to deepen, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has accelerated its operations – distributing 60 per cent more food in April than in March. “This is the highest figure so far this y e a r, ” W F P spokesperson Elisabeth Byrs told reporters. She said that as of 29 April, almost 200,000 people had received food assistance – including 24,700 children who were given special nutrients. A targeted supplementary feeding supported 3,000 malnourished children aged six months to five years and 2,500 children hospitalized in paediatric units. WFP also started a food by
prescription programme this month, assisting 3,000 malnourished HIV patients. Globally, the agency supplied 1.3 million HIV and tuberculosis patients with food assistance. It also provided a school restaurant programme to nearly 32,000 children. “WFP is expanding its operations geographicall y inside the C e n t r a l A f r i c a n Republic,” Ms. Byrs continued. In December, WFP reached four urban centres with food assistance, by March it expanded to 21 locations and in April to 35. The UN agency is also increasing its assistance both in and outside of the capital, Bangui – currently delivering aid up to 2,000 kilometres away from the capital.
Child prodigy to Innovation Jockey “My innovation – the app Sales Desk is developed with a mission to lead in the retail industry.” Coming from anyone else this would sound like an idle boast, but Yuvraj Singh is no ordinary 18 year old. The Jalandhar boy was computer literate before he had even learned how to read, a fact that led him to be nominated for the Guinness and Limca books of world record, and made him the local media darling at the tender age of four. He would also go on to launch his first website www.yuraj.name at 12 years old and followed that up by starting his own company Devil's Infotech in 2010. He names his parents, both software engineers, as his inspiration. Sales Desk, a mobile app to help retailers keep
track of their sales records is the result of his interaction with his father's clients, mostly retailers who he says were constantly exasperated by current methods of tracking sales. The innovation helped him get shortlisted from among four and a half thousand hopefuls for Innovation Jockeys season 2. “Sales Desk filters data in four categories that are daily sale, weekly sale, monthly sale and yearly sale. The user can view the total sale and generate tax and email reports very easily using my application,” Yuvraj explains. The app aggregates sales data in a way that also allows the retailer to monitor sales data at multiple venues.
MUMBAI: India's largest IT services exporter Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Monday said it has tied up with Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation to set up a software services company that will be operational in Japan from July this year. The two companies said in a joint statement that they have signed a "definitive agreement" for setting up the new entity, in which TCS will hold the majority 51 percent stake, while Mitsubishi will control 49 percent share. As part of the deal, TCS' Japan unit Nippon TCS Solution Center will be merged with Mitsubishi's IT Frontier Corporation to form a single entity. The transaction will create a
new IT services company of significant scale in the Japanese market, the statement said. "This strategic transaction signifies our serious commitment to the Japan market. TCS will now have the scale, strong local presence and our full range of global capabilities to serve the Japanese corporations effectively and accelerate our growth in Japan market," N. Chandrasekaran, chief executive officer and managing director of TCS, said in a statement. "We deeply value the partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation and look forward to leveraging our mutual strengths in the Japan market" he said.

Jh ujsUæ eksnh th dk i= vYek fdM~l ds uke Sajid Khan: I had to work 9 times harder for HUMSHAKALS
The wait is going to be over very soon. After the unveiling of its digital motion poster a few weeks back during India-Pakistan T-20 match, HUMSHAKALS promotion would now be entering its second leg. Theatrical promo of the Sajid Khan directed comedy would be launched online across all channels. "The motion poster was just a teaser of sorts and now with the film nine weeks away, there would be enhanced momentum in the film's promotion starting with the theatrical trailer," confirms our source. Those who have had a dekko already are vouching for it to be just the kind of Summer blockbuster that one is expecting. "It is a fast paced promo with something happening practically every moment," reveals an insider, "It is rip roaring, colorful and vibrant.
Mourinho says Chelsea's 'defensive football' only way to qualify for CL L O N D O N : Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has agreed that he has made the club's football dull to watch this season, but insisted that it had been the only way to make sure that his squad qualified for the Champions League. Mourinho defended his conservative style, for which he has been criticised over the past two weeks for defensive displays in Atletico Madrid and Liverpool, saying that he changed Chelsea's tactics after they shipped six goals in four days at Sunderland and Stoke City in December.
According to the Mirror, Mourinho said that at a certain moment of the season he made the decision to stop Chelsea's evolution in style and philosophy of play and go the only way, with the team and the players so that they could get results. Mourinho said that he felt that his squad had no conditions to go as far as they did in the Champions League or in the Premier League if Chelsea did not transform its style of play. The Portuguese said that there came a moment when he felt that it was dangerous and that there was a big risk that they could be out of the top four, so they opted for a bit more stability and development of a certain philosophy and the team became more strategical and less intuitive from that point.Chelsea can still win the Premier League by beating Norwich City and Cardiff City if both Liverpool and Manchester City blow up, the report added.
India witnessing NGO boom, there is 1 for every 600 people NEW DELHI: For a country which till recently had a weak civil society movement, India is now witnessing a boom in the NGO sector. With a population of 1.2 billion, the country could well be the land of opportunities for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with the Central Bureau of Investigation conservatively estimating 20 lakh of them already operating in states and union territories. The mind-boggling figures boil down to one NGO per every 600 people. Compare this to the latest government data on police. According to the latest figures from the Union home ministry, India has just one policeman for every 943 people. But there is an accountability deficit among the NGOs. And that's how CBI got into the picture as the Supreme Court responded to a PIL. Many don't submit details of receipt of grant and spending to income tax authorities, the CBI told the apex court. On the SC's order, the CBI sought information from
the states and UTs about operation of NGOs and status of audit of their funds. Major states — Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh — have provided no data about the number of NGOs operating in their territory. Without the statistics from these major states, the CBI was informed by other states about the existence of 13 lakh NGOs making the a g e n c y conservatively estimate that their number could go well be over 20 lakh. In Uttar Pradesh alone 5,48,194 NGOs are operating. Kerala had 3,69,137 NGOs, Maharashtra 1,07,797, Madhya Pradesh 1,40,000 and Gujarat has 75,729 NGOs. While Kerala and Maharashtra have given details of finances of the NGOs operating in their area, Madhya Pradesh gave partial information about their funding. Gujarat was completely silent.
The very USP of seeing Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor is well projected here. Moreover, for those looking for glamour quotient, Tamannaah Bhatia, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta make for an enticing appearance too. Just wait and watch." Apparently, Sajid went through the minutest details for days at succession to get every frame right and went through multiple options before green lighting the promo which is now ready to be released. "I had to," says Sajid, "My promise to the audience is '9 Times the Fun' and for that I had to work at least 9 times harder on the promo."No wonder, producers Fox and Vashu Bhagnani are vouching for the promo that has been cut and are anticipating record views for it in quick time before the film readies for its 20th June release.
NGO slams EU over ethical, transparency standards Complex decision-making procedures and opaque bureaucratic negotiations have undermined the European Union's transparency rules and left the 28-state bloc vulnerable to corruption, a leading NGO has found. A Transparency International (TI) report, released in Brussels on Thursday, also found EU institutions did not have policies in place to protect whistle-blowers nor to manage conflict of interest concerns in staff appointments. The director of TI's Brussels office, Carl Dolan, said that while EU institutions had "done a lot to put their house in order," that work had been undermined by "complex rules, complacency and a lack of follow-up". The report examined governance and transparency mechanisms in place in 10 EU institutions, bodies and agencies, and found their effectiveness had been compromised by poor practices and a failure to allocate sufficient staff and funding. Incidents in recent years have highlighted concerns over conflict of interest and corruption within the EU, which has an annual budget of approximately 140 billion euros. In 2011, a "cash for amendments" scandal suggested members of the European Parliament were ready to accept bribes. That case broke after a British newspaper had
reported that three MEPs had signed contracts to accept payments from journalists posing as lobbyists of up to 100,000 euros in exchange for proposing amendments to bills being debated in parliament. In another instance, EU health commissioner John Dalli was forced to resign in 2012 after the EU fraud office found a Maltese entrepreneur used his contacts with Dalli to seek a bribe from a Swedish firm in return for changes to draft tobacco legislation. The TI report calls for the introduction of a mandatory lobbying register for all EU institutions to record and disclose contact with lobbyists and their role in policy formulation. The European Commission, the EU's executive, responded to the report by saying that it made a "contribution to the ongoing debate on ethics and transparency." "We are very proud of the fact that we are one of the most open, transparent and scrutinised institutions in the whole world," said Antony Gravili, a European Commission spokesman. "The report clearly recognises that the Commission has taken a comprehensive set of measures, designed to reduce the risk [of corruption] to a minimum, and a very strong framework is in place," Gravili said.
US to enhance security cooperation with new Indian government WASHINGTON: Describing security cooperation with India as "a central element of the broad US-India strategic partnership", the US says it looks forward to working closely with the next Indian government to build on it. India's "rise as a competent and confidant and capable power that advances regional s t a b i l i t y, s e c u r i t y a n d prosperity is something that the United States welcomes and supports," Nisha Desai Biswal, assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asia told a Congressional panel. "The US-India relationship has continued to mature, deepen and grow over successive
administrations in both countries," she said in her testimony Wednesday before House Foreign Affairs Committee, Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific on "Assessing US Foreign Assistance Priorities in South Asia." Commenting on "the incredible display of democracy going on in India," Biswal said, the US continued to facilitate growth in IndiaUS trade relationship and ensure new opportunities for businesses in each other's markets. "Our collaboration on energy, science and technology, environment, space, education and counterterrorism continues to deepen," she said.

DoT requests TRAI to review spectrum pricing in 800 MHz band NEW DELHI: A Department of Telecommunications (DoT) led committee has requested the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to conduct a review of its proposal for the 800 MHz band spectrum pricing. TRAI has proposed a 50% hike in the reserve price to Rs 26.85 billion per MHz for the 800 MHz band. Currently, CDMA service providers use spectrum in the 800 MHz band but TRAI has suggested a higher pricing since it can be used in the 3G and 4G
technologies as well. The spectrum price was set at Rs 18.2 billion per MHz in the March 2013 auctions. TRAI has declared the hike in spectrum prices after linking the value of 800 MHz with final bid price for the 900 and 1800 MHz bands received in the February 2013 auctions, stated the DoT committee. Earlier, TRAI was of the opinion that the price fixed in one auction should not be a benchmark to determine the price for another bidding process.
As the United Nations Security Council convened its second urgent session this week on the situation in Ukraine, SecretaryGeneral Ban Ki-moon reiterated his grave concern over the rising tensions in the country's east and south, particularly events in the crisis-gripped city of Slovyansk, where two Ukrainian military helicopters were shot down overnight and a g r o u p o f E u r o p e a n observes captured on 26 April remains in detention. Briefing the Council on the “ s e v e r e deterioration” in Ukraine's eastern and southern region, Jeffrey Feltman, Under SecretaryGeneral for Political Affairs, read out a statement in which Mr. Ban said the escalating violence and reported further loss of life in Slovyansk, occupied by armed separatist insurgents since 12 April, 'is a stark reminder of how dangerous the situation has become.' The UN chief urged all sides to exercise “maximum restraint” and appealed to those with grievances to voice them peacefully, so as to avoid more bloodshed. The Secretary-General also called for all parties to respectfully Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also stressed that a diplomatic solution is the only way out of the crisis and that all sides “must redouble their efforts to revive the spirit of compromise displayed during the 17 April Geneva talks” between Ukraine, Russia, the United States and the European Union, at which an accord was reached on a series of steps to de-escalate tensions in eastern Ukraine, reportedly including demobilizing militias and vacating seized Government buildings. In addition, the UN chief announced that Mr. Feltman
will travel to Kyiv and Moscow next week. The Under-Secretary-General is expected to meet with senior officials and international partners to promote de-escalation and reiterate the Secretary-General's strong message that 'all actors need to exercise utmost caution to prevent the extremely fragile situation from spinning out of control.' Meanwhile, Mr. Feltman filled in for the Security Council troubling details about the recent events, which he said “threaten a s e r i o u s destabilization of the country and the region, as well as the unity of Ukraine itself.” In more than a dozen other cities in Donetsk Oblast and Luhansk, an increasing number of buildings are being held by armed groups. As for the situation in the eastern city of Slovyansk, he explained that the city of 125,000 in Donetsk Oblast has been occupied by armed insurgents since 12 April. During the ongoing operations by the authorities, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, two helicopters were shot down overnight with at least one pilot killed. A number of other casualties have also been reported on the ground, on both sides. “The total cannot at this stage be completely verified. The acting Minister of Interior has stated that a number of road blocks have been removed from around the city, but from the media, we understand, that tense standoffs continue at least in parts of and around the city,” Mr. Feltman said. At the same time, the seven military observers under the auspices of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and accompanying Ukrainian military staff being held by gunmen in Slovyansk remain in detention.
