Looking ahead at the coming Raksha Bandhan festival, he asked the people to do something special for women. "Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, I urge you, please enroll the sisters who work for you, at your homes and in your fields, for the Rs. 12 and Rs. 330 social security programmes," he said. The government's flagship life insurance scheme, which was launched last month, offers renewable one year life cover of Rs. 2 lakh for a premium of Rs. 330. The accident insurance scheme provides coverage of Rs. 2 lakh for a premium of Rs. 12 per annum. Referring to an initiative started by a village sarpanch in Haryana, the Prime Minister also asked people to post selfies of themselves with their daughters on microblogging site Twitter under #Selfie With Daughter. In this context, he also mentioned the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, asking people

to post interesting tag lines. The most interesting tag line, he said, will be announced in a future edition of Mann ki Baat. Haryana has the dubious distinction of being one of the states where female foeticide is rampant. In January, the Prime Minister had launched his Beti Bachao Beti Padao (Save the Girl Child, Educate Her) programme in the state. In the 22-minute address, the Prime Minister also said the people have demonstrated that there is a will to work.Since his address on the last Independence Day, in which he had appealed that toilets be built in every school, much has been done, he said. It meant building 4.5 lakh toilets - "it was ambitious to hope to finish a year something that had been pending for 60 years," he said. Two studies published in the journal Science illustrate dangers researchers forecast for sea animals as diverse as corals, fish and crustaceans. University of Washington oceanographer Curtis Deutsch said warmer ocean temperatures increase both the metabolic rates of ocean creatures and their demand for oxygen, but warm water contains less oxygen than cold, necessitating a move towards the poles to find cooler seas. "As habitat shrinks, populations are also likely to shrink. In the extreme, it leads to extinction, as we see with habitat destruction in terrestrial ecosystems," Deutsch said. As species migrate, they may end up in new environments with different ocean conditions, predators and prey, Deutsch added. The study looked at species including: Atlantic rock crab, a coastal crustacean; Atlantic cod, an open-ocean fish; sharp snout seabream, a subtropical Atlantic and Mediterranean fish; and the common eelpout, a bottom-dwelling, shallow-water fish in high northern latitudes.
