BRAIN SUITE Of all the technologies present in the unit, the brain suite is one of the most crucial. It integrates advanced image-guided surgery and all the necessary diagnostic tools, including high-field intraoperative MRI and powerful surgical microscopes, to treat complicated neurosurgical cases, such as brain tumors and vascular abnormalities. The Brain Suite at the NSH was the second worldwide, and was referred to in a health magazine as “the dream machine” being available at Neuro Spinal Hospital, Dubai. COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CT) SCAN Computed Tomography (CT) scanning is a sophisticated medical imaging technology that uses digital geometry processing to generate 3-D images that are invaluable in diagnosis and treatment of many problems. NSH is home to a new 64-slice Siemens Somatom CT-scanner. (The “64 slice” refers to 64 independent images that a scan produces at one time to be processed by a computer into a single 3-D image). This ultra-fast advanced CT scanner has some of the fastest rotation times available, which allow for highest-quality scans in a relatively short period of time. Continuing Medical Education (CME) The Continuous Medical Education (CME) program was introduced in 2007 and has now become a mandatory requirement for all healthcare professionals. Practitioners will need provide evidence that they have attended a sufficient number of CME hours if they wish to renew their licenses or are if they are to be promoted to a position of higher responsibility. The required number of accredited hours varies from 20–40 dependent on the profession. The Neuro Spinal Hospital is committed to furthering the professional development of its staff, as this ensures patients receive the latest and most up-to-date treatment methods. We offer in-house accredited CME sessions every Monday morning, from 8.30 to 9.30.
Patient Education: NSH not only aims at educating professionals but its patients too. It is very important for the patients to understand their disease and what procedures will they go through. This is why we have introduced a patient education section on our website. The patients can easily go through this section and read about and understand their disease such as the causes, terminology, symptoms, treatment, prognosis, risk factors, and so on. We have also added animated narrative videos from which the patient can understand the procedure they will go through before considering surgery.
Hours: Our emergency department is open around the clock to treat critically ill and emergency patients.
