Myrtle Beach Monofilament Line Holders

Did you know monofilament fishing line can take up to 500 years to break down? A local in our community donated five monofilament recycling bins to our department and we were happy to place them at our most visited beach accesses. We are encouraging local fishermen to use the recycling bins to keep the used line out of our oceans.

Backyard Saturday program in Saluda Shoals

At Saluda Shoals Backyard Saturday program, children get to experience a variety of educational and enrichment activities. From Bluebird Sensory Storytime to the Sensory Yard, children and families enjoy interactive playtime in nature.

New Fuller Park playground in Barnwell

This fall, the Barnwell Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department was able to unveil and hold the grand opening of the new Fuller Park playground and splash pad area.

Myrtle Beach Story Walk Aiken County Punt, Pass & Kick

A Story Walk has been added as an experience at one of our parks, Grand Park. The featured book is, Big Dance by Aoife Greenham. Each page is mounted low to the ground so anyone can read along. All of the stages include silly interactive instructions that make it fun for the whole family. The books will be replaced each quarter.

Richland County “Power in Pink”

On October 2, Aiken County PRT hosted their Punt, Pass & Kick local competition for boys & girls ages 6-14 at Harrison Caver Park.

Richland County hosted a “Power in Pink” event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month that provided Richland County residents with education, socialization and celebration of Breast Cancer survivors. The day included the Prisma Health Mammography Unit, line dancing, raffle prizes, giveaways, vendors, local radio station live broadcast, and lunch for all participants. This was our first “Power in Pink” event and we are already looking forward to next year!
