INTRODUCTION
It has been an exciting twelve months on Luxe et al, which has of course culminated in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2014. This year’s book of short listed projects lists some of the world’s most acclaimed projects, but equally some of the most innovative - which are as unique as they are varied. There are in all 66 successfully short listed projects for The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2014, they range from super yachts to sailing yachts, smaller power boats to conceptual schemes, private jets to commercial cabins, first class lounges and jet interiors. All in all, I think the mix of projects is exciting and inspiring and in the coming months we shall of course take a closer look at the winning and short listed schemes. For now here is just a little taste of what is to come. I am delighted to announce, ahead of the 2015 Awards opening, that The International Yacht & Aviation Awards will be extended considerably with many new categories created. We will of course keep you up to date with the exciting developments. Once again we would like to thank you for placing your votes online for this year’s Awards. At the time of going to print, voting is still open and we are not sure of winning projects. We will make announcements at The Awards Ceremony on 9th May and publicise to a wider audience from this point. Kind regards Joanne

Submitted by Y.CO, Ocean Paradise is a 55m Superyacht of unbridled luxury.
Refitted and launched with a list of new features, Reborn has gained an extra 5.5m, a new sheer line as well as a different hull colour, window pattern, internal layout, sun-deck, swim-deck and benefiting waterline.
As a unique and unconventional yacht, she brings elements of light and the sea into the interior. Large windows and un-obstructed views of the sea, with open light spaces were key.
The Owner’s additional cabin now features stunning 180-degree views. Externally the pool is now sunken and the mast is refined and modernised to reflect the yachts overall design.
Clean lines of the interior and the panelling accented by LED lighting gives the feeling that everything is floating. Stitched leather panels were desired for the cabins and main staircase in the famous styles of Lamborghini, Ferrari and Chevy.
The client was heavily involved in the rebuild of Reborn. Sterling Scott worked closely with the Owner’s ideas ensuring they were portrayed into each sketch, profile or detailed drawing made prior to the work being carried out.
With versatile decks the loose furniture can all be rearranged as well as a hidden 12-seat table on the sundeck.

As a traditional sailing yacht, she is adorned with classical accessories each with their own story – German rapiers, English pistols, daggers, barometers, compasses and cannons galore. A library containing a leather-bound collection of 16th, 17th and 18th century classics. Period marine paintings, and 15th century-style suits of armour – all add an interesting twist to the contemporary furnishings aboard S/Y Marie. www.davideastoninc.com

Designed by Valdi Knapic of AITAC, CM42 is an aggressive looking, 45-metre Superyacht characterised by powerful and decisive lines on first sight. Second glance reveals real CM42 character: sharp, sophisticated and impressive. The design is based on its character: sharp and inspired by wild sea life, sophisticated as its performance, impressive as comfort and joy of living on the sea. CM42 is an audacious and bold expression that has managed to rise above the conventional design, without being trapped in the clichĂŠ of becoming just another theoretical exercise. The design is comfortable, spacious, simple but different, safe and stylish. www.aitac.nl
Engineered to be the fastest Superyacht in the world, Fortissimo is currently being developed Ken Freivokh Design and Fincantieri Shipyard. There is transparency between interior and exterior, interplay of levels, handsome triple height atriums and treatment of the yacht as a proper transportation machine communicating the structure internally and externally, as well as a direct relationship with the sea. The structural solution is the equivalent of a space frame structure which is much more efficient than a beam and post structure, and the hull and deck can be calculated simply as the skin of the yacht. www.freivokh.com

Ecomar 40 is a super-efficient performance yacht developed by Tony Castro. This yacht follows the philosophy that less-is-more, simple-isbest. Ecomar 40 is designed to be very light but a well built yacht, comfortable, strong and meant for sea going passages. In order for powering predictions to be realistic a preliminary weight estimate was calculated. Initial investigations placed the vessel at approximately 80 tonnes displacement. This value allows the vessel to reach target speeds, which range from 30 to 35 Knots, depending on weight loading. The design brief is to design a yacht that represents good-value–formoney, easy to service and very fast for its length. www.tonycastro.co.uk

Designed by the Strasbourg-based Happy Design Studio France, this unique aircraft livery design and paint supervision was undertaken on a Bombardier Global 5000.
As one of the finest ACJ319 on the private market today, this KCJ concept is the essence of luxury aviation.
Consisting of five colours, each presents a fading effect from front to back. Only as a boarding passenger can the meticulous design be truly admired and appreciated as a piece of art.
With interior design from Comlux Creatives, it is one of the quietest Airbus Corporate Jets currently flying with cabin noise levels on average at 5dBSIL below the upper limit specified.
This project was a demanding challenge for Happy Design Studio France as there has never been a livery of this kind completed in such a short time frame.
The aircraft is licensed to carry up to nineteen passengers and can sleep eleven passengers very comfortably. There are two private compartments where passengers can truly spread out, relax and unwind in this five star resort like atmosphere.
The balance between the five colours and the perfect fading effect allows this impressive design to work incredibly well.
A home away from home concept – it is designed with an equal balance between business and leisure in mind.

Submitted by: Seymourpowell
Designer: Jeff Hontz
Interior Designer: Jeremy White, Richard Seale
This long-haul economy seat designed by B/E Aerospace aims to add glamour, prestige and luxury to intercontinental economy travel.
Seymourpowell have designed a concept economy seat for airline travel that has been inspired by different new materials and flexibility.
Remodelled to bespoke standards, the design sets a benchmark for comfort, living space and customisation. The typical flat seat back has been re-sculpted with a wraparound headrest shroud evocative of mid-century lines. Panels and armrests are fitted with fibre optic lighting and the patent-pending design gently illuminates the aisle floor. Adding an extra dimension to long-haul travel, key features include: business class inspired styling, cradle recline position, optimised knee space, fibre optic lighting, Italian leather and a branded decorative trim.
The concept named Morph has been designed to allow passengers choose the amount of space they pay for and to provide a better fit for more travellers. Adapting to the changing needs of each individual passenger, Morph is still a standard product and serves as an innovative alternative to standard seating arrangements on commercial aircraft today. Morph is a revolutionary product for travellers. By increasing comfort levels and adapting to people’s needs, it does not reduce the airlines capacity in any way.

Based at Hong Kong International Airport, The Bridge lounge was designed as a relaxing space for Cathay Pacific Airways passengers.
The CIP Lounge based at Istanbul Ataturk Airport exclusively serves Turkish Airlines passengers.
Reminiscent of a living room environment, it is a reassuring yet familiar space for passengers to settle in comfortably.
