We are the summer camp for you!
World Class Instruction at FJM Clinics The FJM Clinic Staff brings instructional and performance experience from the nations top college and high school marching bands, drum corps, winter guards, dance teams, and twirling lines. We recruit and employ talented performers and instructors from organizations such as The Cavaliers, The Glassmen, Northeast Independent, Blessed Sacrement, Zydeco, Northern Lights, Pride of Cincinnati, the University of Arizona, Louisiana State University, the University of Nebraska, Purdue University, The Ohio State University, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Notre Dame, Bowling Green State University, and Miami University (Ohio).
Each clinic is run by a clinic administrator with an extensive background in education, leadership, and pageantry instruction. With a combined 25 years of FJM clinic experience, our three administrators hold bachelors and masters degrees in education, communication, music, and school counseling. You simply will not find a more highly qualified and well trained instructional staff!
Drum Majors and Section Leaders FJM’s Drum Major and Leadership Program continues to be recognized nationally as one of the best programs available today for marching bands.
Drum Major: Our drum major curriculum combines a variety of conducting techniques with musical knowledge, understanding, and interpretation to provide your students with the most extensive conducting training available. Your students will be actively involved in making musical decisions to guide their conducting movements, training them to evoke optimal musical performance from your band. We also offer students the opportunity to participate in additional classes for marching technique and performance, instructional and teaching techniques to run sectionals, and leadership and motivational classes to help inspire your entire performing group. Nowhere else will your students get the quality training that FJM Clinics offers.
Section Leaders: Our curriculum offers a wide range of classes and topics for your students to personalize their experience for the demands of your group. Students will select many classes in leadership techniques, team-building and motivational ideas, problem solving and mediation, marching and performance techniques, instructional and teaching techniques to run sectionals, as well as some instrument performance classes to help them set a good example for their sections when they return. Send us the leaders in your ensemble and let us train them to be a valuable asset and aid in your daily routines and instruction.
Rifle, Sabre and Flag Lines FJM Clinics will bring to you the most current and up-to-date curriculum. With daily classes in equipment and movement technique, we will help your students strengthen critical technical skills and cutting edge equipment work. Your students will choose classes, routines, and combinations that suit their experience and skill level, all with attention to the latest choreography. We offer a non-competitive environment at FJM clinics. The purpose of our clinic is for students to gain knowledge in their particular discipline, as well as develop confidence in themselves.
Majorettes and Twirlers Majorette and feature twirler students will participate in daily equipment and movement technique to strengthen their critical technical skills, twirling series, and tricks, while experiencing creative, cutting edge choreography. We offer curriculum with a variety of options for students to incorporate dance movement, tricks, and tosses into their performance based on their experience and skill levels.
Dance Lines We offer a variety of dance techniques and styles for your students to strengthen their performance skills. Your students will have the opportunity to select routines created to different musical styles. We offer creative, cutting edge choreography that can be used for both football and basketball programs.
Drum Lines You can send your entire drum line including snares, tenors, bass drums, and cymbals to an FJM Clinic. Due to logistical limitations, we are not able to offer training in the pit section. Your students will receive specialized training in percussion practice and performance techniques. We offer group warm up and skill training exercises along with instructional time for your entire drum line to work on your fall music and book. Our instructional staff comes from top college programs and are actively pursuing music degrees. Your percussion students will also benefit from interaction with your auxiliary, drum major, and section leader students in attendance. We must have a minimum of 5 percussion students enrolled at the clinic site to offer this curriculum.
Advisors and Directors Classes will be available for advisors and directors each day. We offer discussions and activities in the areas of teaching and reinforcing technique, selecting and utilizing student leadership, organization, motivation, team building, and continuing to develop the skills learned at FJM Clinics. You will have the opportunity to meet with other directors at the clinic and discuss your concerns and struggles as a director.
Customized Choreography At FJM Clinics we will begin to choreograph routines to your own musical selections during our clinic instruction time. Our Clinic Coordinator will work with you to design a program that meets your special needs, and our highly trained choreographers will create an original routine at no additional cost. You must enroll at least 12 students in the same section. Notify our Clinic Coordinator at least three weeks prior to the clinic. First come, first served basis, so apply early!
