Fort Street Studio is widely known for its painterly carpets, originating from watercolors by artists Brad Davis and Janis Provisor who founded the company in 1996 and continue to contribute to the studio’s carpet designs. Designed in collaboration with James Merrell, this exquisite residence on Long Island’s North Fork peninsula delivers private access to the beach while also being tucked into the natural landscape. Inspired by the surrounding panoramic views, the designers specified lift-and-roll glass doors that stand over 12 feet tall and were handcrafted by Duratherm with cypress on the exterior and white oak on the interior. The exterior cladding of this ultimate beachside hideaway were specially finished to accelerate their natural weathering to achieve the desired melding with nature.
