SAY HELLO TO WIT DESIGN Sustainably produced in the United States, Wit Design is changing the way we think about children’s furniture. Their philosophy is strongly rooted in that good design is no longer just for adults and it’s no longer just creating smaller versions of regular sized pieces! While aesthetically pleasing, Wit Design’s furniture is also functional and durable allowing kids to be kids. It is furniture created for little bodies, big imaginations, and the endless energy children have. From the living room to the local library, Wit Design is innovating a new future fit for kids and admired by all ages!

Where did the name Wit Design come from? Wit is the nickname of one of my kids, but it also came from the unique and clever design of products that I wanted to create, much like the wit of the mind. What sparked the idea of sustainability being a key component of your products? I grew up in San Francisco and have always had a passion for sustainability and environmental safety and awareness. When I started Wit Design, I knew I needed to incorporate this. We made the decision to have everything produced in the U.S. and received a lot of strife at first and were even criticized for it. We stuck to our guns and over time the priority of our consumers have changed to our favor. Do you have a favorite design trend? Modern Design. I have always been a modernist. Like before it was even cool to be a modernist.
If you could meet any architect, who would it be? Julia Morgan. I lived in a house that an older woman rented to college kids. It was a Julia Morgan House. It was so incredible that this house always had really sensitive lights and views. She was the only woman who really got any notoriety and she designed the Hearst Castle. What’s a strange quirk of yours? I’m pretty quirky. I’m also an early bird, like I get up really early. I always have. Even in architecture school when everyone would stay up all night. I would leave the studio at two in the morning, go home and nap, and then come back at five. I’m morning oriented and feel much more productive. Did you have a favorite childhood game? I really liked wooden memory games because they were all the same size, solid, and felt good in the hand. I’ve always loved the simple things.
