The Choice is yours! Two years ago, we had our first online bred female sale, and started with a choice lot. Will Hilty purchased the choice lot in 2019 lot and the female he chose went on to raise the Reserve Dark Cross Barrow at San Antonio in 2020. That sow is a littermate sister to this pair of sows we are offering. They are backed by many banners and high selling females. Their sister, (belted gilt pictured) was named the Champion Open Show Crossbred Gilt ’19 Exposition by Travis Platt and went on to sell for $20,000. She was also named grand at many jackpots during the spring of 2019. The red belted gilt pictured would be a half-sister out of the same mother. She was 16th overall at the American Royal in 2018 shown by the Fox Family. These two sows come out of one of the deepest litters we have ever had on the farm.They are backed by the foundation of our sow herd and now they take a role in being part of the foundation as we have many direct daughters out of them. The high bidder will get the option to pick the one they want on their farm.The reason we are doing these as choice is because we are very high on both of them and we will be extremely happy to keep either of them to be the mother we continue to build around.

That same barrow was also High Point Berk and many time Top Five on the Iowa Jackpot series. The littermate sister was also Champion Berkshire Gilt in the FFA show and sold for $5,000 to Joe Eggers. 18-4 also is the mother of “Hawkeye” at Brice Conover’s and “Morning Star” at SGI. Bred to Family Jewels, so that might be kinda fun. Lot 2B ... This proven sow is the mother of the Frasher barrow last year that was Champion Berkshire and Third Overall Purebred at the Iowa State Fair FFA Show. So, when we were making our breeding decisions, her service sire was an easy choice: “Let’s make full sibs to her first litter.” One of the barrows out of her first litter was Champion Light Weight and went on to be the Fifth Overall Market Hog at the Iowa State Fair! Lot 7 comes from a very deep litter that had a bunch of success in 2020 with only three barrows in the litter.Two of her littermate brothers went to South Dakota and one stayed in Iowa. Both of the barrows in South Dakota made their way to the winners circle at many jackpot shows and were very competitive every weekend out. This same pair of barrows both grabbed banners at the South Dakota State Fair. One was Reserve Market Hog in the open show and the other barrow was Fourth Overall Market Hog in the Junior Show. The barrow that stayed in Iowa won two Jackpot shows and then won his class in the middle weight division at the Iowa State Fair. I would expect her litter to be deep with quality and win at any level.

Arin is not too impressed with me and my decision to sell 4-6. This fall we had four judging teams at the farm for workout in preparation for NBS. For our Yorkshire gilt class, we had 4-6, a gilt that was Reserve York Breeding Gilt in the ISF FFA Show, a gilt that wins her county fair, and another high placing gilt in the ISF 4-H show. To make a long story short 4-6 was unanimous class champion with all four judging teams. This girl is stout, correct, and packs a serious punch in terms of mass, spread and dimension! We are having a York dispersal and you better have plenty of room in the crate because she is full of babies. We decided to sell our one York sow as we start ramping up in numbers on our other breeds. It is going to be sad to see this one go! She definitely stands out and doesn’t look like a York. She is short backed big legged and extremely good on her pasterns. The mother of this sow is a High County X Thrift Shop and she originated from the Fecke Yorkshire Program. I like to try to make my purebreds look like crossbreds in terms of shape, muscle, and build. When I saw In Awe he was instantly the one I knew I was breeding her to. In Awe comes from Olsen York’s and looks like a crossbred but comes with papers!
