FOREWORD Though time w ill pass and we shall part, this book w ill be an unbreakable link in your chain of m em ories. And if, when looking through these pages you relive the happy days o f yesteryears for just a while, our efforts w ill not have been in vain. Thus, w e p r e s e n t

this book to you; may it bring

memories that w ill live through the years.

DEDICATION

The Burkburnett School System is f o r t u n a t e in having many valuable assets, but we find the g r e a t e s t of these to be our faculty.

From t h i s group, we have chosen one

whom we consider the friend of all. What w o u l d the first g r a d e r s do each year if he wasn’t there to greet them with a friendly smile and to help them t h r o u g h their first year in school? It is with sincere appreciation that we dedicate the *54 DERRICK to our grade s c h o o l principal, I. C . Evans.

IN MEMORY OF

v -

" The m e a s u r e of a life is not its duration, but its donation."

In nineteen brief years, Clarence W olf's

contribution to his world was far greater than that of many who h a v e attained die age of threescore and ten.

His devotion to his ideals, his genuine love for

a ll humanity and the glowing radiance of his smiling personality inspired everyone he met.

Let us strive,

through the deep sense of our loss, to remember our g r e a t e r gain in the privilege of having known and loved him .

Dear Students: This school year is slowly coming to an end. It is quite fitting that we stop and take stock of the achievements and experiences. W e have all heard the fam iliar melody and words of the beautiful hymn "Count Your Many Blessings, Nam e Them One by One. As 1 do this, I am convinced that no other field of endeavor has more satisfying returns than working with and for girls and boys. As they grow, we help them direct their learning activities, and, hence, play an important part in directing their growth and character. And so, as I count my many blessings, my association with you this year numbers one of the greatest. Your friend,
