Man is essentially of a gregarious nature. He wants to be with other people, to b e liked by them , and to be understood by them . Even his moments of solitude serve as preparation for his social relationships. Man can exist w ith food and shelter, but if he is to be happy, he must find his place in the world of people about him. The Am erican high school is a world of social relationships. Through its varied group activities m an can gain the acceptance and understanding he seeks.

Like a c h e m ic a l r e action, so cializin g happens any tim e , any p lac e two or m ore people co m e to gether - a t a dance, in the ca fe te ria , in the halls a t school. This is n atu ral to hum an beings.

School provides endless opportuni ties for social experiences.

V aried a c tiv itie s bring people to gether -----a ctiv ities w hich in clu d e everything from class m eetings

Groups form in the h alls betw een classes, and always there is tim e for the m ore personal relatio n sh ip betw een a boy and a girl.

Weekends bring a c tiv itie s and so cial relationships of a different nature, ranging from running errands on Saturday m orning to atten d in g church on Sunday m orning.
