A Simple Secret To A Better Life The Cat’s Out of the Bag By Eleanor Haspel-Portner, Ph.D. If you are like most people, you’ve read lots of “how to” books and spent lots of time and money trying to figure out ways you can improve your overall health, well being, and relationships. You probably asked yourself over and over again, “What am I missing that would make my life easier and work better?” Because you live in multiple layers of awareness at all times, in order to change your life, you have to shift all parts of your consciousness. Whatever you do to bring about shifts in your life must have impact on your mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical worlds. Consider your life in terms of these areas, and think about the relationship between them. Recognize that it takes time to see the importance of each. For example, if you feel physically tired or get less sleep than you need, you may find it difficult to concentrate or get things done that you planned to do. If you question the meaning of your life and purpose, you might find it hard to feel self-directed and may question your worth. If you feel upset about something, you may be less patient with loved ones and friends than if you feel happy and at ease. You can achieve balance by using a simple tool that is free to you. A simple secret to achieving the life you dream of having is accessible to you now. As reported in Sciences Daily (August 16, 2007), recent research from two independent sources, The University of California at Davis and Mississippi University for Women found that when patients write down what they are grateful for, their prognosis and health improves significantly within a few days, and dramatically within three weeks. The studies found that organ recipients who kept “gratitude journals” scored better on measures of mental health, general health, and vitality than those who kept only routine notes about their days. How you record your journal notes is thus crucial in the success you have in your life. This groundbreaking research shows that increasing feelings of acknowledgment of gratitude improves people’s health, well-being and quality of life. In other words, when you are grateful and write down what you are grateful for, you increase the effectiveness of your intention and attract positive results. Negative attitudes and negativity attract negativity. And unstructured journaling is less effective than journaling in a structured and specific way. When you use the protective, beneficial health effect of practicing gratitude you become an inspiration to others. You become and serve as a role model of positive energy.

A Simple Secret To A Better Life The Cat’s Out of the Bag Write Down 5 Things For Which You Are Grateful Every Day Build Positive Alignment using Gratitude Despite circumstances around you, make sure you shower yourself with loving thoughts and deep gratitude for the blessings you currently have. Even simple physical things you may take for grated, such as reading this report, require intelligence and competence. Acknowledge yourself for simple pleasures and build from here. When you write things down you anchor them. State what you are grateful for in a positive way. Because your subconscious mind operates in the present, it lives as though your thoughts are real. To make this process most effective choose something from each area of your life: something that you are grateful for in your everyday relationships with others, something that drives you and makes you who you are, something that you feel excited about emotionally, and something about your health or body you appreciate. Then choose at least one more appreciation. By using this addition to the practice of gratitude, you amplify its effect. To further magnify it for your benefit, read your statements of gratitude aloud to make certain that you hear what you wrote and so your subconscious mind receives your words as though you are hearing them from another person. Because it takes time for your cells to incorporate new information, intention, patience, and discipline are important in achieving change. A few simple additions to writing down your gratitude helps build the memory of your intention energetically and in your cells. Follow this simple process for at least 30-90 days so your subconscious mind learns to “read”, hear, and perceive congruently to your conscious reality mind. When you transform negative into positive feelings daily, the worlds come together in reality. “Seed” your life with what you imagine and dream. Watch it build and happen. Gratitude feeds on itself. To enhance your process add a few simple energetic positions when you read your gratitude statements aloud. These procedures balance the whole brain in ways to help your gratitude statements take root and build new pathways.
