“Creativity takes courage.”
- Henri Matisse
Introduction
“It is always a moving occasion to preface a new book, a new chapter in our ever-expanding chronicle of art from all over the world. Twelve years ago, we published the first volume of International Contemporary Masters, a slim volume with the ambitious goal: to be the start of a constantly lengthening and unfolding presentation of noteworthy art created in our times by artists from every corner of our planet. Today, with 12 volumes in the International Contemporary Masters series and 8 other anthologies, we can say that we have succeeded beyond our expectations. International Contemporary Masters and our other contemporary art anthologies Current Masters and Important World Artists have become a valued resource for art lovers, collectors, researchers, students and teachers, art consultants, gallery owners and other art professionals. Both the subject matter and the reach of our books extend all over the world. It has been our contention from the very beginning that great art is not only being created in centers of the art world such as New York and London but in every continent and country, in remote villages as well as huge urban centers. It is a point of pride with us that we are helping artists whose work might otherwise remain unknown to broadcast it far and wide. International Contemporary Masters Volume 12 is not an exception to the rule. This book presents 53 artists from 27 countries, with creation in almost every medium of the visual fine arts that can be presented on a printed page. We believe the vibrancy of their creations speaks for itself.

“Early life was filled with music since I came from a musically inclined family. Barely into my 20s, I turned to painting and knew that would be my life’s creative endeavor. My first classes were at the McNay Art Institute in San Antonio, Texas, followed by classes with other private instructors to learn specific skills. Eventually, I attended the University of Houston to finish my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting. Still lifes, landscapes, arroyos, wetlands, contemporary interpretation of fruit, flowers, and the occasional namesake swan have all been subjects through the years motivated by musical energy and color. When painting, it is important for the objects to be close at hand to be able to explore the lines and variations of color and shape. If one visits my space it is realized that the bunches of not only living flowers or fruit but vases of dried ones have a purpose. My intent is to capture the beauty of nature during the entire life process.” “Early as an abstract painter, my focus was on musical energy and movement, later moving to still lives and landscapes varying from an impressionistic style to a vividly idealized view. In this new series “In My Garden” I am seeking energy and movement of my original work, keeping techniques learned along the way. For the last two decades, my paintings have been with the Harris Gallery in Houston, Texas and in 30 gallery exhibitions over the past 30 years. They also hang in many private and corporate collections”

David Beeri - VIP I n t e r n a t i o n a l C o n t e m p o r a r y M a s t e r s X I I
David Beeri
United States
Beeri is an artist gifted with a special talent. He first began to paint on December 5th, 1975, driven by a strong inner inspiration. Due to his extraordinary progression, he became nationally known by 1979, and has been an exhibitory artist ever since. He has had a number of exhibitions in Hungary and several other European countries as well as Israel, the United States, Japan, China and Canada. The singular greatness and uniqueness of David Beeri’s talent as a painter is – among other things – due to his many gifts inherited from the world of arts. Let it suffice to mention the realm of music, virtually every part of which lives in his soul. Had he chosen to become a composer, he could have created a new, epoch-making world of music. Had he opted to play the violin or the piano, he could be sought after in the world’s best performance halls. The same goes for his inexpressibly beautiful and grandiose tenor voice, the hearing of which would be quite an event in the world’s greatest opera halls. Let us not assume, however, that he managed to eradicate his talents from his soul. If we just grow quiet before one of his paintings, within a few moments we will hear a sound as if coming from an invisible depth, gradually joined by other instruments, and by the time we realize it, we will be hearing music dreamt in perfect beauty and harmony soaring in the air. At the same time, while contemplating his works, to our amazement we will find that what we see is none other than most marvellous poetry. - Dr Ferenc Matits, Art historian (2015)

Sarah Lynch Australia
Untitled Color digital photograph 8 x 12 in. or 21 x 30 cm
Photographer Sarah Lynch surveys the land though rich, surreal colours and textures, with expansive and diverse vistas that explore the dialogue between land and light. Lynch captures distinctly otherworldly images, each piece seems hyper-real, displaying glassy waters or saturated skies in nature. Crisp geography and ambiance pervade each work, allowing the viewer to share in the scenery; a key part of the driving force for Lynch who creates the work with a hope that the viewer will see a beauty that surprises and enthralls them; an environmentalist Lynch hopes to connect the viewer with the earth to a deeper level. Her awe of nature is every present in the expansive ethereal landscapes.

Lucy O’Donovan United Kingdom
O’Donovan began to paint as a young girl and in adulthood developed a fascination with the sculptural aspect of oil paint - the texture, the color and the expressiveness of the medium to depict the shape, color and quality of flesh. Her work now is driven by her fascination with the human body and the feelings that this subject invokes. For her it is really important to portray the body in as honest a way as she can, irrespective of whether it would be considered classically beautiful or not.

Truth Oil on canvas 27 x 24 in. or 70 x 60 cm
Because of her knowledge of anatomy, she is intrigued by what lies beneath the skin: muscle, fat, tendons, connective tissue, bone, and joints. For her, the most expressive part of the body is the hands - she feels you can interpret a great deal about a person and the type of work they do by how their hands look.

James Pfeffer United States
Jim is an artist who loves anything to do with automotive design, illustration, fine art, models, memorabilia, preservation and just hanging out with people with a shared interest. As a kid in high school, he dreamed, illustrated and modeled cars so much so that he aspired to be a stylist and practiced designing his own creations getting inspiration from the Big Three auto manufacturers during the 1950s and early 1960s. Lacking the funds to go out of state to design college, the idea was shelved, but not forgotten. After spending a small amount of time majoring in Architecture and four years in the Air Force, the new college objective was to be a Fine Art major, which resulted in a BFA Degree from Baylor University, Waco Texas. Jim worked as an art director for several advertising agencies for eight years in Waco, Texas and as a self-employed illustrator for seventeen years in the Houston, Texas area. While self-employed, the idea, “to show how the automobile has influenced the American way of life, began to develop, and eventually lead to many of the watercolor projects shown on this site. Many of the projects are centered on the early Thunderbird, Jim drives a 1956, as a result of an undying love for the little Fords from an early age prior to college on to present day.

Although he lived and grew up in New York City, he has spent many summers in the Greek islands and has traveled to many other places in the world. He continues to travel extensively in pursuit of the perfect photographic image. During each journey, with camera in hand, he records much of what he sees, sharing the impression of his mind’s eye through composition, light play, and shape and design. His photographic portfolio is diverse: it includes landscape, architecture, portrait, flora and fauna, underwater, and street photography. He has recently brought his portfolio to the public eye and, in short order, has had dozens of his photographs juried and invited into exhibition at many galleries and museums through the United States, receiving many awards for this work along the way. He has won awards in international competitions in Moscow, London and Tokyo, a featured artist at major art shows at Art San Diego, Spectrum Miami, Artexpo New York, has private gallery placements in Vienna, Austria and Bologna, Italy, as well as being a featured gallery fine art photographer on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. He almost exclusively uses Leica cameras and lenses which yield superior results for him. He has recently also added a Hasselblad medium format camera to his bag.

“The growth of all things in the universe is a process of continuous separation and joining from a minute granule in an area full of the energy of harmony. Their life is sometimes clear, sometimes blurred, growing or fading, forming or transforming into emptiness. They include all tangible and intangible life forms, mountains, seas, air, cloud plants and animals, that, in numerous unique forms, circulate in the long river of life, nurtured by the earth, quietly emitting energy and silently oozing vitality. This art series of “The Beginning of Life” is the first collection of my “Life” painting series. These artworks had left a large space of blank and only use pure colors.”

Heavenly Contrasts, 2016 Acrylic on canvas 39 x 39 in. or 100 x 100 cm Volcano, 2016 Acrylic on canvas 39 x 39 in. or 100 x 100 cm

He has exhibited around the Netherlands, in New York, Las Vegas, Lisbon, Turin and hotels in Europe and Asia. His paintings are published in several art books and magazines. He is an enthusiastic participant in art-gallery “PS20” in Apeldoorn”. “My art started with photography and my love for travel. While traveling, I would photograph everything that I saw, focusing on the composition of the image. During the past four years in Apeldoorn, I have been introduced to a variety of artistic endeavours and found myself experimenting with abstract painting. I would now consider myself to be purely an abstract painter..
Breathtaking, 2015 Acrylic on canvas 27 x 39 in. or 70 x 100 cm
My inspiration is the people I meet, the images I see, and the emotions that I feel while travelling. My work is the result of my desire to understand people. Full of colour, depth, and sometimes a bit mysterious, my paintings always come from the heart and show who I am and what I love in life.”
