Businesses Have Leeway

AMID SEEMINGLY CONFLICTING COVID-19 RULES

When elephants fight, as the old African adage goes, it’s the grass that suffers. Businesses and their patrons in the city of Lauderhill and other parts of the state can probably relate when it comes to government mandates regarding masks and social distancing. Counties and local municipalities have established clear safety rules to curb the spread of the coronavirus, and now the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believe fully vaccinated people can largely take off their masks. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has gone further. He recently issued an executive order suspending all local COVID-19 restrictions and mandates. The result? A confusing moment as businesses are left to decide the best course of action as society returns to normalcy in a post-pandemic world. The new period of seemingly conflicting rules still leaves businesses with enough wiggle room to take the pulse of their customers when it comes to their own COVID-19 policies. Many businesses in South Florida are keeping their mask policies, in hopes that a little common sense and patience will keep everyone safe during this time of transition.
