Friendly volunteers at the Melbourne Visitor Booth provide free maps and information on shopping, attractions and events in Melbourne. Open daily from 9am to 5pm (closed Good Friday and Christmas Day).

City Ambassadors

Dressed in their distinctive red uniforms, City Ambassadors provide a mobile information service in the city with information on shopping, events and how to get around. Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm, Sunday noon to 3pm (excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day).

Melbourne Greeter Service

Free multilingual walking orientations of the city, conducted by trained volunteers. Orientations are conducted in English daily at 9.30am from the Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square (excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day). Bookings are essential, phone 9658 9658 on weekdays and 9658 9942 on weekends or visit melbourne.vic.gov.au/greeter.

myki is Melbourne’s ticketing system. Public transport travel is simple to use in Melbourne as your ticket gives you the flexibility to travel on trains, trams and buses all around Melbourne. You can buy and top up a myki at: • all metropolitan Premium Stations, myki machines (full fare card sales only) located at all metropolitan train stations and selected accessible tram stops and bus interchanges. • any 7-Eleven store or independent retailer where you see the myki sign. • the PTV Hub at Southern Cross Station.
