What is the difference between Cabo and Los Cabos?
A common mistake is to use both names interchangeably. Los Cabos is a municipality that includes the town of San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, often just called "Cabo"(and what is the difference between the two? One is historical and the other one is hysterical!). The coastline between the two is called “El Corredor”.
What are the top activities in Los Cabos?
There is something for everyone in Los Cabos. Snorkeling, scuba diving, stand-up paddle and surfing are only some of the popular ones. There’s also fun in the desert! Don’t miss out on zip-lines, ATV tours and more by booking a guided tour. If you want to kick back and relax, Cabo has some of the most luxurious spas. Of course, wining and dining is among the favorite activities and the nightlife is always bustling!
Is Cabo safe?
As safe as it gets! Like everywhere else in the world, it's important you trust your instinct and make your personal safety your top priority. However every year thousands of people from all over the world travel safely to Los Cabos.
Where is the nearest airport?
There is one in San Jose del Cabo, The Los Cabos International Airport, and it is the sixth-busiest airport in Mexico! There is a small international airfield located 4.5 miles northwest of Cabo San Lucas.
Can I drink the water in Cabo?
Don’t do it! We wouldn't recommend you drink the tap water in Cabo. Ask for bottled water, better safe than sorry!
What is the exchange rate?
The exchange rate might change from establishment to establishment but scan this code to check out the official exchange rate in real time!

PLAYA BALANDRA
Balandra Beach is a stunning bay in La Paz that will take your breath away. The white powder-like sand and shallow water create dreamy turquoise colors that delight the eye as far as you can see. It is a kayaker's paradise; not only can you cruise to the reefs across the bay for an unforgettable snorkeling experience, but you can also explore the mangroves on the left side of the bay. The water is very shallow in most of the bay, so you can also simply walk around and explore by foot.
Location: About two hours from Cabo San Lucas. We recommend entering it into your phone or car's GPS for directions.
Tips: Try to shuffle your feet in the sand while in the water because many stingrays call this bay their home (lucky guys!) and the shuffling sends them away.
PLAYA CERRITOS
Switch it up by exploring the Pacific Ocean side of Los Cabos. Cerritos Beach is usually a few degrees cooler than the Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo beaches, the sand is finer and darker in color, and it might remind you of a Southern California beach. It's a popular surf spot and you can rent a boogie board or surf board and even take a surf lesson as there are a few surf schools on the beach.
Location: Head north for about 45 minutes on HWY 19 from Cabo San Lucas towards Todos Santos and exit at km. 66. Watch the markers and look for the signs.
Tips: Come prepared with food, drinks and beach gear. The ocean currents are strong and the waves can be powerful, so please swim with caution. Visit the charming town of Todos Santos before or after your Cerritos beach day
PLAYA CHILENO
This is a great beach for swimming due to its calm waters, and its beautiful reefs offer excellent snorkeling and scuba diving. Public restrooms and showers are available, as well as a handicap ramp that takes you right to the beach.
Location: Follow the signs for PLAYA EL CHILENO near Km. 14 of HWY 1.
Tips: Snorkeling visibility is often better in the early mornings and you’ll avoid the mid-day snorkel tours. Bring snorkeling gear and shade!
PLAYA MÉDANO
This swimmable and family friendly beach has numerous activities and water sports available, such as jet skis, parasailing, flyboarding, stand-up paddling, and more. The stunning view of Land’s End and the vast entertainment options make this beach a must-see.
Location: In the heart of downtown Cabo San Lucas.
Tips: Be prepared to be approached by a lot of souvenir vendors. If you’re not there for the shopping, just respond with “No gracias.”
PLAYA DEL AMOR
Known to visitors as Lover's Beach, this beautiful staple of Cabo San Lucas is only reachable by boat, kayak or any other water vessel. The easiest way to get there is to take a water taxi from the Cabo San Lucas Marina or from Medano Beach. On the other side of the rocks you’ll find yourself looking at the Pacific Ocean where it’s very dangerous to swim.
Location: Land’s End beside the famous Cabo San Lucas arch.
Tips: You won’t find any services. Walk along the Marina or Medano Beach to find a water taxi.

PLAYA Santa Maria
Santa Maria Beach is a stunning horseshoe cove with unique coarse coral colored sand and abundant marine life. Arrive early to beat the tour boats if you're planning on Snorkeling. Palapas are available for some much needed shade, so arrive early in order to get one before they are all taken.
Location: Follow the signs which read PLAYA SANTA MARIA and exit at Km. 13 of HWY 1. Follow the dirt road until you reach the parking area.
Tips: Swim from the shore towards the rocks on the right or left side of the beach for a great snorkeling experience. Bring snorkeling gear!
PLAYA VIUDAS
Near Cabo San Lucas lies this place of peace and beauty, walking across the shore you’ll find rock formations that create a espectacle as the waves break on them. Even if this makes for a less than ideal place to swim, it creates an atmosphere of magic and relaxation that makes you want to stay the whole day.
Location: Playa Las Viudas is located at km 11.5 along the Tourist Corridor and is accessed by a dirt road that continues for just under a half-mile toward the ocean.
Tips: Las Viudas is a small beach and doesn't have many amenities so make sure to arrive early and prepare everything you may need.
PLAYA PALMILLA
Palmilla Beach is known for its family friendly calm waters and mile-long stretch of beach. You will find yourself surrounded by oceanfront luxury homes and the exclusive One&Only Hotel. You won't find water sport rentals such as kayaks or jet skis. The beach area on the left is roped off with buoys for safe swimming, and the area on the right has tide pools and rocks that you can explore.
Location: Take the PALMILLA ramp exit at km. 27 and turn into the residential community (towards the ocean). You will wind down until you arrive to the beach entrance located on the left side, in front of the Del Mar community gate. If you reach the One&Only Hotel you have gone too far.
Tips: Palmilla Beach is popular among local families on the weekends, so arrive early if you want a palapa.

STAND UP PADDLING

bungee jumping and ziplines
There is something special about paddling out and finding yourself floating in the ocean with just a paddle and a board. Stand up paddling is a great way to see marine life and to get a great workout and while enjoying nature. At Medano beach you can rent boards in several locations.
Prepare yourself for an incredible show of nature as you swim side by side with colourful schools of fish, eels, rays, octopus, sea turtles and more. The Sea of Cortez or the “Aquarium of the World” offers many opportunities to experience incredible underwater wildlife.
fly boarding
Dreams can come true in Cabo! The FlyBoard is a device connected and powered by a personal watercraft, which allows propulsion underwater and in the air. Users are connected to the board by wakeboard boots, under which, water pressure provides thrust. A certified trainer controls the power.
This sport is most popular in the East Cape due to the El Norte winds. Playa Norte (the north-east side of the beach) in Los Barriles is said to be the most popular destination and is also the location for a professional kiteboarding school.
boating and fishing
Get ready to shout “Geronimo!” as you leap off a platform in one of the most extreme outings! Several local adventure-parks provide bungee jumping packages and high speed zipline canopy tours are offered in a number of local canyons.
surfing
With calm waters, extraordinary fishing and perfect weather, some may argue that boating is the most popular attraction in Los Cabos. Whether you want to take a cruise to Santa María Bay on a luxury yacht or wake up at the crack of dawn for a fishing adventure, there are endless options to fit your needs.
Baja Sur has been a popular surfing destination since the ‘50s. The East Cape is popular for kite surfing and the Pacific coast has several surf breaks where you will find less crowds. See our Baja Sur map to locate the surf spots all around the Baja.

the magic of sound healing
By M.P. Bulnes
Our bodies are museums of memories. We hold onto our happiest memories to revisit over and over again, from the birth of a child, to their first steps, graduations, weddings and everything in between. These memories give our lives purpose. It’s what being human is all about.
However, there can't be light without darkness, and our bodies also store the not so happy memories. These are the ones we often don't talk about and keep locked up in a drawer. Whether you are beginning a new chapter, overcoming a difficult situation or dealing with trauma, becoming aware of your emotions is a challenging but rewarding first step.
We spoke to Paola Calderon, a certified sound healing therapist, about the way our bodies store emotions and how to liberate them. Sound healing is a holistic practice that uses sound waves to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The practice dates back to ancient times, when people used instruments like drums, gongs, and singing bowls to create vibrations that would resonate with the body and mind.
One way that sound healing can be used is to address trauma. When someone goes through a traumatic event, their body responds to the perceived threat by releasing a surge of stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. We go into fight or flight mode, which can lead to changes in the way the body responds to stress. Depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders are also common consequences and can have a profound impact on physical health.
“Stagnant emotions manifest themselves in funny ways” Paola said “Sometimes knee pain isn’t knee pain but anger stuck in the body. The same goes with back pain, throat problems or digestive issues. Our physical health has a lot to do with emotions and the way we process them.”
Paola discovered sound healing on her personal healing journey and found it so helpful that she decided to become certified in order to share the magic. This is a particularly beneficial type of therapy because all you have to do is let your body do the talking. You start by setting an intention for the session, such as promoting relaxation or addressing a specific physical or emotional issue. Paola guides you through a meditation to help you get in a mindful state by playing the singing bowls, sometimes placing them on you to help the vibrations reach the feelings that are stuck in your body.
The path towards healing can be different for everyone. According to Paola, sound healing can be used to help people who have experienced trauma to process their emotions and to understand their experiences in a new way. By listening to soothing sounds and allowing themselves to be guided by the music, people can gain a new perspective on their trauma and can begin to see their experiences in a more positive light.
The trick is consistency. “Sometimes I’ll lead sessions for large groups and it's a great experience. Everyone leaves relaxed and happy! However, there’s nothing like consistent one-on-one sessions to tackle the bigger issues” Paola said. “That’s the best way to figure out what emotion is stuck where and to really work to liberate it.”
This type of therapy, she added, allows you to go within, cherish the light in your life as well as the darkness by learning to feel the difficult emotions, recognize them and let them go. All you have to do is have an open mind. Give it a try and let the sound heal you.

THE BENEFITS OF GOLF
The award winning courses that decorate Baja attract thousands of players year-round. When it comes to playing golf, Los Cabos offers a unique experience. Whether it's the fresh air, clear skies or stunning landscapes, those are only a few of the perks of packing your clubs and bringing them here. It’s no secret being outdoors does wonders for your health!
Playing golf requires discipline, challenges you and builds character, which are only a few of the reasons why this sport is so gratifying. There's a Swedish study that found that golfers have an increase in life expectancy of five years! However, it goes beyond your physical wellbeing.
Did you know playing golf is also a great way to improve your mental health? Not only does it force players away from their phones and on to the courses, which is a great start, but it is also incredibly therapeutic! Here are the main reasons why playing golf will make you happier:
LET’S TALK ABOUT ANXIETY
Anxiety is incredibly common! According to the National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety disorders in adults are seen in 22.3 percent of those aged 18–29 and 22.7 percent of people ages 30–44. Physical activity is proven to help with depression. Furthermore, by improving your confidence and boosting your self-esteem, golf can help reduce anxiety. It’s a great way to get outside and clear your mind!
ABOUT SOCIALIZING
Social interaction is crucial for a happy life and is required to play. Golf allows people of all ages and skills to play together in the same foursome. So many business deals, core memories and even love stories have begun on a golf course. Socializing generates dopamine, which is why it's great for your mental health. A simple handshake can go a long way!
A FORM OF THERAPY
Because it requires so much concentration, silence and discipline, golf is considered to be quite therapeutic. There are studies that have found just how much of a positive influence on health and social well-being golf can be. Golf can be frustrating at times. If you miss a putt or land in the sand trap time after time you can either let your feelings get the best of you or let it be a learning experience, leave your mistakes in the past and focus on the next step. Golf is all about mindfulness!
LOWER STRESS
Stress is a silent killer! Practicing a “green exercise”, which means getting exercise outdoors, is known to help you sleep better, lower your blood pressure and boost your creative thinking! Connecting with nature is guaranteed to lower your stress levels.
Whether you hit the courses to improve your game or your mental health, it is a wonderful sport that offers an incredible amount of benefits! Pack your clubs and don’t miss out an opportunity to play in one of the many amazing golf courses Cabo has to offer!

oreto is a municipality of Baja California Sur. It can be found about 510 kilometers (315 miles) northeast of Cabo San Lucas. That’s under six hours of a shimmering road trip on the Transpeninsular highway number 1, before the beautiful town opens to you with its protective mountains, its colonial buildings, its coastlines and its warm hospitality. The latter being the backbone of the economy of this town since it lives off tourism, and it does so by making you feel right at home. It’s not just the fact that this is an emblematic destination of great importance for its scenic attractions, it’s also the highly trained personnel you’ll find often in the best lodging and eating spots; the people of Loreto love to share the beauty of their city with those who come to enjoy it, all the way from local vendors to the taxi drivers. And if what makes tourism thrive so easily in this town, it’s not that the people that you meet are friendly, helpful and eager to share their culture with you; it’s the uniqueness of its historic heritage.
Loreto is recognized as a Pueblo Mágico, or a “Magical Town”. This is a program developed by the Ministry of Tourism of Mexico and other government agencies, to recognize the cities and towns in the Country that deserve protection and preservation of their cultural wealth.
Loreto offers many natural and architectural landmarks that are still standing, and that function as constant opportunities to learn why this small beach town is more than meets the eye.
Historians believe that Loreto is the oldest human settlement in the Californias, and estimations suspect that people began living here sometime over 12,000 years ago. It was known as Conchó (red mangrove) by the native nations that first inhabited it, and excursions to the mountains are available for the travelers that are
interested in witnessing some of the rock paintings and petroglyphs that were created by its habitants around three thousand years ago, and that are now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The name changed when Jesuit missionaries found the territory and founded the Mission of Nuestra Señora de Loreto back in 1697. That’s more than 300 years ago! It then became the “Head and Mother of the Missions of Bajas and Altas Californias”, as one can still read in the original temple that, after a few renovations throughout the years, is still a jewel in the historical center of the town. A visit to the mission of San Javier is a must! It is like traveling back in time to one of the original missions that settled next to a spring of water: essential for agriculture and raising cattle. Another recommendation that matches the small-town lifestyle with the adventurous spirit of many locals and visitors alike, is a hike to the magnificent Sierra de la Giganta. It guards the town on the west, and you can hire a local guide to walk you over while they teach you about the wildlife and the environment that makes the city up. Allow yourself to be surprised with waterfalls, pools of water, unique flora and fauna and its ocher tones that change with the caress of the sun as it moves through the mountain along the day.
In 1996, the Loreto Bay National Marine Park was established. It protects approximately 2,000 square kilometers of the Sea of Cortez and the Loreto Islands, and contains more than 800 species of fish and marine life (including several endangered species), almost 700 vascular plant species, 39% of the marine mammals in the world, and one third of the planet’s marine cetacean species, making it the biologically richest body of water on Earth. So much so that the famous explorer, Jaques Cousteau, dubbed it “the aquarium of the world”. A
nickname that has stuck since the 1940s.
The importance of the gulf of California is reflected in the creation of this National Marine Park, a now vital institution for keeping safe and sound the wonders of Loreto’s sea.
There are a variety of tours in town that will help you explore –in a responsible manner, of course– Loreto’s highlands, coasts and seas with opportunities to enjoy activities such as paddle boarding, whale watching, kayaking, snorkeling, sport fishing, and island hopping. During these activities, keep your eyes open for all the natural flora and fauna in the park.
The five main islands within the protected marine area can offer unique and very diverse experiences that range from walking historic sites preserved through time to the joy of exploring stunning natural untouched spots.
Danzante Island, for example, is a tiny yet magnificent island of only four-square kilometers long. This small island has cliffs that go as high as 150 meters that end up preventing boats from docking, so it became an untouched paradise for sea lions, and a wide variety of fish and aquatic birds to thrive unthreatened by civilization. It is a great place to practice scuba diving and kayaking.
Danzante is also home to one of the brilliant, awardwinning, multi-themed 18-hole golf course that runs over and through valleys, arroyos, dunes, and foothills. It is considered one of the best golf courses in the world and it was designed by Rees Jones. The remarkable golf course is enveloped in panoramic vistas that show off the natural beauty of the region. From every angle, striking images of the Islands of Loreto and the surrounding Sierra de la Giganta mountain range take your breath away, while the challenging, yet rewarding Baja golf course beckons you to return for more.
L 18
You can also arrange a tour to Coronado Island. The waters here are as clear and calm as they come, and if you take a trip around it, you can spend the entirety of it finding amazing volcanic formations along the shores. Del Carmen Island still holds some houses, one school, a burial ground, sports facilities, warehouses, and other vestiges from when the island was the largest salt mine of natural origin in the world. A one-day tour will absolutely satisfy the historical itch, but if you’re one for adventure, the corners of the rocks, the mountains and the beaches of this island are so vast that you can keep on exploring them for days. If you want to camp there make sure you get permission to do so!
Montserrat and Santa Catalina are two of the less visited islands, which makes them perfect for those looking for isolated hikes, swims and rests. They also have amazing panoramic views to admire the entirety of Loreto. And as if this were not enough, all of the above are the islands you go to from January to March for whale watching. It’s the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez that make them perfect for the whales to travel over 9,656 kilometers to give birth. And for us to stand by on our boats and witness them frolicking. Last but absolutely not least, we need to talk about the food. Baja Cuisine is famously delicious, fresh and diverse. But the menu in Loreto is exquisite, with many local ingredients. Bear in mind that it is far from any of the big cities in Baja, so most chefs grow their own seasonings and use local fruits, vegetables, meats and seafood. The delicious roasted almejas chocolatas are the local dish that you can’t miss since you won’t find them any other place.
There are so many other incredible sights. Yes, this town has its own international airport. Yes, the climate is dry semi-arid with little rain in summer and average temperatures of 23º C. Yes, the flora is very abundant and is mainly made up of copal, biznagas, red and white mangrove, palo verde and pitaya. But the truth is, there’s nothing like an actual visit. Nothing like coming over, standing on the white soft sands, admiring the shades of turquoises and blues in the water, and taking home with you some of the magic that this abundant generous town has always had to offer to its visitors.
WHEN TO VISIT LORETO
Thinking about visiting Loreto? Check out this short weather guide! The average temperature is 76-96 degrees year round. Although rain is rare, there is a small rainy season in Loreto in August and September. Loreto is usually warm all year long, however there are different ideal seasons for different activities.
BEST OVERALL Best time for swimming Best time for whale watching Best time for land activities
Skies are blue, the weather is warm but not scalding, no wind and the water is crystal clear in the months of May and October.
You can spot humpacks, orcas, grey and blue whales starting in January, all the way through March. You can’t miss out on this incredible season!
Summer season is ideal for water activities. From June to November, you can enjoy pleasant water temperatures!
Winter Season, December-March
Highs are usually in the 70's with lows in the 50's during the winter, making for great weather for hiking, enjoying the town, and land excursions.

Baja California Sur: A Wellness Sanctuary
An Interview with Adriana Tello de Meneses
Hidden in the desert valleys under the towering peaks of the Sierra de la Giganta; near Loreto lies a sanctuary. Inspired and emboldened by the minerals that give the nearby mountains their unique color, Sabila Spa by Danzante Bay welcomes guests from all over the world to offer them a unique wellness experience quite unlike anything seen elsewhere. What makes this wellness center so special? To find out, we spoke to Adriana Tello de Meneses, the spa’s director who has had a long and successful career in the hospitality and wellness industry. According to her, it’s all about slowing down, being mindful, and enjoying all the incredible ways Baja helps you take care of yourself.
Adriana began the interview by talking about how much she loves her job. Her career started about 25 years ago, back when you could count the number of spas in Baja with one hand. After getting certified in Los Angeles, she and a friend began managing and operating wellness centers across Los Cabos, which eventually led her to do the same for a world-renowned hotel chain. While working there she had the opportunity to open wellness centers for the hotel’s different branches, which included everything from creating the menu, recruiting staff, making sure the experience was perfect, and handling the inauguration. With so much experience under her belt, when she eventually arrived in Loreto, it was with a vision.
Loreto is a place that puts great importance on wellness. Its community is incredibly protective of its flora and fauna, and developers have been very careful to protect the area’s natural beauty as well. Conserving Loreto’s natural vistas and ecology is at the very top of everyone’s list. Energetically speaking, with the Sierra de la Giganta on one side and the Sea of Cortez on the other, Loreto’s location is truly privileged. The scenery is breathtaking. Its history is as alive as ever, with missions and aging belltowers that have witnessed the convergence of prehispanic and contemporary cultures since the town’s first moments until today. This is where we set the scene and the story begins; a story about stories. Loreto is a land destined to be explored, protected and enjoyed. What makes a spa a sanctuary? You might not notice first-hand all the elements at work when you arrive in a spa and immediately feel better, but Adriana let us in on the secret. “You must attack all five senses,” she said.
Beginning with sight, a spa’s aesthetic must be pristine and harmonious. The scent is strategic and must transport you to a state of relaxation. Everything you touch must feel good, from the cushions and the seats to the robes and slippers. High frequency and soothing music set the mood as you are greeted with tea or chlorophyll water that will awaken your taste buds. All of this is to lower your heart rate and prepare you for your wellness journey.
Adriana explains that there is also a secret sixth sense. Her special ingredient that makes Sabila Spa a very special place: human connection. Her staff is not only well trained and certified to give professional therapies, they are also experts in connecting with the guests to give them personalized attention and treatments. This might seem simple but it makes a huge difference, as everyone who walks in has different needs. Some guests are just looking for a relaxing experience, while others have more complex needs and look for help with broken hearts, grief or even terminal illnesses. A therapist’s eye must be well-trained to spot these needs, and they must have the capacity to connect on a human level to make sure those needs are addressed.
Mexico, and specifically Baja, is an important place to work on your wellbeing. Adriana spoke about the wisdom passed on from generation to generation. “When we were kids and we had tummy aches, what would grandmothers do? Rub our belly and give us herbs!” she shared. She added that what makes Mexican culture so special is not only how warm and welcoming it is, but also its willingness to share everything from recipes to remedies. Baja California Sur is privileged, our location is unlike anywhere else in the world. The desert landscape might seem desolate and monochromatic sometimes, but give it a little water and watch how verdant and alive it becomes. On one side we have the Sea of Cortez, the world’s aquarium, and on the other the Pacific Ocean, with an energy that is impossible to match. There are herbs that are endemic to this land, and with them comes the ancestral knowledge of how to use these gifts to help our bodies feel good. This combination makes Baja the perfect spot to slow down, go within, and receive positive energy to start over.
Adriana went on to remind us of the importance of slowing down. “Sometimes life feels like the ocean, with one wave after another stirring our day-to-day life.
It gets hectic!” She said “Taking time to unwind and regroup helps us deal with our emotions and to be less reactive when it comes to making decisions. When you’re at peace you start noticing the small things that make us happy and that is what feeds our soul!”
A Wellness experience goes beyond a day at the spa. Society and “hustle culture” has trained us to believe that if you’re not in constant movement and making money, you’re failing, which leads to a world filled with overworked and overstressed people. Adriana urges us to stop and smell the roses. “A home-cooked meal made with love and the ritual of sitting down and eating without screens is a wellness experience,” she said, “playing golf and learning to be patient on the course, doing yoga and moving our bodies; all of these things lead to our wellbeing. Being in nature! Even a whale-watching tour and allowing nature to connect with you, as whales do when they show you their baby whales, is how Baja offers such a well-rounded, spectacular wellness experience!” Adriana added. Taking care of yourself has many faces and more than a luxury, it is a necessity.
What does the future of the wellness industry look like? Adriana Tello de Meneses’ philosophy is unique. “We are going back to our roots,” she said. One of the reasons she is so passionate about her job is the opportunity to innovate. After travelling the world opening spas, she’s found herself in this sanctuary of wellness called Baja in search of new ways to feel better. Searching for a middle ground between traditional oriental medicine, ayurvedic practices and Mexican ancestral remedies, the resulting fusion is what makes Sabila Spa the top-tier wellness center that it is. They are in constant motion, searching for caves for ceremonies and perfect spots for sound healing sessions among other experiences.
“The universe has allowed me to give services that heal, and it is so gratifying it doesn’t feel like a job!” Adriana said. Her perspective on wellness is an important part of the story of this industry in our beautiful destination. When it comes to running a spa, her favourite part is getting to see how the guest’s faces change on their way out. Some want to spend the day in a relaxing environment, others look for specific treatments and many are in a never-ending search for wellness. No matter what you’re looking for, Adriana and everyone else at Sabila Spa are ready to receive you with open arms and a smile, offering a wonderful space, services, and treatments that are at the forefront and a staff that is trained to make you feel your best, as you embark on the first day of the rest of your life.
THE INTERVIEW THE INTERVIEW 20
In retrospect, this past year was an opportunity for business growth and triumphs that began with the debut of the Fall - Winter 2022 collection throughout the New York Fashion Show Week.
In May, Indira & Isidro were also present at the Miami Fashion Week, receiving an effusive mention from Vogue Mexico. These moments of enthusiastic support motivated them to replicate New York Fashion Week at their hometown in San Jose del Cabo in collaboration with businesswoman and friend Blanca Pedrin, the owner of Encanto Inn.
In September, they returned to New York Fashion Week with new collections. That generated praise in the national and international press: "México es Plata y lo llevamos en la Piel" and "Sueño de Colibrí.”
According to Indira López & Isidro Sánchez, "We experience and welcome professional growth by working with new techniques, materials, and processes. They are creative challenges that give you satisfaction."
For Indira and Isidro, each piece has an interpretation inspired by their philosophy to design with a historical Mexican essence that provokes a dialogue.
It is worth visiting Indira & Isidro to experience the visual artistry of their jewelry and atelier in San José del Cabo. Who knows? You may be fortunate to leave with one of their uniquely beautiful pieces.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SOUTHERN BAJA 21
The Baja Bubble
by Samantha Buckley Hugessen
So, you’ve decided to make Cabo your home. You fell in love with the weather, the people, the food, the landscape and everything else this amazing region has to offer. As a recurring visitor of more than twenty-five years and an expat of fifteen, I get it! I’ve been living the dream and working as a professional Life Coach to help others live their dreams. Los Cabos is known for its beautiful beaches, luxurious hotels and slow-paced vacation lifestyle. It is also known as a party mecca!
Welcome to the Baja Bubble! Toes in the sand and drinks in hand; we moved to Baja for the fresh air, incredible food, culture, peace and hospitality. However, it’s easy to get swept up in that partying vacation kind of mindset, where we tend to drink alcohol in excess, lay in the sun all day, stay up late at the bars and restaurants before heading to bed and then doing it all again. Partying all the time will wear you down physically and emotionally. But man, it does feel good to escape the daily grind, doesn’t it? Beware, Cabo can lose its charm if you don’t have your health and wellbeing at the forefront.
Its humbling to look back and compare. Something my husband and I enjoy is tuning in to northern broadcasts and seeing weather reports of rain, snow or sleet while we enjoy the rays in the land of eternal sunshine. It really makes you think. These are some of the reasons why we uprooted our lives and moved here. We get to watch football games on Sunday afternoons and feel just a little more connected to our former lives. We also watch the news and notice the struggles and divisiveness we were so used to before moving to paradise. The grind, crime and gridlock that lead to the loss of our most precious resources: time and health. Migrating to Cabo was the right choice, but how does one find balance?
If you are considering or have already relocated permanently to Baja, let me make the transition even easier for you. Vacationing here and living here full time are two very different things. Trust me! I made the mistake of thinking otherwise back in 2007 when we decided to move. You are no longer in the U.S. or in Canada.
You are in Mexico and Mexican time is a thing! The sooner you embrace that fact, the happier you will be. Although Baja is ideal for slowing down, deciding to implement a routine, however loose or strict as you’d like it to be, will help you adapt and love your new Mexican life even more. It is common for retired people to go a little crazy without a routine and purpose.
Try out new activities that feed the mind, body, and soul. There are plenty of options to choose from; Join a gym, learn breathing healing, meditation, or yoga. Pickleball is big here as well. Find a group of like-minded people. If you’re looking for a meet-up group for professional women “The Women in Business Network and Community” is available, as are various other meet-ups you will find on social media. All over Southern Baja there are opportunities to give your time and resources to a good cause. Consider how you can use your unique talents to help the community! The opportunities to work in and with charities are endless. Just a few of the charities that mean a lot to us down here include Sarahuaro, P.E.T Animal Rescue, The Bomberos (Fire Department), Los Cabos Children's Foundation and Amigos de Los Niños. There are also church services if you are into that, check out Beach church, Los Cabos English Church, LDS, and the numerous Catholic churches and places of worship.
Another great way to immerse yourself in the culture is to take some Spanish classes! Even though most locals speak English, learning the language makes a huge difference in your experience and the locals love your effort. You can find a variety of other classes too, from cooking to horticulture, painting, potting and the list goes on and on. Maybe even start a small business and create jobs for locals.
We welcome you to beautiful southern Baja and encourage you to contribute to your newly adopted home and take good care of yourself at the same time.

Share The Blessings: Buy a Home, Give a Home
By Dana Gimenez
Construction in Cabo is booming! It’s no secret that Cabo is a premier destination to find your forever home, and as COVID restrictions have slowly lifted across the world, real estate developers have gotten the green light to help make people’s dreams a reality.
The reasons why the market is bustling vary. From increasing local safety, to lower property taxes, to once-in-a-lifetime investment opportunities, there are plenty of reasons to call Cabo home. Through it all, however, one consistent truth remains: people want to live here.
Having the beach minutes away isn't the only benefit Los Cabos provides. High growth rates in the real estate business have led to significant changes to the land and to the community. Real estate is often a ruthless business where money is the main, if not only, incentive. Companies tend to sweep their community's needs under the rug for better margins.
It's because of that ruthless mentality that the local Cabo community pays attention when a proposal breaks the mold, shifting focus from a purely economic motivation back onto a more important subject: creating a positive change in our community.
Ares Development Group just happens to have one such proposal. The company’s drive stems from human connections. They make sure their workers are well paid. They work under fair conditions. Their passion is to make their client’s dreams come true while giving back to the community. And with it, they hope to set the bar for a new age of human-oriented real estate development.
One of the greatest blessings in Cabo is the people who live here. Mexican hospitality is part of the culture, especially in Cabo San Lucas, where tourism is the main economic drive that leaves over three million visitors per year wanting more. So, in a city that imparts blessings to everyone who travels, invests, and settles down here, they are giving something back.
Their “Buy a Home, Give a Home” initiative was conceptualized by company president Jose Gomez Lozano, and is changing the future of Baja California Sur’s development industry.
The philosophy behind the initiative is simple. When you purchase a home in their Porto Novo development, Ares Group will work with the government to build a house for a local Cabo San Lucas family in your name! This provides families in need with not only a roof over their heads, but with a place of their own that they now can call home. Imagine sharing the joy of being a homeowner as you receive the keys to your new condo, knowing you are helping your new community!
Porto Novo is just one of the many projects Ares Development Group has in the works, with six condo buildings under construction along the Cabo Corridor in El Tezal, Cabo San Lucas. This new development will have 178 two- and three-bedroom condominiums, and with them each a new home being built for a local family built on land donated by the government in areas in need.
What’s more, not only will buyers be helping secure a family in need with a house of their own, but they will also deliver clients their very own dream homes. With innovative floor plans and high-end luxury interior designs that emulate Cabo's love of water, desert landscapes, and contemporary Baja chic design, putting the dream in a dream home. Couple that alongside gourmet kitchens with stainless steel appliances and ample indoor/outdoor living spaces perfect for hosting family and friends or relaxing, and Porto Novo becomes truly exceptional.
More important than that, however, is making a real local difference. The landscape is changing every day, and recently it only seems to be changing faster. By moving to Los Cabos and making paradise your new home, you are becoming a part of this change, and a part of this growth. The initiative with Porto Novo works with this change by going beyond simply focusing on luxury and those who can afford it. The company cares about doing things the right way because it is the right thing to do. And as simple as it sounds, caring for one another makes all the difference when it comes to giving back.
Ares Group is raising the bar for what a development group can be. Their passion for not only their clients but for their community is unmatched. Hopefully, this care for Cabo is only the start, and soon we’ll be able to see a new age of people-focused development. Until then, they continue to set the gold standard, and I for one can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Why Get a Home Inspection
by SOUTHERN BAJA HOME INSPECTIONS
Whether you’re buying or selling, having your home inspected is a crucial step in the decision making process. The purpose of having professionals inspect your home is to examine the building and to evaluate the conditions of the components.
It’s all about performance
A house is made up of various systems, from plumbing to electricity and everything in between. How can you be sure all of them are working properly? Many errors can occur without you finding out, which is why it is important a home inspector determines whether systems are performing their intended functions.
It can be cheaper in the long run
A home inspection is an investment. Why? Simply because a minor problem detected and fixed on time can save you a lot of money. The simplest of details can turn into huge complications if they go on undetected for too long. A leak, faulty circuits or cracked foundations can get a lot worse if you don’t resolve it on time. Find out before it gets more expensive!
When it rains it pours
Just because it doesn’t rain often in Cabo, doesn’t mean you can’t have water damage. Our hurricane season can be intense and once the skies have cleared it's important you assess if there’s been any serious damage since it can lead to structural issues, mold or electrical problems!
Safety first
We all let our guards down once we get home and unwind. However, how can you be so sure you are safe? You may think you know everything you need to know about your property but only an expert can give you the reassurance and peace of mind that everything is working as it should! That way, you can sleep peacefully in a safe home.
Transparency
When buying or selling a house, it's important all parties involved know what they’re getting into. From the seller’s point of view, it's important to know your property’s value whereas from a buyer’s, it’s crucial you know what you’re purchasing. A professional home inspection can provide you with the necessary means to help you sell or buy your home!

Highly Recommmended.
"I can say that my experiences with Southern Baja Home Inspections has been excellent. They have been there when I needed them and the inspection report is very through. More importantly, my clients have been alerted to unforeseen issues. With an easy to understand report, I have been able to work with the buyer and seller to come to terms and make some needed repairs. I highly recommend their services and will use them on my future dealings."

WHAT ARE THE
construction costs
BY FLETCHER WHEATON
IN CABO?
Construction costs have risen significantly since the pandemic due to rising material costs, supply chain issues, rising wages, and inflation. But have no fear, we will help you to understand the construction market entering 2023. One builder I work closely with told me his builds right now are usually between $160/ft2 and 250/ft2. If you are paying more than 250ft2, you might want to get another quote, unless you are going really high-end.
The cost of labor has almost doubled since the beginning of 2020. Labor costs are typically much less than in the United States, but this has been offset by the high demand for skilled labor. Most of the labor for large construction projects is sourced from mainland Mexico. These workers will typically come and work four months at a time. One construction company I was speaking with told me that their labor costs have skyrocketed since before the pandemic, and that competitors are luring workers away from other projects. Good construction companies will keep their workers happy by paying them on time and even providing meals and transportation.
One of the biggest headaches for construction is unnecessary delays. Quality builders that have a proven track record know how to keep the job moving. They take better care of their workers in this tight labor market. Considering the fact that most projects are going to be your only build in Baja, you don’t want to have a bad experience, and oftentimes, foreigners feel they don’t know the market very well before choosing a construction team. A buyer I worked with told me he received four construction bids all within 10% of each other. This gave him the confidence to know that he was getting good bids and could pick whichever builder he felt most comfortable with. Make sure you get at least three bids for construction unless you have experience in the market here.

A fantastic vacation can turn into a great business deal, a retirement plan, or a chance to have a second home. Which is why the real estate market has excelled in recent years, mainly in Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. If you are considering getting a property in Baja California Sur, be aware of the following recommendations to ensure your purchasing experience is as gratifying as the enchanting vacation that inspired you to invest.
KNOW THE TOOLS
Did you know buying a property here is safer than in any other state? Baja California Sur has protocols and institutions to buy and sell real estate unlike anywhere else in the country. Thanks to our proximity to the United States, thousands of real estate deals have forced legal entities to reinforce security in these transactions. There are tools such as MLS, Escrow, as well as closing and real estate agencies that have been created to overlook the real estate operations in Baja. Other useful tools you can use are the Search Title, in transactions related to lands, and the Inspection of the Property if the buildings are old. Professional specialists must perform both processes.
BUILD A TEAM
Speaking of professionals, assemble your team and seek the best advice to ensure that your experience is a breeze. Make sure they work with the tools mentioned above. Your real estate agent must be certified and have their listings on the MLS platform. Don’t forget to include a lawyer or closing agent to counsel you before and during the negotiation. By surrounding yourself with experts you are sure to make wonderful investments in paradise.
ASK QUESTIONS
There are no dumb questions! Ask your team of professionals anything you need to know. It is crucial you trust that your team will guide and inform you. Transparency is key! Once you know about the different tools and have assembled a team of professionals, the next step is being as well informed as possible. Do not hesitate to ask questions until everything is perfectly clear.
KNOW THE LAW
Mexican law is no joke. Although the process might be similar here to other countries, knowing the rules and regulations that apply in Mexico is very important. That way, there won’t be any surprises and your transaction will flow smoothly. Whether you’re buying or selling, having in mind these simple recommendations will help you enjoy the real estate opportunities Cabo has to offer!
