Arrival ,Appointments and Admission Guide TRANSFERS We have access to a fleet of vehicles and drivers who can collect you from the airport and transfer you from your hotel to hospital appointments. Transfers are included free of charge for Meditravel clients who book through our website. If your require transfers for travel companions on occasions when the actual client is not travelling with then then charges will apply to these transfers. They can be arranged on a fee for service basis at verycompetitive rates. If you require transport from the airport upon your arrival, please ensure that Meditravel is aware of your travel itinerary and a copy has been emailed prior to your actual departure. This then allows us to ensure that your transfers are all confirmed. If your flight is changed or significantly delayed, please let PIAC know this by calling + 66 76 249400 ext 3400 from outside of Thailand and on 076 249400 if calling from within Thailand. Alternatively you can email Meditravel or text the information through to 61+404 493105.

If you are unable to locate your concierge staff or driver, your flight has been significantly delayed or you are concerned about your transport arrangements, please call our public relations department on 076 249400 extension 1336 in the first instance. Public phones are available within the airport

You will be collected from your hotel by PIAC transport, they will generally collect you in your hotel lobby around 30 minutes before your appointment time

AIRPORT The airport has two arrival sections, a domestic and international. Both are located on the first floor (sometimes referred to as the ground floor). If you are an international passenger, your airline staff will guide you to proceed through immigration to baggage claim and then through customs into the northern end of the airport arrival hall. If you are a domestic arrival, you will proceed straight to baggage claim and enter the arrival hall at the southern end. Once in the arrival hall, ignore all taxi and transport touts and make your way to the Holiday Inn Hotel lounge. The Holiday Inn Hotel lounge is open from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM and staff will be waiting in this area outside of opening hours.

FASTING AND MEDICATIONS If you are or maybe scheduled for surgery, please ensure that you discontinue taking any aspirin and vitamins at least two weeks before your appointment date. If you are having surgery under a general anesthetic on your appointment date, please do not drink or eat for at least 8 hours before your confirmed appointment/surgery time. If you are on prescription medicationsyou must discuss this with your surgeon and advise them of your medical history. If you are unsure if you should cease taking any medication before your appointment or surgery, contact Meditravel for clarification

WHAT TO TAKE TO HOSPITAL Generally you should bring

All of your medication and/or pharmacy receipts, so medication and their doses can be verified

Passport or a valid ID for registration

Toiletries (toothpaste, soap etc) are usually provided by Hospital though you may want to bring your own personal favourites

Reading material or your IPod

Laptop computer. Internet access (Wi-Fi) is available and provided free of charge to all Meditravel clients

An adapter that can convert your electrical plug to fit into the Thai electrical outlets

Loose fitting and light clothing. PIAC will provide you with lightweight hospital garments to wear as nightwear

Compression garments suitable to your intended surgery. Unless essential, leave your jewellery at your hotel or at home as you will not be allowed to wear jewellery during your surgical procedure. Safe deposit boxes are available in your private hospital room, which you access with your own password. However the hospital or staff will not be responsible for any loss or damage

APPOINTMENTS You will have received a confirmed appointment in your information pack or emailed to you by your consultant. This treatment plan will set out all your transfers as well as Surgery requested including you scheduled appointment time. If you wish to change your appointment or pick up times,please confirm this directly with your Meditravel consultant prior to your departure. If you have arrived in thailand and wish to change your appointments or pick up times please contact the hospital directly Your treatment plan will have your pick up time from your hotel listed. This will be prior to your scheduled appointment time to allow sufficent time to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment time Your appointment is when you get to meet your surgeon for a face to face consultation. This is your chance to ask your surgeon all the questions you have in mind. You may want to bring photos that will aid in explaining what result you expect to have after the surgery. During this time you should also inform the surgeon about your medical history, previous surgeries and other pertinent health information. Surgery is only confirmed AFTER the consultation. An appointment date and surgery can be on the same day. Your surgery is pre-confirmed and scheduled prior to your arrival, however you are not committed to proceed until you personal confirm with your surgeon after your consult. Prior to surgery, it is in your interests to stop smoking at least 4 weeks before your surgery. You should not apply any lotions or makeup prior to surgery, unless agreed with your surgeon, this also includes any nail polish.


PAYMENTS Please be aware that all surgery/Dental is charged in Thai Baht. The hospitals requires payment in Thai Baht currency and payment in full is required upon admission and certainly before your surgery Clients may make foreign currency money transfer payments to the hospital at least two weeks prior to the appointment date. We have available a full Payment information sheet that is sent to clients or can be requsted with all the details required to make payments prior to your arrival. If making a money transfer through OzForex , clients will generally get a better rate of exchange then using credit cards. This way you will know upfront what the exchange rate for Thai Baht is and the actual Australian Dollar converted cost of your surgery. You also have the option to pay a depost and lock in an exchange rate and then pay the balance and have it transfered 2 weeks prior to your surgery. Visa, MasterCard and AMEX are accepted by most hospitals but they do not accept all debit cards. They also do not accept travelers or personal cheques. When using Credit Cards your banks interest and fees will apply.

PRE-SURGICAL TEST Pre-Surgical Tests are standard hospital procedures. Prior to surgery, your surgeon will require you to undergo laboratory and other examinations to ensure that you are fit for surgery. Additional diagnostic test can be requested by the surgeon on case to case basis

POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS It is imperative after surgery that you follow your surgeon’s instructions to avoid complications and ensure the best possible results from your procedure. Your specific instructions will vary depending on the surgery performed. However, there are some general post-operative care instructions to keep in mind. Following surgery, Hospital medical staff will also recommend that you avoid activities that could hinder the healing process, such as smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages.

You should not take any drugs containing aspirin, as they will increase bruising and may even cause internal bleeding. Your surgeon may have prescribed you Pain Relief these products may contain Codeine, an ingredient that can cause constipation. If you are taking Pain medication, it is important that you drink plenty of fluids and stay on a high fibre diet. You may also find a laxative such as Nulax to be suitable during this time. Your stitches will be removed a 7-10 days after surgery. To assist with the healing process and make scars less visible, You can purchase Hyper heal cream for scar recovery or Silicone sheeting that can greatly assist with scar recovery and minimizes the scars. Many patients become depressed during the transition period following surgery, as their bruises and scars have not yet healed. However, it is important that you stay positive during this time. This is where your support person will come in handy.
