SLOW DOWN Cycling + Walking Festival Slow Down you move too fast ‌. We all know walking + cycling is healthy, reduces traffic congestion, and lowers carbon emissions. Glasgow artist Jacqueline Donachie will create new work that is mobile, out on the streets and part of daily life together with the community of Huntly. There is talk of a safe bike lane, but who knows what it would look like? Her proposition is a community cycle drawing that might show us all. Using a smart attachment for cycle wheels, a ribbon of colour criss-crossing the town is created by the townsfolk and visitors. The necessary road and parking restrictions will perhaps begin a discussion about mobility and car use in our towns. This colourful community performance is part of a wider cycling and walking festival with story walks, cycling workshops, special trips and tracks, a symposium on car-free-towns and a solstice fire on top of the hill‌ Slow is beautiful!
