This is “Just Stevii and I look forward to helping you turn your dreams into reality by giving you practical steps to help you along your journey! Turning Dreams Into Reality

JUST STEVII The Journey of Life

Life is an incredible, remarkable, crazy, interesting journey. It is so cool to know that each and every day we are given the same thing and it is up to us to do something different with it. The thing that we are given is called time and the thing that we must do something different with is called opportunity. What will you do with your journey? What will you do with the seconds that we are blessed to have? Will you waste them away by watching reality TV? Or will you make your life interesting enough that you can be the TV star. Whether you want to be on TV or not doesn't matter. What matters is that you should always strive to live a life of significance. A life that is incredibly exciting. You are a catalyst of change in the world. It is important for you to conduct yourself as one. What are the steps that you can take to make the journey of live a powerful one? Here are some of my ideas. 1. Always read- The old saying that Reading Is Fundamental is absolutely true. When you read you open your mind to a whole new world of information that you may not have ever been exposed to if you had not picked up that book. Find books that speak about the industry that you are in. Expose yourself to the possibilities of becoming greater. 2. Surround Yourself with New PeopleYou cannot expect to grow and develop if you always stay in the same place. You must see new things, meet new people, and learn new

5|Diamond Diva

perspectives. You must see life from various views because that is the way that you can welcome new education into your life. 3. Change Your Mindset, Change Your LifeAll of us have been conditioned to think certain ways. Why? Because we normally follow the traditions that others have set forth for us. Think about it. What do you do in your life that your parents or grandparents have done in theirs? For example, do you cook the same way that your grandmother did? Do you wear your hair long, because your dad does not believe that women should have short hair? We all have learned behaviors; The key is making sure that you are always doing the things that make sense for your life, not for anyone else. Find out what is and isn't meaningful to you, then do that. Make everything in your life have a reason why you are doing it. If you do not have a

reason why, then do not do it. It must make sense for your life and who you are. We will continue to learn and develop as we continue our journey together. Begin working on the things that we have shared today. You deserve to live the best life possible. Also, remember to connect to the Shepreneur Status E-List. Date Book

Spring Cleaning - Cleaning u p & Cleaning out your Kimberly Knight

Spring is a season of new beginnings with sunny days and the fresh scent of budding flowers. It's a time of metamorphosis for many and kick starts the common spring cleaning rituals. However, do those same tasks of cleaning up and clearing out our bedroom closets apply to our dating life? During the holidays we have a tendency to reconnect with past love interests or start off the New Year with something new. Either way by the time we get to Spring, it's time to clean up the contacts list and clear out the social media pages. It's now time to rid yourself of broken promises, forgettable date nights or those that do you more harm than good. Let's talk about that process in more depth because it's more than just clicking a “delete” button. One must evaluate who should be deleted and why just to avoid the dreaded “oh no” moment of I can't believe I deleted them. Thanks to our trusty smart phones we can back-up pictures and contacts in the event our fingers accidently scroll the wrong direction. So take a deep breath and check your Google account for your contacts list. The best part about this process is your making room for something new to come into your life. Life's clutter may be just the root of why new interests are not occurring. When your holding on to those things you no longer need whether its clothing, shoes or in this case love interests you may be blocking a new blessing. My personal beliefs are you have to make room for what God has next by releasing your past. We don't forget the experiences we have endured but to press forward we have to keep the positive tools and let go of the negative obstacles. So what are you ready to let go of? For me I'm ready to move forward with accomplishing the vision God has placed in my heart almost a year ago. Becoming a HIV Activist was not easy and I realized when God gives you an assignment the pathway may not always be smooth, but He will open doors no man can shut. I had to clear out the negative voices that were against my calling and fill it with positive people who believed in my purpose. Prime example; I reached out to people who were already successful in the field in journalism or HIV Awareness. They are now my mentors and I'm able to call them friends. I also learned to be cordial with those that opinions of my new found career path were not as supportive. The beauty of Spring is it's a season of growth and when all things old become new it's a time to progress forward. As for dating I've decided to write a new chapter in my life on that as well. My marriage with my late husband taught me so much in a short period of time. Most of all it's given me insight to believe in love for a 2nd time around. So whether you're a single, never-married, divorced or a widow, God will give you the desires of your heart but it's also our job to be proactive in our prayers. Spring cleaning may be friendships, relationships, clutter, business ventures, family or career goals. No matter the topic we could all spruce up all aspects

Honestly, my greatest accomplishments isn't my own. I seriously have to give God the glory for what I am doing. He not only gifted me with the ability to write, but He has opened so many doors giving me opportunities to do so. If I had to name one of the greatest blessings in this journey to date, it would have to be the release of my first book, "By His Stripes". This book was one of the moments that I learned without a shadow of one doubt that God has my back. I was terrified to tell my story but eager to share it at the same time. The book is based on my personal testimony and how I endured and overcame sexual abuse, domestic violence, drug addiction, and many other things people were surprised to learn I had endured in less than 36 years.

I

was warming up my food at work recently and

someone commented, “You're the best cook! Your food always smells so good!” After telling her that my husband would completely agree with that statement, I replied, “I think it's because I really enjoy cooking.” And I do. For some people, cooking is a chore only done because it's a necessity. For me, it starts with recipe ideas and buying food, which combines two things I love trying new recipes and grocery shopping! I also enjoy the challenge of finding or creating recipes that utilize ingredients I already have in the house. It's always a great find when I come up with a dish that doesn't require buying any additional ingredients! I should mention that I'm a problem solver by nature, but not the kind who likes any and every challenge. I suppose I would be considered a selective problem solver :) Food just happens to be the challenge I excel in and also enjoy. And it matters to me. Cooking matters to me; It matters even more to me since I recently got married. It's important to me to cook for us and to provide a fairly healthy, balanced meal and the time that we share together over food because our lives are both so busy between work, church, rehearsals and other life commitments. I started thinking about this more and a simple but profound thought came to me: When you enjoy something, you're good at, it matters to you, the results tend to be pretty impressive. If you're a math person (I personally am not, but I like to be inclusive of various learning styles :)), I see a pretty serious formula for success in this:

What matters to you? What are you drawn toward? What evokes your emotions? What are you passionate about? What captures your heart and soul? What are the things that you already have within you? Not to say you won't need to add some “ingredients” to fulfill your purpose and achieve success, but the majority of what you need already lies within. There is a place where enjoyment, ability and the things that matter to you intersect. I can almost guarantee when you find yourself at that crucial intersection, you will be walking in purpose! Start by giving some thought to these questions and seeking God about the call on your life. He made you and He did so with a purpose in mind!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV).

Enjoyment + Ability + What Matters = Success What is it you enjoy? Why do you get excited when you know you're going to get a chance to do? What provides an adrenaline rush for you? In what activities or hobbies do you excel? If it's tough to think of the things you're good at, think about what other people compliment you on most. Is it that your desk and/or office are always so neatly organized? Is it your keen sense of style? Can you put together an outfit with clothes and accessories that most people would disregard? Do you have the gift of gab? Are you in the small minority of people who are very comfortable speaking publicly? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be collecting vital pieces of your purpose puzzle. Purpose is often talked about as something far off or super deep, but purpose is close and near to you it is the very essence of who you are! Purpose is that thing (or those things) God uniquely equipped you to do.

IT’S IN THERE Finding and Applying Life Principles in the Holy Bible By: Christina Mial Hi Divas! I am excited that God has allowed me the opportunity to share with you every month principles that the Bible has for our everyday living. Without further ado, I would like to introduce this column to you which will be called “It's In There”. There is always something that we are going through whether good or bad and it is great to know how the Bible tells us to respond and react to those things. This month God reminded me of the story of David and Shimei. You can find the story in 2 Samuel 16:5-13. In this story, David is already king and Saul is dead. Shimei is a man that blames David for not only the death of King Saul but for all the death that has come to the household of Saul. During this time, David is going through one of the most difficult times in his life. Notice I said one of; It is during this time that outside of all the other issues in David's life his son is trying to kill him. Can you imagine? His own child has placed a bounty on his head!

But you know what. It was a teachable moment. David was being faced with an emotionally draining situation that he technically couldn't ignore but he chose to. He decided not to let it stop him from reaching his destination. I told you that story to tell you this. How many times have we allowed people and their actions dictate the decisions we make? How many times have we not even attempted accomplishing a dream because someone else doesn't think it can happen? And then there are those times in life you may have experienced firsthand or seen someone else go through being lied on and dirt thrown on your or their name. These are things that are sometimes unavoidable. You can't possibly predict when you will have to endure negativity from people but God wants us to know we can not only get through it but He will not

allow it to stop us from destination. What is our destination? That place that He has designed for us to be in a particular season. Even though David was exhausted when He reached Bahurim, He still reached it. And when He got there, God refreshed Him. No matter what you are going through in life, no matter what you are facino and definetly no matter who doesn't believe in you….. keep pushing towards the mark God has placed in front of you. Don't let anyone or anything distract you from reaching it. Don't look at the negative as setbacks. Especially if those negative things are of no fault of your own. Allow God to use those moments to not only strengthen you but to show you how even in adversity, He has the final say so. cont. on pg. 17

So David and his men have decided to flee the city and head to a village called Bahurim. While in route, one of Saul's relatives, a man named Shimei, started following him. In the process of Shimei following him he was throwing stones at David and his men, as well as cursing David. Shemei was blaming David for something that was no fault of his own. He blamed David for the death of Saul. Although David had every right as King to have Shimei killed because of his actions,he didn't. He actually chose to take the higher road and even considered the fact that it could have been God's will for Shimei to be doing those things to him. Did you hear the record player scratch? Did I just seriously say that maybe it was God's will for this man to not only blame him for something he didn't do, but to also allow him to curse him and pelt him rocks? Diamond Diva|16
