Just flipping do it! I am already being sent notifications of Christmas, including parties, hotel deals and print offers. Once I used to groan at this, alluding to the year-end. Since I have discovered the power of premature planning, I am all for it. Here at Diamond HQ we are planning for 2015 right now. As a goal setter, business and life plan writer, I was astounded at a recent course I ran that only two out of the fourteen attendees actually had annual plans, goals, list of things to do and achievements defined. They were letting their lives and businesses just happen. You CAN do that - work and play without a plan – but you can bet your bottom dollar that all those things that your heart desires to achieve in this short life of ours will NEVER GET DONE. I don’t know about you but I have a long list! From seeing my kid’s graduate from university, witnessing the Northern Lights, smelling the blossom of the cherry trees in Japan, liberating British business from crappy couriers, to helping people have the business that gives them the lifestyle they and their families deserve. Not to mention the ambition to build the best courier company in the world! It’s a huge list of what I want to see AND do. If I don’t PLAN to do all those things, funnily enough they probably wont happen. And here’s the thing – planning isn’t tedious – it is really good fun. Well my way of doing it is! I start with a good old brainstorm balancing personal, business, financial and spiritual goals. From that I identify the things I want to do and how I can achieve those goals – like building a network of at least 60 depots UK wide to provide businesses with a partner who delivers their promises and their profits. Then I plan what
time scales I want to do this in (by 2016 BTW) then I start from the end game – i.e. what my network looks like when it’s complete and then I back plan from there, in five simple steps. 1. List 2. Brainstorm 3. Time Scale 4. End Goal 5. Back Plan A five step plan to get more done, achieve the things you want to and have the lifestyle you want. And then you just have to flipping do it! Work the plan daily, have the joy of achieving your interim goals, and tick all of those ‘must do’s’ off your bucket list! Take the time to enjoy the experience as you work the plan. So what do you want to do next year? Take the time as we near the final quarter of the year to brainstorm, list and plan as this could be sowing the seeds for the most exciting, productive and successful year yet. All achieved by a bit of planning. Sound complicated? It is really not (I promise!). I’ve created a template for easy life and business planning that everyone will benefit from. It’s called JFDI and you are very welcome to a summary copy – just give me a shout at kate@diamondlogistics.co.uk

Franchise Focus: Paul Turner – Basildon Diamond Logistics caught up with Paul Turner, Director and Franchisee of the newly created Diamond Logistics Basildon to see how they are getting on. Q: What is your Diamond Story? I have come from a background of owning an Interlink Franchise in Ilford so I know this market inside and out. When I sold my business I was looking for a new challenge and honestly, when we saw what Diamond had created I couldn’t quite believe it. It is simply the best of both worlds. A really great supportive team, an amazing product with substantial room for great margins to be made and then there’s the prospects of the national accounts down the line. Q: What do you enjoy about logistics? Logistics, whilst not rocket science is still a science. Each day brings challenges but it is ultimately a very fast paced, engaging and rewarding business to be a part of. It is also an essential element of many businesses and yet despite the sheer size of our industry within the UK alone the service standards vary dramatically. Diamond Logistics Basildon share Kate’s vision – to rid the world of second rate transport providers by offering a real alternative to local businesses, forming partnerships with you for the long term and helping you focus on profit with ingenious service led logistics. Q: What sorts you above the competition in your area? It is this experience combined with the established Diamond HQ experience which gives us our strength in the market. Our unique Multi-Carrier solution means that our clients benefit from one single web based IT system customised to their requirements, access to all the major carriers through a single point of contact with full tracking in real time for both Domestic and International consignments. Our exceptions reporting solution ensures that any issues are actioned as they arise by the Diamond team meaning that our clients are free from the burden of chasing information. Q: What are your ambitions for Diamond Logistics in 2015? We have invested heavily, purchasing numerous postcodes because our experience in the market enables us to see just what an opportunity this is for us. We’ve started with a 4500 sq. ft. depot and a team of five so we look forward to being the fastest growing franchise to date!
