Coming from a long line of architects, I have been around drawing, models and construction my whole life. Architecture seemed a natural choice for me and soon I realized that it has also become my greatest love. Being passionate about architecture and design, I actively participated in different international contests and traveled around the world to expand my horizons and gain various experience. During my trips, I not only learned many things, but also met incredible people who have different perspectives, backgrounds, and life experiences. In 2013 I became a winner of the Archi-World Academy Award. My project was chosen from more than 1,270 other submissions. This gave me the unique opportunity to join one of the most prestigious firms in New York. This experience not only helped me to increase my professional skills, but has also shaped me into a more well-rounded, flexible team player. I truly believe that my journey into the world of Architecture has just begun and I am very excited to continue exploring, creating and growing.

ECO-FRIENDLY RESORT IN ARMENIA OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT The main objective of this project is to assist in eco-tourist attraction to Dilijan (Armenia) by constructing a state-of-the-art resort, while preserving landscape and natural ecosystem. Construction of this resort will aid in solving the lack of lodging for tourists. Dilijan is known for its beautiful landscape, clean air and mineral waters. It is an attractive tourism and recreation destination. People come here from all over the world to enjoy the nature and to see relic landmarks. The city unfortunately lacks comfortable lodging to accommodate all the tourists. That is why in 2009 a plan was created to construct additional lodging options. The construction area is planned at the city entrance on the bank of Ovajur River and is surrounded by Dilijan National Park. Hence, the ecoresort construction plan seems the most appealing to attract tourists.

METHODOLOGIES AND TOOLS Ecotourism implies trips to national pristine areas to enjoy the local landscape, flora and fauna while having a minimal impact to the local ecosystem. Analysis of adjacent buildings assists in drawing a conclusion that the local architecture is intertwined with the nature. Local architecture features low-rise buildings, using natural materials such as wood and stone and efficient use of open space for terraces and balconies. Folk elements in the local architecture aid in its natural merge into the city context. Architectural solution results from the analysis of local natural and climatic features. The buildings naturally blend with the surrounding landscape, as if it is following rocky relief making an impression of a fracture or an exposed bare rock among the lush vegetation.

RESULTS The Eco-resort project includes units (hotel, fitness center, recreation, spa) built as a single building. All units are interconnected. Hotel rooms stretch throughout the building on southern and south-western sides from the 2nd to the 7th floor. Main unit has a green zone, occupying a single space from the 1st to the 6th floor and creating a natural microclimate inside of the building. Fitness center is in the basement and in the first floor of the building. It has entrances from inside as well as from the outside. The spa is on the 2nd floor and the recreational zones are disseminated throughout the building. The building has also separate zones for rest, fitness and recreation. The basement stretches throughout the entire building with separate entrances, and it is connected with service facilities of all units. Parking lot is located in the basement.

MASTER PLAN OF SUSTAINABLE NEIGHBORHOOD IN MOSCOW REGION The project layout includes: Site plan, Transportation plan, Environment plan, Zoning sketch and Master plan. The Master plan (120 hectares) consists of three fundamental constructions: two shopping centers in opposite ends of the neighborhood and a business center in the middle. There are also two schools and kindergartens, a football field, three parks and a lake. |5

The residential buildings are located throughout the neighborhood and can accommodate more than 60,000 people (25 sqm per person). The average height of the buildings is 8-10 floors. Total GFA is 120000 sqm. The types of buildings are high rise, middle rise and townhouses. Each building block has a its own dedicated parking garage.


MIXED-USE BUILDING IN MOSCOW It is a 12,000 sqm construction that involves commercial and residential zones, that are functionally separated. The architecture is shaped following the idea of separation. The office and retail part is designed as a dynamic beveled cone penetrating into an extruded static rectangle shape of residential part, in such a way that creates an intersection line as a part of Architectural shape.

The residential part has two common elements with the office part that are interpreted and solved differently - balconies and an oblique edge of the building that is the same as a mirrored axis of the cone (office part). The construction is supported with a frame structure.​

This project was designed as an alternative design solution for the existing Art House Master Plan in Moscow. The purpose of the project was to transform the space into an unified composition, where every single detail is a segment of an entire image. When I was working on the design I was greatly inspired by Czech artist Frank Kupka, particularly the series of paintings named “Fugue�. Fugue is a musical contrapuntal compositional technique in two or more voices, built on a theme that is introduced at the beginning in imitation (repetition at different pitches) and recurs frequently in the course of the composition. I followed the painting style and transformed it into an architectural composition. The project included two different art museums, an art market, residential building for artists, multiple art studios all with beautiful views of the city and parks. The project is located adjacent to the Moscow River, which afforded additional transportation methods and a harbor for ships and boats. /Master plan

OFFICE BUILDING IN SAN PAULO - FACADE OPTION Thinking about a facade option for one of the office projects, I resolved to take a 2D fractal triangle pattern and transform it into a 3D structure. I achieved this by rotating each triangle in a different direction. I created a 3D Rhino model to use as my presentation. Working alongside Jay Kim, an Associate of Studio Daniel Libeskind, we developed it structurally and presented to the client. I then created diagrams and constructed a physical model to accompany the design. |9

I worked with a team of four architects for alternative design options on residential towers. In addition, I developed a final 3D Rhino model adding balconies and terraces, created physical models and generated presentation diagrams.

BOWLING ALLEY DESIGN IN SAMARA Taxis (from the Ancient Greek τάξις, meaning ‘movement’) is a bowling alley renovation project. The owner of the alley was not happy with the existing design and invited us to create a new catching design that will change the entire style of the space. Working on the project, we were faced with two major obstacles - lack of space and a long corridor between the entrances, that according to the building codes we had to maintain.

We were able to complete it, however we had to look at the space from a completely different perspective. What if we turn the corridor into a focal point of the project or what if a corridor would become an art object? We transformed the corridor into a pipe and once again transformed it into dynamic sculptural shape that made the small space appear larger by optical illusion.

Taxis penetrates and connects all the zones into a single living organism, which reacts to any movement due to a built-in light sensors. This idea helped to liven up the space and create an open environment. The construction technology includes framing, adding fiberglass, grinding, priming polishing, and painting.



Play zone consists of a bowling alley and billiards. The open space is zoned using different light as well as different floor levels. The bowling alley is slightly elevated and the soundproofing system is hidden in the open ceiling space above the bowling alley.

Club zone includes a bar separated from the dance area with a screen. In the daytime club zone can be used for banquets and celebrations, as well as can serve as a sports bar.

Restaurant zone contains twenty three tables, that are separated by low partitions. The walls are covered with a double mesh structure that lighten up with LED light fixtures and color changes automatically.

CHILDREN’S PLAYROOM Children’s playroom designed as a three-dimensional mosaic, that contains eight puzzle elements. This idea came to me when I was watching children assembling puzzles. I decided to incorporate puzzles into the design as pieces of furniture. Since all the puzzles are filled with soft and lightweight material (polyester), children can easily move them around to create a variety of combinations. As a result, the interior may be constantly changed to delight visitors again and again.

I was tasked with design of the lobby for the Warsaw Tower project. I developed the design, composed renderings and drawings of sections, plans and elevations and presented to Mr. Libeskind and the client. The design was approved. The design contained walls with a complex structure that divided into seven horizontal segments. The bottom segment appears to be peeling away from the wall and then transforms into a black glass counter top reception desk. The custom designed Daniel Libeskind glass chandelier completed this organic design and added a sense of serenity. A polished veneer finish was used for the walls and Daniel Libeskind custom tile on the floors.

The client requested a design to completely renovate a second floor of an existing building into a hotel. The suggested layout includes two honeymoon suites, one large room to accommodate a family and five standard rooms. While designing the honeymoon suite (30 sqm), I thought of the main characters and wanted it to become a genuine backdrop for a loving couple. I devised the area to reflect the feelings of lightness, cleanliness, certainty, and passion using simple design techniques. As a result, every aspect of the room has become monotonic besides the luminous fireplace which is the focal point of the composition. The project was implemented.

APARTMENT INTERIOR DESIGN IN MOSCOW I was hired to redesign an apartment in Moscow (180 sqm). My clients enjoyed entertaining, and wanted to have an open floor plan that would incorporate the living and dining area with a separate kitchen. In addition, their request was to have a master bedroom, children’s room, two bathrooms, an office and ample storage space. I designed a layout that achieved all of their goals and they accepted. By redesigning the shape of the living room,

I was able to achieve the request for an office and as well as additional storage by adding a walk-in closet. I emphasized the living area by changing the flooring and suspended the ceiling. Following my design, I used built-in shelving and incorporated a custom stained class piece for the music and television entertainment area. The wall behind the custom stand was decorated with seamless 3D panels and LED accent lighting. I reconstructed a bathroom into a large closet and

added an additional bathroom next to the children’s room. The balcony was insulated and opened up to the kitchen area. By meeting with and genuinely listening to the client, I was able to base my design on their wishes; a comfortable home that would reflect their personalities. Throughout the process, I openly discussed and obtained approval for the ongoing design and what materials would be used. The final product was very well received. | 32

APARTMENT INTERIOR DESIGN IN MOSCOW The clients wanted to renovate their new apartment (120 sqm), reflecting their own personality. They wanted to have a formal dining space, that could be transformed into an additional room in the future, an open kitchen, a living room, master bedroom, children’s room and two bathrooms. My overall design integrated warm hues of earth tone colors so to appear warm and inviting. The plans were discussed with the clients and accepted. I had several hurdles to surmount while working on the design. One being there was not enough closet space for the family, another was making room for the requested shower in

the master and lastly improve the sound proofing between the apartment and the neighbors. An attribute of the apartment was its large hallway. I took advantage of the space by creating both a walk-in closet and a master bathroom, while still leaving adequate hallway space. I was able to provide the client with the requested shower and added space for a washer and dryer. In the living room, I designed a custom media cabinet using it as a room divider. I utilized the bottom section of the cabinet as a decorative fireplace and situated built-in shelving on top. In the the kitchen I designed a bar table to be used for

informal meals. The formal dining area was separated with glass doors for privacy. The balcony area was opened up and the walls were covered with soundproof panels. As I have done with all of my projects, I often conversed with my clients keeping them informed of the progress and obtaining their approval on all materials. I worked closely with and supervised all staff involved in the implementation of the project. Once the work was complete, a clock was placed on their wall that had been created using my sketches. | 34


RESTAURANT DESIGN IN ARMENIA My client wanted to combine two different cuisines, Japanese and Mongolian into one restaurant. The Japanese restaurant (130 sqm) would be on the first level. The Mongolian restaurant (260 sqm) would be located on the second level overlooking the Japanese area. The design needed to fuse both the Japanese and Mongolian style. The Japanese dining area needed to consist of a sushi bar large enough for six customers as well as a hibachi bar for an additional six customers and tables allowing for twenty. The Mongolian area needed to include a designated section | 35

for customers to choose semi-finished chopped food and a large area for chefs to prepare the food at rotating tables.

TOWNHOUSE DESIGN IN MOSCOW The client requested a third floor design that would resemble a spa atmosphere. The first and the second floors of the townhouse were already complete and it was important to the client to maintain the same style, while adding freshness to the design. My design needed to include space for a medium sized Jacuzzi, two different styled showers, a small kitchen and a lounge area for intimate entertaining. I opened up the space by removing the existing doors. By doing this the area appeared vast. Adding contrast using dark marble panels on one wall and integrating contemporary furniture, using vivid

fabrics and adding symmetrical greenery I was able to achieve the effect the client desired.

OPEN AIR RESTAURANT IN MOSCOW I was offered an opportunity to work on a restaurant located in Moscow. The establishment (Fusion), had recently undergone a successful interior renovation, and now the owner wanted to extend the improvement outside for alfresco dining. The objectives on this project were for me to produce a quality design while maintaining the same style as the interior and being able to meet the client budget and time line. I created several designs that I felt could work and after revisiting the establishment and getting a sense of the area, I presented | 37

the one that in my opinion would work the best. on June 1st, 2010 and remains open for dining After providing the client with my concept design every summer. and cost-estimate, I received approval for the project. The process was started by having a main structure built in front of the restaurant. In collaboration with furniture designers, fabric specialists, electrical/lighting professionals and landscapers I was able to successfully complete the project while meeting the budget and time limitations.
