VERTICAL INTERSECTIONS
Brings us closer to our nature!
Fighting Loneliness & Social Isolation
Loneliness & Social Isolation is a important problematic nowadays, specially in big cities where the interactactions are mainly done digitally. There are also new comers adapting to a new culture and some far away from their families. This problematic affects people from all ages and it can cause problems such as: fear of others, negative self-esteem, depression, even reduce the life spam.
Fighting Loneliness & Social Isolation
I envision a city where people have more opportunities to connect and feel part of a community. This is the intention behind Vertical Intersections, whose mission is to make people reflect on the importance of building a community together, in order to become stronger individuals and to create a healthier society!
Vertical Intersections
Vertical Intersections is an itinerant public installation that consist in a series of vertical gardens with workshops that invite locals into shared public space to grow plants, share stories, and create community.
Concept
The vertical gardens represent local populations living in high-rise buildings. Each pocket planted with its own native or foreign species, symbolizing the individual urban dweller in their unit. Collectively they represent our vision of growing together as a diverse community, coexisting in symbiosis and supporting each other.
Concept
This installation nourishes opportunities for interaction and new friendships; grows awareness of local ecosystems and the importance of their protection and integration into urban landscapes; and educates the community to reclaim and create more green urban spaces.
Didactic
There is the symbolic activity of building a community together and being part of the installation’s creative process!
