Diana‘s Photophilosophy

what my photography project is about... Modern digital photography is no longer just about taking photos in the traditional sense (historicaly film photography). The unique quality of digital photography is that it can include many streams of data and technique and still be classified as photography. In my project I experimented with the nature of the camera as a scanner not just a camera. As such the scan opens the the door to many process in the photography pipeline. Traditionally photography used the dark room to explore their work in the print process.

For this homework I decided to go out in the evening for taking photos without any disturbing light source. My Intention was to take photos of fast cars on the road. But in the end I figured out that Busses supposed to be even more interesting for this Experiment. You don't just see strips in the landscape, but also the outer contour of the Busses. In this way people get the Illusion of seeing trough the windows and into the buildings behind them. For editing I added a little more contrast and made the Overall picture a bit darker.

Long Exposure III I tried for the second time the long exposure effect for the photo. Therefore I went to the highway and made pictures from 1 to 15 minutes. There's the result what the final outlooking is. I have shooted with the Canon EOS 2000D, with a 18-55mm lens.

In our second lecture, we saw pictures on how to edit a little planet. Therefore we had to find a place, that is not to flat. But also the big problem that Seoul has many high buildings that I couldn't fully get on my Camera. So I searched for low builded buildings, I also had to stand on the ground, so that It gets like an earth. Also I wanted to capture not to many people on my pictures, because they are just interrupting the surrounding surface. Luckily they all went off my way, so I could get nice pictures. The man on the daylight earth was a cool thing, so I let him be there. I decided to make a daylight and a nightlight Picture so I could train both and lern how to make a szene of them.

Our task has been to made up a picture out of lots of pictures of that object. I saw this beautiful vase and thought this could be perfect. It has something cultural of korea and the structure is majestic. It was very hard and time intensiv, because that has been my first picture doing this kind of experimental photography. But till the end I got a feeling of how it must be done and that it‘s okay if it isn‘t perfect. Its more interesting, when it‘s rough. It went better with the second image I started editing. I got even more images, because I want the whole landscape to show. I got very optimistic that this one will be working better. For taking the photos I went on very structured. First I took a picture of the exact image section. Then I started from the top left corner and took photos till the bottom right corner. You can tell that the time passed by, because of the brightness and contrast of the pictures.

For this weeks assignment I took lots of pictures of objects I had first in mind. The statue is standing at IDAS university. But because I didn't blurred the background I received the whole landscape there. The second one is portrait by a good friend of Mine.

For my photography project I would really like to do something with Reflection. For example buy a mirror and let something reflect to someones body/face. But also the reflection, which is leaning threw an window could be a very interesting scene to take a picture of. I have also the idea of making a picture where the light reflects on some ones glasses and capture even that. With my theme ‚reflection‘ I can also play with light and shadow. Perhaps let sun reflect on someone through a small window, so that they are parted light and parted dark. I also want to search or create a puddle and let part of Seoul buildings reflect in. I also want to turn it upside down to give the illustion that the city floats in the sky. I want to play with mirrors and create like a picture of the sky on the mirror and place the mirror on a chair. It gives the illusion of a sky on the seat of the chair.

For this weeks assignment I continued working on my Photograph project. Therefore I would not only Focus on spheres and their reflection, but also on editing pictures and give the objects a Kind of reflection, like you can easily See in the pictures.I edited them just to See how the Illusion will turn out and I thought it works pretty well. At least I made Renderings of my first concept.

concept. In my work you can see how I played the texture to give the models the perfect finish. It should be memorizable, because of their abstraction. Please forgive me, If my models aren‘t that perfect, because these are only humans, and me as well.
