THE PANEL: Mr. Klaus Rudischhauser, Deputy Director General, DEVCO, European Union Mr. Philippe Orliange, Director for Strategy, Agence française de dÊveloppement Mr. Boubacar Bah, Mayor of the Bamako District V, Mali MODERATOR: Mr. Arjan Schuthof, Senior Adviser, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Netherlands The side event will promote a debate between local and national government representatives, international institutions and other stakeholders, to draw lessons and define a set of actions to support local authorities and multi-stakeholder involvement in the development of national policies for the implementation of the SDGs as a contribution to the effective development agenda. The panelists will analyze how development partners could specifically support this approach and create space for dialogue at local level. The European Union, AFD, local authorities and partners will showcase successful examples of ways in which development partners are fostering the involvement of local actors in sustainable economic development, institution-building and territorial development. This side event is also seen as an opportunity to discuss the renewal of the GPI 14 and explore further activities. Please note: translation throughout the event.
