The 58th United States National Election is not only controversial but hits home significantly for Canadians. After November 8, 2016 when Republican Donald Trump is elected as the new US president, defeating Democrat Hillary Clinton, many Americans and Canadians alike reacted differently based on his platforms and everything he said prior the results was announced. For many Canadians, there United States is not just a neighbouring south but an ally and trade partner. In few months and years, here are the areas we Canadians must keenly observe and guard.

Trump and Trade Mr. Trump plans to axe the Trans-Pacific Partnership, an ambitious trade agreement between 12 countries including the U.S. and Canada. That account for 40 per cent of global economic output. Also in 2015 interview on 60 Minutes, Mr. Trump described the North American free-trade agreement as a “disaster” he would renegotiate or even “break.” During one of Donald Trump’s campaigns, he pledged to force Canada and Mexico to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement, to provide greater benefits to U.S. businesses. If the countries don’t agree on a new deal, are we expecting Donald Trump to leave NAFTA completely as he promised? The global market is manifesting their fears of a prolonged global uncertainties and lack of confidence to the new presidential leadership and his ideals and policies. Trump’s New Government To Affect Canada in More Ways than One EDITORIAL BOARD

ture, make our real estate an increasingly attractive investment, according to some experts. Many housing analysts wouldn’t predict the impact of Trump’s presidency, however, for those who already see Canada as an attractive, stable place, the U.S. election could heighten that perception, said Royal LePage CEO Phil Soper. Trump and Global Climate Change Trump vowed to back the United States out of the 2015 Paris agreement, a landmark international climate treaty aimed at curbing emissions and limiting global temperature increases.Trump has also pledged to revive the coal industry, relax restrictions on polluters, and expand exploration and drilling for fossil fuels.Trump leadership also commits together almost 200 nations to reduce greenhouse gas

emissions with a goal of limiting global temperature increases to under 2 degrees Celsius. Let’s wait and see. Trump and Border Security Canadian Ambassador David McNaughton is “quite optimistic” a lameduck Congress will pass the necessary legislation because of bipartisan support before a new administration takes over. Let’s watch if Trump government will honour deals to ensure a thinner, smoother border to the north. Canada and the U.S. have a “perimeter” approach to economic and border security that saw countless travel and security screening procedures harmonized. Bills to enable more information-sharing on entries and exits, and more pre-clearance of cross-border travellers are now before Parliament and the U.S. Congress.

Trick or treat? EDITORIAL BOARD

On the eve of Halloween thousands youngsters trekked the streets of North America with their goblin and zombie-like costumes. The encounter with adults brave enough to open doors yielded just two options: Trick or treat. Children in costumes travel from house to house asking for treats such as candy (or, in some cultures, money) with the phrase “Trick or treat”. The “trick” is a (usually idle) threat to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given to them. (Wikipedia) For 18 months, the world witnessed how Americans experienced another version of political “trick-or-treating”. In keeping with democratic ideals Uncle Sam grimaced having opposing candidates offer a trick or treat on his doorsteps. One candidate offered the comfort of status quo or continuation of the system under the track of liberalism - pro-choice, support gay marriage, raising taxes and etc., “tricks”

that put democrats in the confines of the oval office for 8 years. On the other hand many equated the other candidate as dangerous and lacking political experience. He offered “treat” to the electorate. A treatment for what ails Uncle Sam. Dismantle the status quo and corruption in Washington was the rallying mantra. The absence of political experience and creepiness were dangerous elements to the mix. Many argued the West will find itself in the most awkward situation, a laughing stock and the subject of global ridicule. With the painstakingly nail-biting election finally over, the Americans have spoken and the world is now on “wait and see” mode with the new President-elect, Donald Trump. The result of 2016 US election certainly put Americans, in particular, and the world in general, to one of the “trickiest treats” in history. For four years Americans will find out if they are being tricked or treated. Now the question arises: how do we (Filipino-Cana-

dians) respond to this reality? Being one of the most resilient, hardworking, and adoptable immigrant-groups in Canada, we need to further adhere to and develop these traits with great intensity. Moreover, the need to engage and actively participate in Canadian politics (all levels) is more than necessary. It is a must if we want to be heard and respected. Hillary Clinton in her concession speech said: “Donald Trump is going to be our President. We owe him an open mind and a chance to lead.” And that hits the nail on the head, folks!

MANILA, Nov. 17 (PNA) The local equities market recovered Thursday partly on the back of the higher-than-expected 7.1 percent output of the domestic economy in the third quarter of the year. The peso however weakened anew. The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) gained 1.20 percent, or 83.84 points, to 7,050.12 points. All Shares rose 0.74 percent, or 30.95 percent, to 4,242.40 points. Property led the sectoral indices after surging 2.02 percent, followed by Industrial with 1.42 percent. Services rose 0.66 percent; Holding Firms, 0.62 percent; Financials, 0.48 percent; and Mining and Oil, 0.41 percent.

Volume of trade reached 2.7 million shares amounting to PHP8.1 billion. Advancers led decliners at 91 to 78 while 53 stocks were unchanged. On the other hand, the local currency lost 0.21 against the dollar, settling at 49.56, its weakest since its 49.83 finish on November 24, 2008. A trader said the peso recovered a bit after the announcement of the Philippine growth in the third quarter this year but the dollar regained strength due to mid-month corporate demand. “The experience of stronger dollar started after US President-elect Donald Trump won the elections and this is expected to be sustained until next year. But markets are also awaiting for his policies and whether he will make good on his campaign promises,” the

trader said. The trader said that because of Trump’s tax cut and higher infrastructure spending promises, markets have priced in a hike in the Federal Reserve rates in December. “Despite this, the peso is seen to recover before the end of the year because of remittances,” the trader said. The peso started the day weaker at 49.36 from 49.15 Wednesday. It traded between 49.22 and its closing level, bringing the day’s average to 49.41. Volume of trade totaled USD821.5 million, higher than the previous session’s USD666.5 million. The currency pair is seen to trade between 49.30 and 49.50 Friday. (PNA) CVL/JSV/EDS

A Resounding Success!

Fruits of legal consultation. “I was so frustrated-there is so much information available on Immigration Canada’s website. I did not know what to do or where to begin. I met with Irma in person for an hour and she explained all my options to me. She then showed me on the government website which forms I should use and explained it in simple terms to me. I could now focus on my specific application and do the rest myself. I could finally talk to a real person who is an experienced immigration lawyer. The 3 on 3 Basketball Invitational Tournament held last October 8th at the Lindsay Thurber High School in Red Deer can only be nothing but successful. Thanks to the ingenuity of a young couple who has the community in their mind in anything that they do since opening a basketball jersey making business in a thriving town of Red Deer. Powerhoops’ Rudy and Marie Galang are so proud to boast that providing high quality sportswear is their key ingredient in making a name in our community whose love for basketball is no question at all. This is the closest team sport in every Filipino’s heart.

On their second attempt to give back to the Public that paved way to their success, Rudy and Marie organized once again their 3 on 3 invitational Tournament with no hesitations. They wanted to have our “kababayans” a fun-filled day and the opportunity to gather around and get together in a place where the overwhelming sounds of cheering is music to everybody’s ears. This year, more teams joined and more places were represented aside from of course their townhome Red Deer. The City of Edmonton & Calgary were joined in by the towns of Lacombe, Ponoka, etc. One new change they adapted this year is to open it to the public so other nationalities can join too. After all, basketball is truly a universal sport everyone truly loves.

The tournament had four divisions such as Elite, Masters, Seniors, and Juniors. The entire day got filled with tons of laughter and fun for the whole pack of families who came with their team players to cheer and applaud for them. The enormous enthusiasm that these basketball players and fans alike showed at the event was incomparable. Positive feedbacks came alongside the cheering squads and from that alone, one can only say, this basketball activity was a huge accomplishment for Powerhoops Canada. Congratulations for your cunning inventiveness. We surely appreciate your social consciousness and tireless effort to give back to your clients. It sure is an activity we will look forward to next year.

Lotto Prize of $32.7 million, according to a report on Journal de Montreal. “By buying a lottery ticket, I do not expect to win the jackpot,” Estracio in an interview on TVA Nouvelles as reported by Journal de Montreal.

Estacio, who chose the winning combination 0609-30-37-43-49, said he was on his way to work when he decided to have his lotto ticket validated. He said at first he thought he only won $32,700. He said he was surprised when the employee of the lotto outlet told him he is a millionaire. Estracio, who reportedly works two jobs to support himself in Canada, said he has yet to decide on how he will spend the money. Ontario Superior Court 5 Great Reasons Why orders Balita and Tess Pregnant Women Cusipag to pay $90,000 Should Exercise towards legal costs in Senator Enverga defamation case Toronto, September 28, 2016 – Balita Media Inc. and Editor/Publisher Tess Cusipag have been ordered by the Hon. Sidney Lederman, Judge of the Ontario Superior Court, to pay $90,000 towards legal costs incurred by Senator Tobias C. Enverga Jr. related to the civil action for defamation brought by the Ontario Senator against the defendants. The legal costs awarded bring the total amount to which Senator Enverga is entitled to $340,000 plus pre-judgment interest. In a July 13 judgment, the Senator was awarded $150,000 in general and aggravated damages and $100,000 in punitive damages.

Explaining the substantial indemnity costs, Justice Lederman wrote in part: “Given the seriousness of the defamatory allegations against Senator Enverga and the determination of the defendants to pursue a scurrilous attack upon his reputation even in the face of having no evidence whatsoever to support the allegations, it cannot lie in their mouths to quarrel with the time spent and research conducted by the plaintiff in seeking vindication in this proceeding.” In the July 13 judgment, Justice Lederman stated that the defendants, and in particular Cusipag, “has done virtually everything she could to destroy and discredit Senator Enverga

in an unrelenting manner”, thus necessitating the award of punitive damages. “They engaged in absolutely no investigation whatsoever as to the truth of what they were publishing. They were recklessly indifferent to the truth of the Article … At no time has there been any retraction or apology given. Cusipag vows to continue to make defamatory statements against the plaintiff [Senator Enverga] and has shown no interest in stopping her efforts or refraining from misconduct. Cusipag was motivated by malice. She obviously holds a deep- seated resentment towards Senator Enverga,” the Judge added.

3. Exercising eases back pain

This is another health issue which usually occurs in the advanced stages of pregnancy. The reason is simple – the baby becomes bigger forcing their mother to change the posture. Pregnant women have to arch their back in order to provide better support for the weight they are carrying. These changes lead to back pain which is usually more intense in the lower back. Lack of exercise will stiffen the back. So, choose some safe exercises for your back and practice them regularly.

4. Exercising helps pregnant women keep proper weight

DF

Benjamin Tamayo CONTRIBUTOR

Pregnancy brings many body changes and this is quite natural because women are carrying a new life inside them. Obviously, pregnant women are doing their best to avoid every situation that they believe might have a negative impact on the baby’s development. This is the reason why many women are staying away from exercise during this period of time, but they are completely wrong. Exercising during pregnancy, just like exercising, in general, provides a wide range of benefits for the baby and for the mother. For those who are still skeptical, we have created a list of five great reasons why pregnant women should exercise.

1. Exercising makes the delivery smoother

During delivery, women have to use all their power to get the baby out.

Regular exercise helps pregnant women strengthen their pelvic muscles and their bodies in general making the delivery much smoother. There are certain exercises like Kegel’s exercises that make the muscles more flexible and supple. Pregnant women can start practicing these exercises from the moment they find out that they are going to have a baby. Of course, if you are interested in performing any kind of exercise while you are pregnant, it is the best idea to talk to your doctor first.

2. Exercising lowers the chances of developing gestational diabetes

Unfortunately, pregnancy can sometimes cause specific health issues and gestational diabetes is one of these issues. This form of diabetes emerges because the levels of blood sugar in pregnant women are changing rapidly due to hormonal imbalance. With the help of physical

Of course, weight gain is completely normal when women get pregnant, but this gain should not exceed certain limits. If a woman gains a lot of weight, she might face some health issues and complications. According to some experts, a weight gain of about 24 pounds (11 kg) is normal. Exercising helps women maintain proper weight, but only if they are following a healthy diet at the same time.

5. Exercising provides more energy and improves mood Exercising supports the release of so-called hormones of happiness which means that you will improve your mood too. The fact that you will maintain a healthy weight and that you will avoid back pain and sleep better if you exercise regularly will make your happier too. In addition, this activity makes pregnant women feel reenergized. We hope that these five reasons will motivate pregnant women to start exercising.

Travel & Adventure Angelito de Jesus PHOTOS & TEXT

When I first heard of surfing in Canada, I was a bit unsure whether to believe it or not as I have only hear of surfing mostly in tropical destinations such as Hawaii, Australia or California. With very little knowledge of the sport but mostly interested of photographing the actions, I thought it would be an interesting subject and to explore the much about buzz in Tofino. Following my photo expedition in Nanaimo, I headed as far I can go north of Highway 4 – where Trans Canada Highway ends and arrived in Tofino. I found my campsite without any difficulty. Bella Pacifica campgrounds located right in front of the beach was amazing, I could hear the surfs and the cool breeze from my campsite. A few steps from my site leading to a stair case were an open and fantastic view of the ocean. Hundreds of surfers near the shore some struggled to stay up on the board and some were just cruising away. I went back to my site to get my camera gear and explored the trails nearby. Just a few meters into the trail, I was surrounded by tall Cedars and lush vegetations. There were even boardwalks to protect the fragile environment. Further into the trails, a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean and heavy waves smashing into the rocks nearby interests me and I ventured closer to photograph the waves and the surfers in action. As I got closer while navigating through volcanic rocks a huge swell came rushing in and smashed into the lava rocks I was standing on and came down like a tidal wave over me. Thank goodness for the rocks I was on, I would otherwise got washed off and crushed to huge and sharp rocks around me. All I was thinking and tried to protect was my camera gear but useless doing it as I was already soaked and all my camera gears. The heat and wind quickly dried up the moisture but worried that it may not work anymore

The Wild Pacific Trail There are many trails within close proximity to the town of Tofino. The Lighthouse Loop of the Wild Pacific Trail is a popular among visitors primarily for its location right by the ocean. It is a perfect place to watch the storm from the open sea. The trail is only 2.6 km but if offers the most panoramic view of the ocean from the Amphi-

trite lighthouse. There are several viewpoints that offer a dramatic view of the rugged shore. It is known as the Graveyard of the Pacific because of the surrounding islands create a wind tunnel thereby big waves follows which makes it a challenging endevour to navigate a vessel and with the rocky shore is makes even more treacherous. Many ships in the past have been wrecked and many crews have perished hence the name given appropriately. In the case of tragedy on October 25, 2015, a 20 meter whale watching boat, The Leviathan sank killing five of 27 passengers on board mostly British citizens. The report concluded that a wave came and flipped the ship while most people were on the upper deck making it more susceptible to roll as the center of gravity was raised. There are several rainforests throughout the trail where enormous cedars dating back over a hundreds of years, lush vegetation and many species of birds can be seen and appreciated. There are miles of boardwalks in place to avoid walking on the fragile environment. Schooner Cove is an excellent for young and old to get the feel of the jungle without having to navigate through bogs and muddy terrain.

Culture Tofino boasts a surfing and beach culture. There are many amenities that cater to surfing fans. There are many houses that are lavishly decorated with finds from the sea such as seashells, driftwoods and colorful sidings. Mostly have front decks where people gather and perhaps plan their surfing day. The summer population increases exponentially than that of the winter, though,

the summer activities are still do-able in the winter since winter temperature are usually warm and very little snow or none at all. At the time I was there, trade fare was in progress. There were many local handicrafts and jewellery as well as local services being offered. It is a small town but it’s bustling with activities, there are many attractions within just a few minutes’ drive from the main drag. Several restaurant and cafes with bakery have constant line-ups. A walk around the town is always the best way to get the feel of the town. Residential walk to see beach houses in different style are very attractive. Beach walks on sunsets are must-do to appreciate the beauty this locality. Camping is perhaps a more suitable accommodation rather than in a resort to fully appreciate the nature around and immediate access to the fine sand beaches, ocean views and witness the sky transform into a glowing fire. If the purpose of your visit is fishing, I must concur that it’s a fishing haven. A small fishing boat can be hired for the day and charges per head and will take people to where the fish is abundant. Ucluelet is another fishing town where fishing visitors can have the time of their lives fishing the ocean for wild salmon. It is located only 43km South East of Tofino. Surfing, Fishing, Cycling, Whale watching, Camping and much more – where else can you experience such all year round delights. My next visit – I will sure pack my fishing gear along with my cameras.

GET YOUR CAR READY FOR WINTER Manny Perez WRITER

Tires Install winter tires. Your winter tires can be installed as soon as temperatures hit 7 C. The special rubber compound in your winter tires allows them to stay flexible and grip snow and ice for optimum traction. Check your air pressure in all four tires and your spare tire. Cold air can make the pressure in your tire drop significantly, which can affect your vehicle’s ability to bite ice and snow. It’s a good idea to check the inflation of your spare as well and ensure your tire changing kit is on board and intact.

W

Fluids, systems and hardware

Check, change or top up all fluids. This includes everything from engine coolant and oil to windshield washer fluid and gas. You should always have at least half a tank of gas in the winter because you could be idling longer in traffic jams or in the ditch wanting to warm up with the engine running intermittently. Having a full tank also prevents condensation in your gas tank and lines which can be excessive with winter temperatures. Check your blades, battery, brakes and belts. Your wiper blades should be changed at least twice a year so they can effectively wipe away blowing snow and rain. Have your battery checked to see

if it’s in good enough shape to get your car started and running through the winter. Optimum braking is critical in the winter when your car needs to perform on snow and ice so have them checked along with your engine belts and hoses while you’re at the shop. Check your a/c and your exhaust systems. Many drivers don’t realize it’s actually your air conditioning system that vehicles use to defrost and de-humidify inside your car. You’ll also want to make sure your exhaust system is intact to avoid leaking exhaust pipes or mufflers which could cause carbon monoxide poisoning and decrease the efficiency of your vehicle. While you’re at it, make sure that block heater is still working.

Emergency Supplies Pack an emergency kit. Your kit should include some supplies for you and your passengers, including a first aid kit, bottled water, health bars, boots, gloves, and an extra winter coat. Remember to dress for winter every day. Even if it looks sunny and mild

when you head out, you could be facing a blizzard on the way back. Your kit should also contain emergency supplies for your vehicle, including booster cables, extra oil and windshield washer fluid, lock de-icer, flashlight, flares or safety triangles, an ice scraper, a shovel, a bag of salt or gravel, and possibly even some chains for your tires.

available; these do not require an external power source. The coolant is heated and circulated, usually by thermosiphon, through the engine and the vehicle’s heater core.

The most common type is an electric heating element in the cylinder block, connected through a power cord often routed through the vehicle’s grille. The block heater may replace one of the engine’s core plugs. In this fashion, the heater element is immersed in the engine’s coolant, which then keeps most of the engine warm. This type of heater does not come with a pump. They may also be installed in line with one of the radiator or heater hoses. Some heaters pump and circulate the engine coolant while heating, others only heat the still coolant in the reservoir.

Heaters are also available for engine oil so that warm oil can immediately circulate throughout the engine during start up. The easier starting results from warmer, less viscous engine oil and less condensation of fuel on cold metal surfaces inside the engine; thus an engine block heater reduces a vehicle’s emission of unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide; also heat is available more instantly for the passenger compartment and glass defogging.

Block heaters that run directly on the vehicle’s own gasoline or diesel fuel supply are also

Block heaters or coolant heaters are also found on permanently installed systems using diesel engines to allow standby generator sets to take up load quickly in an emergency.

Remembering our Leaders with integrity know better. beloved dead… Ymore H.

Fr. Edmund Vargas COLUMNIST

We celebrate this month the love we have shared with our beloved dead, who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. We pause and reflect on our certain faith in the mystery of the Communion of Saints, that is, our interrelationship as the pilgrim church with those suffering in purgatory and those triumphant in heaven. We pause to offer our special prayers and sacrifices for the repose of the souls of our loved ones. When death comes so close to us, as in a family, we can feel more the emptiness and devastation that come with bereavement. Yet in our loss and bereavement, we discover God’s presence in the sympathy and love our friends and family offer us in our time of need. We learn to appreciate more the real value of the gifts of faith, family and friendship. We discover the value of sympathy and solidarity that make us go through our difficulties and challenges in life with more faith, more hope and more love. Commemorating our beloved dead, like funerals, is all about friendship

Sagittarius

Love and forgiveness appears to be the worthy gesture that God requires during of bereavement and loss. It is in the spirit of accepting the things we cannot change that we

have to seek the serenity and peace that God give to people of goodwill. It is also in the spirit of Christian love and that of the Eucharist that we offer love and forgiveness to one another as we ask for God’s forgiveness of our sins and failures. We live at a time in our human history when we as Christians have to give witness to the spirit of love and forgiveness in the midst of hatred and indifference. We live in a world where we have to work hard for the achievement of peace and unity that Christ has prayed for all the world. As we remember our loved ones, we offer our prayers for them. We pledge that every gesture of affection and friendship we show to one another on behalf of our beloved dead become a sign of God’s love for all of us. The legacy of love and friendship that our loved ones have left us should inspire and move us to live a life full of love and concern for one another. The celebration of the Eucharist is Christ’s own legacy of His self-sacrificing love for all of us. It is the celebration of the greatest love that this world has ever known through Christ’s own offering of his life for the forgiveness of our own sins, including the sins of our loved ones who have gone before us.

I went to bed two in the morning feeling a little bit grumpy the day after watching the result of the US election. Series of polls prior to the election anticipated Hillary breaking the glass ceiling for women in politics on the presidential route. I felt sorry for her, as another chance to run is slim. Political pundits, commentators, journalist, media, historians and celebrities firmly believed that Donald’s chance to occupy the Whitehouse was nil. And if he won, it would be a disaster. Based on their analysis both candidates were less than desirable to lead America. As one commentator said, Uncle Sam is courted by a “crook” and a “creep”. Other labels include a contest between an “inexperienced firefighter” and a “professional arsonist”. Now that our neighbor down south is in the early stages of their new political reality, it is worth recalling some of the salient issues that made the difference in the result of the election.

For one, in my opinion, was the issue of Clinton Foundation (CF) with its ties and proximity with the State Department (SD). It was alleged by the media that CF/SD tandem was a lucrative scheme to enrich the Clintons. The flow of donor moneys from abroad and in the US was ensured for a favor, something Americans are probably more knowledgeable on. This brings us to a question and insight. Over a period of many years we have been silent witnesses to various forms of fund raising schemes by various Pinoy Not-for-Profit Foundations and organizations (in tandem with businesses and government agency). Understandably, the funds raised are used for the group’s operational expenses, and to a large measure, portions of money are channeled to a cause (helping other groups to help the less fortunate sector of our society here or in the Philippines). Yet here is the clincher, financial reports after a fund raising event sponsored by

our community groups and foundations (big and small) are hard to get by or rarely published. I guess members of these groups in particular and our community in general deserve respect, honesty and transparency. The issue of corruption and poor accountability in North America and in the Philippines haunts many political figures and heads of foundations/organizations. If we, ordinary members of our community, are silent about it then we have no right to question our leaders, once again becoming silent participants to the demise and erosion of our community’s moral character. I’d say this coming Christmas and New Year, our community leaders’ best gift and resolution; respectively, would be the release of financial reports for their member’s information. Besides, to know the bottom line of an organization is an inherent right of members. Consequently, leaders with integrity know better.

The reality of death in our lives makes us acknowledge our human limitations and the fullness of God’s grace in our lives. Death cuts through our shallowness, our pride and our prejudice. It makes us remember that we are not competitors but partners in our common journey to the Father. Death inspires us to love and care for one another in a deeper way. Death makes us consider the ultimate meaning of our life in this world that is so temporary and fleeting. Commemorating our beloved dead makes us seek the serenity to accept the things we cannot undo and the courage to move on with our own respective lives. Remembering our beloved dead inspires us to pray for the wisdom to realize that life is what we make of it. It challenges us to realize that there are things we can make happen while acknowledging that the past can only help cope with today and tomorrow.

MadameKC WRITER

Madame KC

During Autumn/Fall and through out winter, many people are unsettled with headaches, tiredness, aches & pains, mood changes and even catching flu. Beyond such conditions that are associated with weather fluctuations, a medical condition termed as “Chronic Pain” also exist to , which is pain lasting months, years or lifetime. The Pain Resource Centre recorded statistics recorded these facts: One in five Canadians suffer from chronic pain, children are not spared and the prevalence increases with age (Moulin, Clark et al. 2002; Schopflocher, Jovey et al. 2010). Chronic pain is associated with the worst quality of life as compared with other chronic diseases such as chronic lung or heart disease (Schopflocher, Jovey et al. 2010). Chronic pain costs more than cancer, heart disease and HIV combined. There is double the risk of suicide as compared with people without chronic pain (Tang and Crane 2006) The pain itself rarely continues to perform a useful function. Chronic pain can be quite disabling, often preventing people from working and enjoying life. The following conditions are associated with chronic pains : cancer, fibromyalgia, nerve inflammation or damage, mood and/or anxiety disorders, spinal injury, headaches, back injury ( the lower back is the most common site

The biggest bad mood culprits are refined carbohydrates, such as table sugar, junk foods, such as candy and soda, as well as in everyday foods, such as fruit juice, syrup, and jams. Foods, like complex carbohydrates, that contain soluble fiber can slow the absorption of sugar into your bloodstream and increase serotonin, the “feel good” chemical, both of which decrease mood swings. You can find healthy amounts of fibre in oats, beans, pears, peas, Brussels sprouts Add protein to your meals. Protein can help slow the absorption of carbohydrates such as eggs, poultry, seafood, tofu, low-fat Greek yogurt. Take extra vitamin D and Folate and B12 .
